High Definition Media & Technology Thread
Roy Focker replied to JsARCLIGHT's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Last Night I watched Mchael Bay's Pearl Habor on Blu-Ray. It was one of the free movies I got for buying a PS3. Even on a old TV the blu-ray picture was good. Can't say the same about that movie -
I have a old wider PS2. Just got the disc and swap tool. I did some research. There has been reports of the swap disc not working in this matter. PS2 has this laser that reads the disc over time it gets weaker. Some lasers just have problem reading certain disc. Helps to stand the PS2 up right instead on its side to play certain games, stuff like that. Might also explain why some DVD had a few errors in play. Remember those common freeze points we had with the animego dvds? It doesn't freeze at those points with my PS3. Some PS2 end up having problems with reading CD and others with DVDs. Prior to the swap it still played the DVD games. The repairs are nearly a nightmare. I took apart my PS2 and did several adjustments (google PS2 Disc Read Error). There's one adjustment left and that is the risky one, the dots/pods that control laser power to read DVD or something like that. I might have to buy a replacement laser. I'm not sure if the Swap Disc speed up this process. Oh yeah the laser for my model could cost up to $70. I could buy a slighty used PS2 for $100 I bet. It cost under $20 for a Slim model replacement laser. Right now I can play CD games on it. No Macross on PS2 this week. I might try the last repair job but I might have to buy some safety equipment or the risk of electrical shock. Maybe I should have bought a Japanese PS2.

They get they don't want to change. Think of all the extra people they have to hire besides just the VO actors to a do a dub. They don't want to put them out of work.
-
Highlighted the parts I found interesting. Notice he includes Dudding cost and then talks about competing with online fansubs. Isn't that a problem right there? Maybe people aren't waiting for dubs before they obtain anime. The fact that fansubs can get out fast and be of fair quality says that the standard model is to slow. If American anime companies dropped dub versions couldn't they compete at a faster pace? Yes there are some people (I call them retarded) who prefer dubs but you only need dubs for kiddie friendly anime. If people are downloading fansubs then they'll buy anime without dubs. I wonder if making sure there is a dub is more to support VO actors then it is to serve the buyer. If your a VO actor their isn't much work for you. Big celebrities are doing all the big budget CGI films. You gotta make due without a big movie star name and get steady work from anime dubs. If American Anime Companies cut down on dubs. It would decrease the time anime gets to you and put a bunch of no talents hacks in the poor house. They'll rather keep the status quo and support their own then to give the customer what they want.

2059 is good. 2070+ was too close to Macross II. With 2059 we are only 14 years from Macross 7. Max would be just be 66 and still would look around 25. Anyone want to bet that the mysterious enemy attacks on the Macross Frontier are from none other than the nearby Macross galaxy fleet? Characters designs first looked like they were designed for little girls. Now they feature boobs for us boobs. They still stink IMEO.

Sienna Miller has been casted as the Baroness. Now the rumor mill is saying that Ray Parks has been casted as Snake Eyes. Several internet sights are reporting this nothing from the bigger places yet.

Okay I'm glad I bought a PS3 before I started playing around with my PS2. I got a replacement disc in the mail. The CD was booting up but not the DVD one. The replacement isn't working either. I should also mention that now I can't get a normal dvd or non import game to read either. My PS2 was working fine before trying the swap disc. I'm gonna try to contact the makers of it.

I can't see companies embracing anime online. Face it. Most of it is pure crap. An offical free or budget preview episode would do what good for them? People watch it and decide it is too crappy to buy or even download from friend of a friend. Company loses money,

Okay I'm confused about prices. I understand that a big tv, 1080p with a name brand will cost. But why does a brand like Sony seem to cost often twice as much as the otherr big name companies featuring a similar tv?. -

I'm currently acquiring the Zeta series. Got and watched the first half already. I already know all the spoilers but I'm enjoying it and can't wait to order more. I also love the corpal punishment. Everybody is just so eager to bitch slap Kamile. I also acquired some of the movies. I'm digging Sleggar Law. Roy Focker is such a copy cat.- 3717 replies

Ditto I had reviewed review of the sets themselves and was planning to try to see them in person at other stores. I'll be skipping on this deal. -

I want a super duper new TV but these are Factory-renewed - A factory-renewed product has been out of its original carton and may have cosmetic imperfections. Couldn't this mean I might get a tv with a small scatch on the side (no big deal) or a small scatch on the screen (a big deal). -
Okay Macross World's Forums have been around for 6+ years. Some of us like myself found and joined Macross World as soon as Shawn told us about it on Alt.fan Macross. I'm curious how did the rest of you find us?

Tabletop RPG sales galore!

$300? Big deal Ha well I spent $6 on ebay on a rpg book during these last two weeks! -
Companies not just anime ones have always complained about how new technology is losing them money. Few of them assume that their stuff just plain sucks. Just gotta adapt with the times. If the internet is the threat than get on it and use it to make money. Besides half of the time isn't the show, music, etc just a lead in for selling more merchandise?

The PlayStation 3 Thread 80GB Edition

And I thought I got a good deal 3 months ago at $450. -
Okay excluding Yamato's 1/48 are you sick of the fact that every toy company who gets a chance to do a Macross toy ends up doing a VF-1?
-
Ditto. I think it is all about how one Valk stands next to another. A 1/48 YF-19 would be too big. Make it 1/60 and it matches up to the VF-1. Look how dinky your old 1/60 VF-1 looks to your 1/60 YF-19. A new VF-11 at that scale would look the same. Wasn't 1/60 the scale of the old VF-11 toy?
-
Maybe I should clarify a bit more. I'm not saying I'm sick of Yamato's VF-1 but sick that every toy company who makes a Macross toy (what ever size or material) seems to be making another VF-1.
