Robotech: The Macross Saga sourcebook
Roy Focker replied to AlexM80's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's because Robotech.com is using the original names. Even with its flaws it does feel good to flip through a Macross Saga book. This opinion may change after reading. A perfect Christmas gift for a illiterate friend maybe? -
Robotech: The Macross Saga sourcebook
Roy Focker replied to AlexM80's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I bought this. I owned all their previous Robotech/Macross RPG and played the hell out of them. I'll submitting a full review to RPG.net soon. Here's what would have been a deal breaker for me. If it doesn't seem like a big deal to you buy the book: The Tomahawk is listed as having a crew of two. In the animation we see the crew appear at least twice. There is only one crew member both these times. Robotech.com lists one crew member. Guess who list two crew members? The Robotech Reference Guide. Great accurate source. I then read someone pointing this error out on Palladium's message boards Here is what the author had to say: Now I just want to scream stupid RPG hack! Robotech is anime. Ever heard of “Anime Magic” if the source material indicates one Crew Member you go with it. The guy refuses to believe one crew man can do it all but has no problems with transforming robots that fight giants? Palladium's old Robotech and Macross II rpg were known for gross mistakes. Lancer Space Fighter, size of the Macross Cannons etc. We use to think it was just bad research now we find out that some mistakes are intentional. It is one thing to increase M.D.C. armor ratings for character survival it is another to intentionally present inaccurate information. Palladium will always have their loyal RPG customer base. A Robotech RPG will appeal to Robotech fans as well. Even with the differences between Macross & Robotech fan I think I know one thing common with both groups. They like to talk about Mecha and crap. How many missiles does this have? Was that Minmay flying in the background? They give a crap that a ship is the correct sizes, etc. We can expect RPGs to fill in the blanks. What this hack did is inexcusable. After reading that I now doubt the accuracy of the rest of the book. Still it is good to see an official Macross Saga RPG book. Even with that deal breaker it still feels good to flip through a Macross Saga book. -
Hi-Def and Home Theater Thread 2
Roy Focker replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Blu-Ray looks best on my big TV. DVD just look good. They aren't flying off the shelves because no one is trying to make the DVD obsolete. DVD are cheaper, they are advertise more, both new titles and title for DVD only are being release for it. Great availability and pricing. For your average consumer DVD are the way too go. Blu-Ray are expensive in comparison. Sure they are fantastic in quality but most people are fine with their DVD. They get little advertising compared to DVDs. Instead of a focus at releasing big epic spectacles from the present to 20 years ago. We see mostly just current releases. Serenity is in the right step. It has been very hard avoiding that $8 DVD copy I be seening for the last year.- 376 replies

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
Roy Focker replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well looks best in Battroid mode the one I intend to keep it in. Okay where are the preorders? -
Maybe I have bad taste but I kinda liked Never Say Never Again. The corny dated 80's stuff in that movie was just as corny, dated or campy as Moore's stuff. There were a few good parts of the film. The intro training exercise, spa brawl, Largo and his line "Sweet Taste like Money" I quote that line when ever I get the chance.

Hey Busta Rhyhms could have played the role as welll.

Bond Kills for Queen & Country Previous Bonds and even novels ones had class. Sure he was capable of doing bad things but he appreciate fine things and was refined. Craig's Bond is more of thug. They can put him in a penguin suit but he stands out as a tough guy. He walks in to a place and he looks like trouble. I known Casino Royal he suppose to be Bond before he was Bond. He still seems very rough around the edges in the previews for this movie. Craig is 40 years old can we honestly expect to see more refined Bond by the 3rd outing? Kinda too old to change much.
-
Craig or rat face was just fortune enough to get a darker Bond movie.
-
I read that too. He make a good nuff Sho nuff but the movie doesn't need to be remade. Would it be serious revision? Part of the movie's charm is the silliness.

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
Roy Focker replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Question: I'm watching my Gundam DVDs again. Interest rising in Gundam (especially UC). All my old favorite Gundam links are dead. Too much stuff on google. Where is the current Gundam equivalent of Macross World? I know of MAHQ but I'm talking about exclusively Gundam.- 3717 replies

I agree with the Hair issue. Alpo doesn't want people mistaking him for a girl. So he maintains long hair that he ties up with a ribbon like a girl.
-
Actually saw these in a comic book store $50 each. Maybe about $10 more you would pay with shipping. I gotta say I don't how these things are they are overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than $20 each. I had no idea how dinky they are. They are the size of action figures but cost 5 to 10 times more. Plus they don't transform.
-
Watched the first episode I like the character designs and the look but not the animation. CGI ship look alright when it is just one ship on the screen. Characters aren't very animated. It very limited animation. Could have a really great story but it animation is mediocre. If it was Macross I keep watching. If Tytania in film comic form I'd likely check it out.

Hey Shin what is the deal with Hiss Tank and other fan sites? I'm a member of couple them and lurk at some others. Is this thing true? http://www.joecanuck.com/joe/board/index.p...c=2865.msg23310 A few other sites express their displeasure. Plus I heard negative things about Hisstank before.

Ranka sure had a growth spurt during those couple of years.
-
Still something not right with Michael's arm over Alto.
-
Exactly. Maybe they are worth the price. Still it something that I first have to see in person to decide. I can't justify spending that much, waiting a few weeks to find it is not worth the price.

First try the search engine Second try scroll down to the forum topic list page to the part that says "From: 30 days" increase range to include older topics. Third try google Fourth try youtube: People post video of them doing repairs. Here a freebie from my own experience: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=23833

What is the "official language" of Macross
Roy Focker replied to justplainZero's topic in Movies and TV Series
From my understanding all communications from (real) pilots to (real) traffic control is done in English. I believe English is the official Language of the UNSpacy but, that does mean they speak it all the time. On the SDF Macross you occasional hear/read some Engrish emergency messages. DYRL? there is few Engrish as well. Fact that we can hear both Japanese and a rare bit of Engrlsh makes me believe that they characters are speaking Japanese and it's not just for the audience. Later Macross 11 is regarded as an English Speaking Fleet. To me that means English is the dominate language used. Isn't just by bill boards are emergency messages. I think that the language used varies from place to place. We hear Japanese alot because it is the dominate language used but the characters featured. People have a greater command of foreign languages allowing them to speak with locals. There is likely several official spoke langages but I suspect that Engrish is the official written language. Things like contracts or written orders to avoid confusion would have to be in the same language. Also when Misa, a Japanese woman translated the song in DYRL? she translated its written form in English. -
Firebat is awesome reminds me of the mini jet James Bond flies in octopussy.

I got criticism of it (most already discussed by others) but there are a lot of rabid fans that think it is the best thing since slice bread. I could write at length about how it is only good because it is new, just craters to fans and has a weak story. I don't feel like being that negative right now. People enjoyed it so I'll let them have there fun.

Well it has been over 40 minutes since tonight's episode ended. I can't remember what it was about. Only thing I know is I gotta get one of those 2009 Dodge Rams. That truck was the best special guest star ever!
