Sorry the only why I got through is because I was attempting to buy every 12 hours, but it seemed to be up a bit on Monday. I got the error on both Firefox & IE, so it's definitely on their end. It kinda feel like site over load...

You guys should set-up with someone in the US who will receive your order and then ship it to you.
-
Well it's working now. Boxed set heaven, and that's the end of my tax return. LOL!

So how many times goes toward 'liking' something. DO, is great even if the plot gets a little wonky at one one. It had one of the best endings in an mecha anime. It didn't make you sad or happy, but it was along the lines of fulfilling. Top noche animation design(takes you back to the detail in the later 80's Macross shows) and a very nice music theme, even if they were to cheap and played it to death(LOL!). Perfect Blue easily ranks in the top 5 of 90's animation, and that's partially due to Katsuhiro Otomo being the special advisor to Satoshi Kon. By the time PB rolled around Katsuhiro had plenty of experience with this genre of film and his guidance show! Every once in away 4chan's /m/ section gives up something 'good'. Thanks for the feedback! To give you a better idea on the scale those windows are slightly smaller then Brentai's(spl?) height. (Reference Perfect Memory pg 178.) Working on the secondary panel lines right now...

Thanks for the links. Had to switch over to 'tv' in order to get any depth and unfortunately it's wet my anime need far too much! lol Combat Mecha Xabungle, looks like a fun watch. And I think I'm gonna finely break down and watch what many older fans consider 'classics'(Urusei Yatsura, Ranma, etc) but anything by a certain baseball manga freak is out of the question!

Yep, the 80's anime had some of the best backgrounds! They also had some of the better movie grade character realism that you'll only find now in Production I.G. films. Thank goodness for LoGH anime! I've got Appleseed & GiTS on VHS and had thought about getting Black Magic M-66, but after reading the Appleseed manga found that most of all of Masamune Shirow's material is nearly identical. So I'm passing on it. Wicked City..... the beginning of the new 'thin' eye style era. A good 'nasty' flick. Demon City Shinjuku, though similar, was kinda boring and lame when the two are compared. It's like Demon CS lost it's way virtually 20 minutes in. I'd like to get some of the older Robo-anime's like Ideon, Dragonar, and Iczier when they come out or I get around to it. I'd get KOR, but I want the manga instead! I'm badly drooling over having the GUNNM OVA's though!!! Know if their is a site that lists older anime?

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!

I'll like the original producers tell me what audience segment it was aimed. But clearly is was aimed at the pre-teens and teens due to it's toy market and the given attitude toward anime being solely for children. Oh it was always about 'coming-of-age' however, since many country's don't consider a person an adult until thier late twenty's. Also the theme 'coming-of-age' is a very diverse theme(it's about change at it's core), but in older times it was simply getting thru puberty and becoming an excepted part of society. Debatable as they are very much inner dependent on each other and adds to the story if growing up is part of the story. See 20th & 21th Century Boys. danth, very true! All this speculation.... so little info... -
That very true about Golden Boy, unfortunately the same can be said about several of the newer anime's. But unlike GB they don't attempt to really hide their commentary because it's not a commentary but an agenda of some type. Akumetsu, though a manga(it'll get turned into an anime what isn't nowadays), is little more than that. Gantz though is kinda sly about it using the monstrous events happening in plain sight as it's commentary about society being blind to what is obvious to others. I've gotta dig deeper into the 80's anime...
-
Like others I can understand your need of story and anime personality rather then trend material. Heck I picked up Harmagedon(1983), which was basically a dry run for the Akira movie, and found it quite nice(my God where have the quality backgrounds gone!). It's a shame though that early and mid 80's anime isn't making itself really available other than bitorrents and U.S. MANGA CORPS...
-
Yeah I'm getting it also. On both Firefox and IE. They've got some boxed sets that I wanna pick up!!! It just shows that their IT person is an idiot. It's bad enough that the site is poorly laid out, but server errors during a sale? But what's kinda interesting is that Right Stuff had an ADV sale slightly before the ADV site sale, right after they announced their return to manga.

Good catch! damnit...

They bring it up because it's a valid and it has it's usage. Especially since it wouldn't waste 1/10 of 1% of the material a cnc router/cutter does. It would be sweet if some one was able to figure out how to set-up the two systems so that the printer could print the design and the router could apply the 'finish' it.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!

Naw your talking about Gundam. -
-
Cool! Thanks! Kumiko Takahashi did the character work... I wonder if she had any influence other then that. Funnier then hell that she helps to make a great OVA, but just can't seem to finish her own materials. lol! Satoshi Yamazaki also sounds familar and someone I should know.
-
So your saying that you enjoyed it? But yeah people tend to forget that it's entertainment. LOL I'll see it Monday when the theaters are empty and the little bastards are back in school.
-
Can you tell us who produced & directed it? Because it's always great to find out some of the early shows that now famous directors did, but don't like to get credited for.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
chrono replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Don't bother. Many HD cameras are purely digital, so no film is involved. It wouldn't matter anyways because the show is done in CG to begin with, so having film would be an unnecessary step in the process and be removed anyways. Oh don't I wish! -
heh! You know how it is. Well I wasn't happy with the trench, the scale was really off, so I started another version that has a beefier and cleaner look.

Uh oh! Maybe he'll be concerned with the quality of the artwork rather than the story or attempting to direct the show. -

The japanese 3D anime pool is still shallow and fighting itself(Gonzo anyone?), but they've made strides forward in understanding it's limits. So expect CG vehicles, mecha, and repeating backgrounds, but don't expect 3D characters(if any at all) because the cost is way to high to use them. Yes CG does pay for itself, but only in longer runs or shorter runs(Eureka 7) that have popular audiences(Gunbuster2, Karas, Yukikaze) and can charge higher prices. If they do 3D material it would be wise to outsource it to the nearby Asian Lucas facilities. Any who... maybe they'll use the Protoculture in this series. -

But if Macross: whatever fails I'll still have had Moonlight Mile for my 2007 space opera fix! -

Nice news. I gotta wonder if it'll be another prequel(Protoculture? i'd love that), some sequel that brings back some old characters(original Macross Saga), or something new... But I do wanna know, and badly, who the character designer will be. While I'd like a new series... I'm afraid the CG will be craptacular on both the mecha and characters on anything less then an OVA. Sure call me spoiled, but the quality level that M0 set was delish!!!
