MAC 2 is a poor example for merchantdising since the only official product i ever seen of it was the 1/100 scale VF-2SS w/SAP model kit. I personally never saw anything else (other than a Perfect Memory book of MAC2) -
Shonen Ace - Macross Frontier Manga, Chapter 1

Dude, this is going from homage to retread... though oddly i'm giddy none the less... -
If you detailed the model a bit (more black lines, maybe a few rubbing decals of NASCAR or the like, you could make that pic superimposed looked very real though the focus and light on it needs to be more like the outside. that was the 1st hint of photo editng... but nice!

Shonen Ace - Macross Frontier Manga, Chapter 1

Why is that the manga is deviating from the episode? (The fact that Gillion is killed/crushed) (my thinking is the age group that the magazine is published for? young teens?) -

/me takes a realllllllly deep breath..... Macross!! Hmm.... not enough base... Mac-ru-oss! hmm..... Oh i know! I need Badgers! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! (Macross-Macross!!) Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! (Macross-Macross!!) Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!! (Macross-Macross!!) ZOMG! Deculture!! Macross!! Macross!! Macross!!.... etc... what was i talking about.... OH, yeah. Macross... Uh is there any other info about the fleets, anything else being discussed or thinked to death about in the Japanesse forums? my curiousness is towards SMS itself. is it the 'Blackwater' of Macross (since a lot of the elements seen in recent anime mirror current events and personas/organizations)? when the scene shifts from the SMS crew lounge to the bridge setting, was that bridge the CIC of SMS or NUNS? was that another ship? or onboard one of the Islands... it's not implied where Osma (sp?) and Gillian deployed FROM during the sequence... /me eyes mark with evil, mischieft laden eyes? Is it ok to say i'm REALLY ZOMG excited for this spring viewing season... but here's a thought. the show will air this spring. what are the odds YOUTUBE all be vigilent in squashing Fansubs of the episodes (other than segments of any particular episode, like the FX portions of some Star Trek remasters seen on Youtube... -

Is the city in City-1 supposed to be a recreation of San Fransisco? During the battle, from one POV it does appear that one of the streets slops downwards and when you first see Alto hovering and witnessing the intial damage from the shield shell debre hitting the city below, you can see a bridge that looks suspiciously familiar.... but then again, one of the supporting chara is a, ahem.... 'Happy Camper' so it fits (and not that's there is nothing wrong with that..., LOL) /me shushs up now. -
Ok Artists. I came up with a doozy idea while on Post this evening. Using the Hazigawa Fighter & Battroid VF-1 scans from the 1/72 Models (the instruction art, not the packaging art) as a base line, come up with what the VF-1 would look like, using design cues from ol-whats-his-face's other, later designs. Retro the VF-1 to compare better to the VF-0 and perhaps later VF's... Nothing radical mind you, just come with ideas of what the VF-1 should look like, assuming the cannon reset button was pushed lightly. Round One! Fight!

I think the first thing i saw of macross was it's model kits. At Wing's Hobby Shop in Lakewood, Oh I saw the 1/72 Battroid VF-1J. Saw some of the other 1/72 scale Destroids (perhaps the only time, too since then i have had only seen the various repackagings of the 1/100 scale lineup). I was a welp, put it together and probably destroyed it just as quick. that was in '83 or '84... Then i saw two items, that did wonders to me. First was the Robotech line by revel, Axoid and Vexar (the 1/72 VF-1J & S Varible kits, the gold standard for all model kits of coolness). Not a clue what they were actually (i didn't make the connection with these kits and the previous 'white toy'. I think i also got theses from Wings... BUT. on a rare chance to Toys-R-Us or some other toy store brand in Great Northern Mall in North Olmstead, i saw the 1/200 scale Pitabans. Totally cheesy but it was the ARTWORK, Gorgious artwork. I was always going there when i had a chance to see if new ones were on the shelves in the back... It wasn't until '86 when Robotech began airing on WUAB-43, back when it was more local, non-network. they aired the good stuff like The Ghoul Show and such. Wow. I was soooooooo hooked. and see the fighters and looking at my pitabans and Robotech models, i started to see a pattern... pretty much after that, i started to learn more about it... but that's another story. Round Two. Fight!

Maybes, maybes Not. Think about this. Why did we even see SDFM mecha in M7? From what i've read and seen of the series, the mecha was owned by retired UNS personnel, right? All those civilianized VF-1's and Destroids... thought i really doubt they would let a old 'Monster' Crew keep a fully functional HWR. Millia (and i suppose Max) kept thier VF-1J's under the same agreement, though fully functional (possibly up to date avionics or motors? pointly to speculate thier on such a silly series) because of thier political clout. mayhaps some MF citizens have demilled VF's of what ever flavor the TOY and MODEL makers might be willing to invest in? ....because remember, what we see is what they might MAKE, as a toy or model. Why did they update the VF-171 from a VF-17? perhaps the current owners of MF CAN'T USE previous Macross Cannonized designs as is, because the TOY or MODEL makers can't get the rights to use updated previous designs? it's been like 10-15 years, In Cannon from M7 (2045~6) to the current time line (2059) and only 2 designs previous between the VF-19 production run and VF-25? i'm tired. i'm sure i'm making a point but i'm too pooped to think... -

you sure that's what he says? Now someone Torrented Eps. 1[[seiyan]_Macross-Frontier_01_(english_subbed_xvid)] and Fokker-be says 'Ranka's finally here' Now of course, i disagree with A huge portion of Seiyan's sub. sadly it seems the very good three part sub first seen on Youtube is gone. i thought that one made more sence (Gill's comments as he punchs out of his VF-25: I'm not gonna die like this!) But heh, until i see a Tiawan/China Bootleg disc, guess i'll wait... -
/me tosses beer cans in the stew you think Disharmony Mold will ALLOW bandai to bring to the US anything Macross Related? probably not, IMHO...

Propellant Tanks for sure (up in the air if they actually are used for movement or suport of the over-the-shoulder gun). a UC era Mobile suit (painted red, like a advanced zaku?) had propellant tanks, LONG tanks around a center tail extention of the mecha that acted like a booster... -

has anyone tranlated the pics on the previous Info thread about the VF-171, Ko-Monster and Q-Rau (MF)? My Q is, are the Q-Rau (MF)'s friendly?. As much danger the fleet is in with this new 'Lightning' race, you think a sudden appearance by yet another rogue Meltrandi fleet be overkill? -

Ok, cool that. has there been anything written to state they have a official designation of both versions of the VF-25? as far as ive seen both fighters are VF-25... but not VF-25J, S or PAG, 123 or what ever -

Number Designation for The Skull Squadron
TehPW replied to kanedaestes's topic in Movies and TV Series
what grumbling? can you provide a link to that info, sir? when VF-84 was disestablished for force reduction, the colors for that squadron were GIVEN to VF-103, who offered to strike thier own colors for the Bones, to keep the colors in the active F-14 Fleet. (this might have been considered also in line with future transistion with the F/A-18E & F since at the time there was also a exististing VFA-84 hornet outfit, too. either way, would YOU put the bones on a C? at that time?) -
One of you said that the VF-0 is K-man's attempt at hitting the reset button on the VF-1... This a opinion i agree with, to be sure but what if there is more to this. /me takes a deep breath DISHARMONY MOLD! /me sighs What IF (assumimg the legal issues of owership of Macross & DYRL are finally resolved in Japan) the VF-0 would be the template for a remake of the VF-1, a NON-touchable by HG version for use to a remake of the orginal series? something they could sell to the US, or anyplace HG can't cause trouble/prevent showing etc...? /me ducks from the TNT he thinks is light...

Number Designation for The Skull Squadron
TehPW replied to kanedaestes's topic in Movies and TV Series
His question should read, "When the VF-1 flying Skull Squadron stood up, were they a newly established unit, or a transistioned from a previously existing unit, such as any AF figher Squadron or VFA-103 or a Japanesse/UN unit? probably something they never considered since other than the colors, no proper nods of comment were ever performed by the makers of Macross to VF-84 (the F-14 unit flying the skull & bones in 1981 at the peak of line art being made for Macross) so it was never ackwoledged the offical cannon history of Skull Squadron or any other cannon VF-1 Valkyrie unit... -

I recall seeing a picture from the original series in dark colors that included the SDF-1 in Cruiser Mode with several VF-1's & Ghosts in tandem. I don't remember if the fighter had the SAP gear or not but the impression i got from it was that it was early production art. the fat that we saw both VF-1's & Ghosts in volume implied that maybe the Ghosts would have been more used (in the relationship that the Zentraudi Bits compliment the VF-2SS fighters from the begining of macross II) I believe the pic is somewhere on this site... -

Wow. i seriously needed to beat off after watching the episode on Youtube (loved that comment about Jetlag & Foldsickness). Yeap, poor VF-171's didn't stand much of a chance, the bugs knowing exactly how to kill the pilots. Got a question about that first cockpit kill: Does that bug gain control of the Pilot-killed fighter to attack his wingmates? it's hard to tell if the segment after the first kill shows the same plane launching missles or was it another bug doing the same attack method on another of the fighters in formation. another Q: Do these fighters have PPB? would it have been effective at such close range? The VF-25 pilot killed was surprising (and the whole scene reminded me of three things, the end of Macross Eps 2, which we all know, but also Episode 2 from Macross Zero, the downed VF-0A as well as.... bubble Gum Crisis and the hardsuits) and well crafted. The bugs take no prisonners and not discriminate on civies, either. odd how it reacts to the girl, though, it sees her and moves to approach (To kill her, inspect her?) before the Blue Girl-Boy does a Hikaru on the bug... well kinda, anyway... They use tanks. why cant they use PPB on thier tanks? what ever. Ive not been excited about a anime in quite some time.... GG
