  1. are you sure about that, sir? My only personaly experiance with japanesse rank names is from Battletech's House Kurita's DCMS. In M+ (Movie), Milard was the commander of the base (or at least the program. and big-boobs Lucy called him Tai-Sho, too... but Milard didn't look or act like a FLAG OFFICER. and i still want to say Sho-Sa is like Captain (O3) for army... but im really too tired to look. someone check the House Kurita source book?
  2. *yahn* about as informative to here like my spat with Sketchy (/me pees on any retort) My two cents... VF-25 looks awesome. period. if ya'll want to argue statistics like Star Trek NCC's numbers... meh. I am curious about many things (does it have PBB? does the various gun pods availible have reload capability? how many VF-171 pilots safely ejected in Ep.01. Can Ranka get sighted for animal abuse for her phone?) stuff like that.
  3. 'sketchley' Please STUFF IT up yer shorts. The Dragon II came first, regardless of what changes or intent the great Froating Head said, or changed his underwear a dozen times over since 1982. The COLORS for Skull-One came from a VF-84 Tomcat yes, but the VF-1 has a slight silhouette comparison to the Tomcat. Certainly the F-203 looks remotely like the F-15 and yet looks very similar to the VF-1. even the VF-0D's silhouette makes it look more like a Eagle than a Tomcat. That was my point. quoting BS from a magazine is like changes to Star Trek's (or even better, Star Wars) cannonity after the fact. Next time, PM your complaint so i can edit it politly... /me goes back to lurk and sulk.
  4. That begs the question... what if the Dragon II was supposed to be the F-15? I mean, alot of the manufactor names used in Macross Fiction are derieved from real world companies, but not exactly so (to avoid legal issues?)...
  5. B as opposed to V (BrieF-25). the mayor must have said the bug's name, cementing the prior knowledge angle...
  6. Thus why the 1st battroids HAD guns on the head. It wasn't something they did much at all in the original series but then again i doubt the idea of eye tracked weapons was even considered in macross or real-world military aviation in 1981. Heck, Vector thrust paddles probably was just a idea then... Zero uses all the bang because in real-world terms, the inpsiration already existed then...
  7. No bars = No Bars dude. you think in a war of attrition, you kill off the elite pilots... what if AT&T and ANTI-AT&T started wacking all the good Cellphone guys (Can you hear me kno~*)
  8. Gun shell casings, ladies. LOTS of em. uh, yeah. I came, TU... so beautiful. (though i wish during the sequence we see Michael's HUD that Ozsa's eyes moved as well. it would have made the coms that more dramatic. as it was i briefly was reminded to how visuals of pilot coms of Roy & the gang from ACE II) Yeah i understand what your talking about arm gaff wise. at the end of the clip you can see the tell tale Shield against the engine nacelle... Fricking Wow....
  9. god, look at both those Battroids... i swear i fear for this series if i get EVA UNIT 01! Launch! vibes...
  10. Really? I can believe that in the US... but what about everywhere else? i mean can you get Macross imports in canada or mexico? i'm sure HG's reach doesn't extend past the national borders... or does it?
  11. This gonna raise eye brows but that sequence is total BS. A Gate Guard that's still fully functional? No, totally irrisponsible. Any plane that gets taken out of service for what ever reason, gets gutted. engines pulled, can's pulled, avionics ganked, cockpit cleaned out and white washed... for the school (or what ever that place was that had a static display of the VF-1J) to have a fully functional Battroid on display would totally wrong? what's to stop some nut job climbing in and doing several minutes worth of destruction before being captured or destroyed? ...but other that, it looked cool (who knows, maybe you can't just pull the motors...)
  12. I know Youtube has been nipping the OP from viewing... bu will they allow short portions of the episode? I really want to see the edited battles...
  13. Doh! double post...
  14. usually thier tail letters plus the Mod number (to denote which particular AC it is, if the squadron has several birds assigned to it) uh duh. I work on them, silly of course i know these things... you may kneel and bow now.
  15. Please, Just PW. Pensive's Wetness... well, is such a... harsh term in polite company (but i still give a middle finger to the sphincter to anyone who tries to correct me ) anyway, looking at the website (fairly old or just out of date since the A-31 has been out-of-service for over 10 years now, the few units that never went to CYLOP in 94~96 are either at the C-Schools, DRMO or rusting away in the oceans [pretty sure a couple have been lost at sea over the decades]) I mean look at the pics on the site. GPCL, you see painted on the side of the tug on the model kit illustration. when i first seen a A-31 in '91, they were marked GPC7 (and eventually GPCX used on A-31A & B)
  16. the only nippick i have with the effort (which, overwise gets a BZ, regardless) is that because of the limited resources you had (the 1/48 scale AIR FORCE ground crew set) to make it, it's still not accurate. first off, there are no portable firebottles of that style used aboard ship (P-25's, large 3 crewed Fire Fighting trucks cover that onboard ship). 2nd? no C-1 stands are used at sea (you could possibly kitbash create a B-1 or B-4A stand, if you had pics or illustrations). 3? you need to look at pics of various aircraft carriers in use by various countries for deck layout and markings (on the assumption that the Asuka II wasn't built in the US in Macross's timeline) do that, and you'll make something really, really good (since what you have done proves you got the shiznit ) they do sell full plastic (whats the word) unpainted pieces of support equipment in 1/72 & 1/48 as well as some hard to get kits. I've bought and painted both types, both scales, though as an example, they only have molds of older versions of SE we use (NC-2A as opposed to the current A-3 or MD-3's as opposed to the A-31A & B) but still cool! Edit: found a link of a example: The MD-3 http://www.xs4all.nl/~robdebie/models/mule.htm
  17. also, IMO, another way to distance MF from HG. F models = the A? i mean if they really took the Aircraft Designation numbers seriously, we'd hear Block # or Mod #'s, mentioning fictitious types of Avionics or Engines, beyond what fluff they do mention...
  18. what terms should i use to search You Tube for this?

    VF-25 Fanart

Nice pictures but his reteric makes me take a pass....
  20. can someone translate the caption on the second page about the VF-1D flying over South Atara island?
  21. This might be old topiciy but at the beginning of the intro, you see the icon for Megaroad-01 going one way and Macross-F (or was that M-fortier?) going the other. watching that, i'm pretty sure Megaroad-01 plays nothing with the current series... and on the side topic of HG and property's... the intor for MF also used the POV's from DYRL. that also was intentional too. if MF was ever brought over to the US, it has less to do with SDFM... the possiblities... legally that is...
  22. you forget the stone VF-1 on the pedestals at the flight center, sir... when we first meet Alto & gang...
  23. Certainly not without some unknown hostility, considering the Varja actively Head Hunted every VF they engaged. (though maybe, possible some pilots could have punched out, though ejecting into space around a exploding aircraft makes me more to think any SAR attemps will find vaccum exposed dead pilots regardless. we could hope Froaty Head has been watching BSG for inspiration) if the Varja are somehow related to Megaroad-01, certainly they not human anymore...
  24. That was early in Episode 4, when it was clear UN Spacy was lossing ground. The VF-2SS took damage during transformation and was stuck almost in Battroid mode. the Male Power then ripped front and back main assemblies. my favorite in MACII was later that episode when a single VF-2SS was overwhelmed, pleading for backup before a Female Power Suit, first crushed his Head Camera, then kicked the cockpit in, causing it to explode.
  25. /me Casts Minor Necro Thread One Questions you think about on watch, part 171: How many Flight-Hours does a typical VF have? I'm talking about the Airframe itself, how long can a typical VF remain in service before being retired to the perverbial Bone Yards in Nevada ?
