Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

You have a better memory than me. I can't even remember yesterday much less several years ago! Vostok 7 -
Oh, now that you mention it, I remember it. Guess I just didn't pay attention because it doesn't interest me nearly as much as the OD Defender. Vostok 7

I thought Hasbro canceled the Indiana Jones line, just before they were going to release a Flying Wing (why does Hasbro always cancel a toy line before releasing the good stuff that will actually sell like hotcakes?). Vostok 7

I don't think Messiah was a good name for the VF-25, personally. It doesn't offend me or anything, despite being a religious person, I just don't think it fits the design of the valk at all nor the feel behind Macross as a whole. Vostok 7 -
I think he meant after the OD Green Defender, we'll get a OD Green weathered version, same as the Tomahawk. For those that are counting, that's 4 versions per destroid so far. Tomahawk standard Tomahawk weathered Tomahawk OD Green Tomahawk OD Green weathered Defender standard Defender weathered (have we seen this one yet?) Not only that, but odd numbers tend to be more common in real world aircraft than even numbers, for whatever reason. In fact, most former Soviet manufacturers (MiG for sure) never used any designation numbers OTHER than odd numbers (MiG-1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, though a few of their experimental craft used even numbers, notably the MiG-6 and MiG- Kawamori-san is of course a well known fighter buff (duh), so that's probably another explanation Vostok 7 -
Shucks, I just put my magnifying glass away... Vostok 7

Unfortunately, I doubt the VF-2s or the Metal Siren will ever be done in our lifetimes And someone bashes Robotech. Vostok 7

Jenius better be working on his review of the Beagle, that's all I'll say Vostok 7

Wow, if it was bad enough for them to take notice it must have been pretty bad, considering how bad the initial Alphas were and they said nothing. Vostok 7

Indeed, that fight with Millia is epic Vostok 7

  And the Shadow is supposed to be one of the better ones! But I have to ask, why now? Go Steve! Vostok 7

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3

IT'S AN EPIDEMIC! EVERY BANDAI SUCKS!! HOW CAN THEY EXPECT US TO PAY THESE KINDS OF PRICES WHEN THEY BREAK FROM BARELY TOUCHING THEM??!?!?! Well, geez, I was TOTALLY going to buy like 20 of these things but NOW I'M NEVER BUYING ANOTHER BANDAI PRODUCT EVER AGAIN!! Vostok 7 -
Overdrive seems to have the best price on the Beagle version, they're asking $219.99 and shipping is reasonable (the Beagle and a Yamato OD Tomahawk only cost me $54 shipping by EMS!). Considering HLJ is asking over $250 US for the thing and are claiming they won't have it until February, Overdrive might be the best choice. Robotech.com has the Toynami version for like $199.99, but I haven't looked to find it cheaper anywhere else. Vostok 7

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the 1/100 VF-0 that Yamato prototyped several years ago before they decided to switch the line to 1/60. They had just done the Konig Monster in 1/100 and were planning more in the size, but everyone hated that VF-0 prototype so Yamato switched to 1/60 for the Mac 0 valks. I can't wait to see Bandai's take on the VF-0 in 1/100. Vostok 7 -
Dated 2002. For the life of me I can't even remember drawing it, and I didn't find it sifting through my old drawings. Happened to find it on line. Wow. Vostok 7

What, I never thought it was that bad. Well, except for the birthing hips... Vostok 7 -
There was no Tab B on the VF-11. Well, there might have been but it wasn't an issue. The VF-11 had hips that broke with the slightest touch (though mine never broke and I transformed that thing constantly). The Tab B was on the YF-19, but they fixed it pretty quickly. Those weren't QC issues though, they were mis-engineered. Vostok 7

Once they have the forward fuselage and main fuselage designed for the -0D, making the -0B and -0C would be a cake walk, like you said. That's three more Mac 0 Valks that I know would fly off the shelves (while they're at it, they should do a "real world color" SV-51a in a Flanker scheme). Yamato! Listen to our song! Vostok 7

Oh, I know there's stuff they CAN do, but unless they're working on most of those NOW, we ain't seeing anything for some time. The VF-0D/B/C could be turned out relatively quickly, but they've showed no sign of working on it. The rest of your list (other than the VF-11, -21/22 & -19 variants) will have to be engineered mostly from scratch... Remember how long it took them to get the 1/60 YF-19 done? Geez. And I thought indications were they don't have the VF-X2 license anymore? (But they DID do those VF-X2 colored figures recently) As far as the VF-4, Graham-san stated that they told him they have no plans for a 1/60 version any time soon. Combine that with the fact the 1/48 line is dead means that they're only making a 1/200 one in the mini line. If they were truthful with Graham, that means they aren't even engineering one yet which is the most time consuming part of coming up with a new toy. They just haven't shown us anything or given any indication of what they've got down the pipeline beyond the current lines. Vostok 7

I've been thinking about this, and I see a problem: Yamato is backing itself into a corner. Once they are done milking the V2 1/60s, what do they have left to do? I mean, there's some non-canon VF-1 schemes they can (and I hope they) do, and they could do some non-canon schemes on the 2 seaters (which I hope they make every one, considering there's only 4 models to do (VF-1D, VT-1, VE-1, VFER-1) and they sacrificed battroid accuracy on the single seat VF-1s for easy engineering of the two seaters)... But after that what's left? The only other thing in the pipeline (that we know about) is the 1/60 VF-11 (which so far is disappointing because of the lack of tailfins). Then there's the destroids, after the Tomahawk, Defender, Spartan, Phalanx, Cheyenne 1 and 2, what's left? Maybe the Octos, and maybe the Monster (I wouldn't hold my breath for either, especially in 1/60), but that's about it. Especially with them releasing V2 1/60s sooooo quickly. I hope they've got something planned because they are going to run out of things to do with Macross pretty quick if they aren't careful! Vostok 7
-
For all we know, they might be working on it... But it has been a LONG time. I just hope they do get done. There is a lot of re-engineering with the -0D and -0B, redesigning the whole cockpit for two seats and making sure it looks good doesn't come easy. I hope they do it though. Vostok 7

We will see. I've placed my bet on the Stick-type, but if the Toynami ones end up good then I'll probably get the rest as Toynamis and save a few bucks. I just don't want to wait (I'm impatient! ), and I just have a hard time trusting (and supporting ) Toynami after such a storied history But! Don't get me wrong, like I said, I hope that the Toynami versions are good because I want to collect them all and I don't mind saving a few bucks! Oh, and I understand your argument about the engineering, but Yamato has proven that time and time again even with a flawlessly engineered product, not watching your QC people like a hawk can ruin the whole thing. Yamato's gotten better, but only because everyone constantly complained, and even then there are lemons. Toynami never showed much interest in improving QC... Maybe that's changed with the past few releases, but 3rd degree burns are hard to heal Vostok 7

Engineering and the like have nothing to do with my issue. The Toynami Alphas weren't bad from an engineering standpoint, but they were all bad from a QC standpoint. Beagle engineered the product, yes, but they are asking over $50 more for it in their home market than Toynami is, and that $50+ isn't made up with a different head (which costs more on the manufacturing end because of different molds) and a "fancier box" (which costs more than Beagle's box undoubtedly) and shipping across an ocean (which isn't cheap at all at the kinds of quantities these will be imported in for Toynami)... It's got to come from somewhere, and in Toynami's history, that somewhere has been QC. I don't have a Beta and I probably will never get one, so I can't say how it is, but people praised Toynami's first Alpha (mainly because it was the first transforming Alpha/Leigoss we had seen in many years) and it was a pile of steaming crap. Maybe the Beta's better, but when you start at the bottom the only place you can go is up To illustrate what I mean, see what the general opinion is of various Toynami products: The 1/55 MPC VF-1s sucked, and not just the QC The 'Superposables' were not even close to "super" posable and had lots of issues with paint application The 1/100 Valks were junk The Alphas were steaming piles of crap About the only thing decent they ever did were the transforming Joke-Machine style toys, but those are nearly impossible to get wrong So you can see why I'm a skeptic when it comes to Toynami getting their hands on something, especially with such a significant price difference in the mix. I was going to hold out for the Toynami, but I love the box-art Beagle came up with and I worry that Toynami is going to have the factory "cut corners" to meet the lower price point (over $50 lower!). Not that Aoshima's Leigoss vs. Toynami's Alpha was any indication (since they both sucked hardcore), just Toynami doesn't inspire me with confidence because they haven't put out a decent product yet. Doesn't mean that this couldn't be a first, just I'd rather get a already done release that we now know what it's like and not hedge my bets that Toynami's sticky fingers won't get all over the beautiful Beagle by the time it gets here.
