  1. Damn, you're good, JELEINEN. Take it away.
  2. I seriously doubt that Hikaru will make an appearance here. 1. Somehow, that would screw up his debut in the series. I really can't explain how (aside from the fact that he did not participate in the Unification War), but I just don't see him appearing in Zero. 2. Hikaru's seiyuu, Arihiro Hase, died several years ago. Hikaru just isn't the same without him. (Just look at the newer Lupin III specials. It ain't the same without the late Yasuo Yamada.) Thus, my vote goes to Gloval.
  3. While I grew up watching Macross, it was Macross Plus that made me a fan. Until now, I still consider it to be the best of the entire Macross saga. That is, until the final episode of Macross Zero.
  4. Now for a seiyuu trivia question: Name two anime titles featuring the voices of Tomokazu Seki, Shinichiro Miki and Michiko Neya.
  5. Koko wa Greenwood (Here is Greenwood).
  6. Go for it, VHD.
  7. MacrossVF-1S and kouwen...
  8. In Project A-Ko, the movie playing in the theater is a parody of which '80s anime film?
  9. 107, making her the 108th generation Mamono Hunter.
  10. Ninja Mono ( Ninja者 ) AIC/Youmex, 1996 AnimeWorks, 1999 Directed by Eiji Suganuma Rated 13-Up for graphic violence, slight nudity, mature situations and strong language. During Japan's feudal era, there is a war between two ninja clans: the Byakuro and the Kabusu. Then, one night, the Kabusu stage a fierce attack on the Byakuro castle in hopes of kidnapping the clan's infant princess. Their mission is foiled when a loyal ninja of the Byakuro flees the attack with the princess and disappears, eventually raising her to be a ninja. Several years later, six ninja trainees are given a mission to infiltrate the Kabusu-occupied Byakuro castle and retrieve a sacred scroll to complete their training. But their skills are put to the test when they encounter three members of the Kabusu, who use dark sorcery in an attempt to once again capture the princess - who happens to be one of the trainees. Story: C Ninja Mono's plot is very promising, but within a mere two episodes, it suffers from pacing that seems rushed and character development that's nearly non-existent. AIC (Tenchi Muyo!, Ah! My Goddess) and Youmex (Bubblegum Crisis, Hades Project Zeorymer) shoud've at least made this OAV run for 6 or more episodes. That would've given more emphasis on each of the ninja trainees - not just Sakura or Matsuri. But overall, it's still worth checking out as a rental. Animation: B+ The animation by AIC is very good; just not within the same level as the Tenchi Muyo! OAVs. Suganuma's character designs, however, take the whole spotlight in this OAV. The list of animators is filled with big names like Hiroaki Gouda (Ah! My Goddess, Please Teacher!) and Keiji Gotoh (Gate Keepers, Kiddy Grade). Soundtrack: B There really isn't much to talk about the soundtrack composed by Takeo Miratsu (Battle Skipper), other than having a J-Pop feel mixed with music usually heard on ninja-oriented videogames. Sub vs. Dub Ninja Mono features Hiroko Konishi (Nene in Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Sae in Magic User's Club) as Sakura, Mami Nakajima (Touko in Witch Hunter Robin) as Matsuri, Harunori Miyata (Joel in Neo-Ranga) as Pochi, Hitomi Miyajima as Yume, Kenichi Suzumura (Shin in Macross Zero, Kamui in X) as Kaoru, Katashi Ishizuka as Hayashi, Maria Kawamura (Jung-Freud in Gunbuster, Naga in Slayers) as Jame, Issei Futumata (Yusaku in Maison Ikkoku, Alan Gabriel in The Big O) as Matsuzaka, Junichi Sugahara as Nikko, and Ikuya Sawaki (Dr. Nanbu in Gatchaman '94) as Yukinobu. Ugh! I can't believe this was Bang Zoom! Entertainment's first English dub. Leaves a bad taste to your mouth. Featured voices include Sandy Fox (Sumomo in Chobits, Risky in Omishi Magical Theater Risky Safety) as Sakura, Lia Sargent (Hand Maid May, Dorothy in The Big O) as Matsuri, Mona Marshall (Tsukikage Ran, Motoko in Love Hina) as Pochi, Georgette Rose (Chii in Chobits, Meow in Tsukikage Ran) as Yume, Jack Cox as Kaoru, Lex Lang (Gineas in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Goemon in Lupin III) as Hayashi and Matsuzaka, Beth Wernick as Jame, David Umansky (Keitaro in Love Hina, Lin in Cowboy Bebop) as Nikko, and Steve Kramer (Sanders in Gundam 08th MS Team, Elder in A Little Snow Fairy Sugar) as Yukinobu. DVD Extras:C- You get an image gallery and some outtakes from the English dub that isn't even very funny. All this, plus menu narrations by Sandy Fox. The Bottom Line While so full of potential, Ninja Cadets! falls short due to a rushed storyline and character development that needs work. At least it's better than Ninja Resurrection. Strictly rental material. Reference Anime News Network
  11. Download the Anime-In-Action fansubs. They're much better. http://bt.base0.net/aia/
  12. Damn, that was too easy. Ball's on your court, VHD.
  13. According to Anime on DVD, ADV Films has apparently confirmed the English voice cast of the highly acclaimed anime series Azumanga Daioh. Dub haters, you may want to grab your pitchforks for this: - Jessica Boone (Misaki in Angelic Layer, Arumi in Magical Shopping District Abenobashi) as Chiyo Mihama - Kira Vincent-Davis (Najica Blitz Tactics, Quon in RahXephon) as Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga - Christine M. Auten (Priss in Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Marvel in Aura Battler Dunbine) as Sakaki - Mandy Clark (Mawata in Pretear, Mishima in RahXephon) as Tomo Takino - Nancy Novotny as Koyomi Mizuhara - Allison Sumrall (A.I. in Full Metal Panic!, Rinna Charat in Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat) as Kagura - Luci Christian (Kaname in Full Metal Panic!, Dejiko in Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat) as Yukari Tanizaki - Monica Rial (Haruka in RahXephon, Kirika in NOIR) as Minamo "Nyamo" Kurosawa - Tiffany Grant (Asuka in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gema in Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat) as Kaorin - Andy McAvin (Jean-Jacques in Spriggan, Icchan in Angelic Layer) as Kimura - Hilary Haag (Karinka in Steel Angel Kurumi, Teletha in Full Metal Panic!) as Chihiro
  14. Well, since the correct answer to the last question wasn't given, it's time to reset the clock. Today's question - Jeopardy!-style: "Tatsumaki Fighter" is a special attack used in this classic anime TV series.
  15. Here's an alternate link to the fansub: http://a.scarywater.net/aone/
  16. Interesting. I'll download it tonight. Hope these guys are as good as Anime-Keep.
  17. Well, they did co-produce Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Ninja Scroll: The Series.
  18. What about Urban Vision?
  19. Yeah. Seriously, why is 4kids on the list? And all this time, I was expecting TOKYOPOP to be on the polls.
  20. Who the hell voted for 4kids?
  21. Or lack of participants. Only one person placed his votes while everyone else just ranted on the thread. And I agree with dejr8bud. Ali Sama seriously needs to learn to type. It's impossible for anyone to understand what he's saying.
  22. And now for something different: It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that anyone who watches R.O.D -The TV- completely digs the music. Here's a mini-review of the opening and ending singles. YKZ: Expect the Unexpected SME Records, 2003 U.S. Distributor Pending Kensho Akimitsu - Guitars Tatsuo Ogawa - Vocals Hikeki Tanaka - Bass Track Listing 1. No Frontin' 2. Illegular 3. R.O.D 4. Theme of YKZEE 5. Never Go Back 6. Illegular (Shaolin Mix) 7. No Frontin' (Quarashi Mix) This is some funky sh*t to bang your head to, Shake that @$$, just like we do, So please everybody put your hands in the air, Just like we don't care! I hate hip-hop. Maybe because I grew up in a neighborhood where everyone was listening to metal music and beating up people wearing baggy pants. But despite all this, I got hooked on YKZ's latest mini-album. The trio from Japan use a very unorthodox mix of jazz, rock, hip-hop, and funk; and unlike Limp Bizkit, their music actually sounds good. The band's headbanging "R.O.D" instrumental captures the jazzy atmosphere of the TV series, but it's the songs "No Frontin'" and "Theme of YKZEE" that steal the show with their funky beats. As the CD title states: "Expect the Unexpected." Well, I never expected the CD to be this good. Pick it up now. Rating: A -- kazami with Home Grown: Moments in the Sun SME Records, 2003 U.S. Distributor Pending Track Listing 1. Moments in the Sun 2. Moments in the Sun `AKIRA'S VENTURA HIGHWAY REMIX` 3. Moments in the Sun (Instrumental) From YKZ's headbanging opening theme and Taku Iwasaki's retro-jazz soundtrack, we move on to a calm, tropical atmosphere with R.O.D -The TV's ending theme "Moments in the Sun" by kazami. The 16-year-old singer mesmerizes you with her relaxing vocals and the song's upbeat instrumentals. While this is only a single with one remix and an instrumental, "Moments in the Sun" is a great add-on to your soundtrack collection. Rating: A-
  23. SPOILER ALERT!!! Do not read further unless you have reached the halfway point of the series. Apparently, the first 11 episodes were just a warm-up for what's in store for Nenene and the Paper Sisters. As soon as they return to Hong Kong, Nenene is kidnapped by Lee and brought to Dokusensha. At the same time, Joker, Wendy and Junior go to Dokusensha to analyze the books they've recovered. Anita, Michelle and Maggie storm into the organization's main headquarters to rescue Nenene, fending off the heavy security and the deadly paper user Wong. Meanwhile, during the attack, Joker and Co. take all the data they need and bail out. In the aftermath of the battle, Nenene is rescued, Lee dies, Wong is presumed dead, and the entire Dokusensha complex (and a small portion of Hong Kong) is obliterated. This is the best mix of non-stop action and suspense since the OAV series. If you watched the OAV series, you're already familiar with the "I-Jin." However, while the villains of the series were I-Jin, it was never known who brought them back from the dead in the first place. It looks like that question mark will finally be answered within R.O.D -The TV-.
