  3. You ain't gonna read anything from me when it comes to TV results. I don't watch that crap anymore.
  4. Going back on the subject of Hollywood: Spring 2004 - The Rock will grab a 2x4, shine it up real nice, turn that sonuvabitch sideways and stick it straight up... Walking Tall
  5. First, some WWE Superstars go to Hollywood. Now the WWE itself is going to Hollywood. This in from The Hollywood Reporter: A horror movie, huh? I wouldn't be surprised if the character is Stephanie McMahon without makeup.
  6. Well, folks, there's just no way to get rid of Triple-H. WWE Armageddon Results Sunday Night Heat Opener Rico beat some jobber John Heidenreich. Yes, the same poem-writing, commentator-raping Heidenreich we see on SmackDown! every week. Booker T. def. Mark Henry with the scissors kick. WWE Intercontinental Championship (Special Guest Referee: Mick Foley) Randy Orton gave Rob Van Dam the RKO to become the new I-C Champion. Battle of the Sexes Chris Jericho and Christian def. Lita and Trish Stratus after Christian rolled Trish for the pin. Apparently, Y2J wasn't happy with the outcome, and it looks like he'll turn face by the end of the year. Legend vs. Legend Killer II Shawn Michaels def. Batista with a superkick. The Maven vs. Matt Hardy ver.1 match was called off because Batista refused to leave the ring and powerbombed Maven. He brought in the last tag team to face the Dudleyz - Batista & Ric Flair. - Batista & Flair def. the Dudleyz with a powerbomb on D-Von to become the new Tag Team Champions. WWE Women's Championship Molly Holly reversed a rollup on Ivory to retain the title. World Heavyweight Championship - Triple-Threat Kane had choke-slammed Goldberg, but before he could pin him, Batista pulled him out of the ring and restrained him. As a result, Triple-H took the pin to regain the World Championship. At the end of the PPV, the Evolution celebrated by showing all of their newly-won title belts.
  7. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...t=ST&f=2&t=3900 Yeah, I did it again. Please delete the above post. Thanks.
  8. PEACE MAKER 鐵 GONZO Digimation/TV Asahi/Imagica, 2003-2004 ADV Films, 2005 Directed by Tomohiro Hirata (Melty Lancer, Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01) Rated 17+ for extreme violence and gore, mature situations and strong language. The year is 1864 - the first year of the Genji Era in Japan. After seeing his parents murdered by a Choshuu samurai, 15-year-old Tetsunosuke Ichimura enlists to join the elite Shinsengumi army as a means to become stronger and avenge his parents. But upon attempting to enlist, he learns the hard way that in order to become a Shinsengumi, he must part with his humanity and fight like a demon. Story: B+ Unlike Samurai Deeper Kyo, Peace Maker Kurogane does have a plot to follow and has a set of characters that grow on you. Tetsunosuke brings life to the series with his spunky personality and iron-clad determination, not to mention his small size. And you can't get enough of the hilarious duo of Shinpachi and Sanosuke. Peace Maker Kurogane is an excellent blend of action, comedy and drama rarely seen since Rurouni Kenshin. Animation: A+ Akemi Hayashi's (Fruits Basket) character designs blend perfectly with GONZO's trademark mix of digital 2D and 3D animation. The fight scenes may not be Ninja Scroll or Rurouni Kenshin, but they're much better to watch than Samurai Deeper Kyo. Soundtrack: A "Yeah! Come on! You gonna feel so! Yeah! Come on!" Peace Maker Kurogane follows Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai Deeper Kyo in the tradition of incorporating hard rock into samurai anime. Keiichi Oku's (Ashita no Nadja) score is highly impressive, as well as the opening and ending themes by Hav. Sub vs. Dub Peace Maker Kurogane features Yumiko Kobayashi (Puni Puni Poemi, Sarah in Love Hina) as Tetsunosuke, Mitsuki Saiga (Tsukasa in .hack//SIGN, Junior in R.O.D -The TV-) as Souji, Johji Nakata (Alucard in Hellsing, Jack in Yukikaze) as Hijikata, Yuji Ueda (Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi-yo! Masaru-san, Keitaro in Love Hina) as Tatsunosuke, Mikako Takahashi (Kasumi in Hand Maid May, Fujio in I My Me! Strawberry Eggs) as Saya and Saizo, Takahiro Sakurai (Shun in Gate Keepers, Boma in Heat Guy J) as Suzumu, Yuka Imai (Futaba in Puni Puni Poemi, Otaru in Saber Marionette J/J Again/J to X) as Suzu, Kenji Nomura as Sanosuke, Kappei Yamaguchi (Ranma 1/2, Inu-Yasha) as Shinpachi, Yuko Nagashima (Caldina in Magic Knight Rayearth, Rina in Saint Tail) as Ayumu, Takaya Hashi as Isami, Masashi Ebara (Eat-Man, Cowboy Andy in Cowboy Bebop) as Ryoma, Norihiro Inoue (Master Keaton) as Keisuke, Toshiyuki Morikawa (Space Knight Tekkaman Blade, Alex in Last Exile) as Ryunosuke, Nanae Katou (Princess TuTu, Chika in Asagiri no Miko) as Hana, Junichi Suwabe (Katana in Gad Guard, Fuuma in X) as Toshimaru, Kosuke Toriumi (Heisenberg in Di Gi Charat, Hayate in Pretear) as Heisuke, Michiko Neya (Nancy in Read Or Die, Melissa in Full Metal Panic!) as Akari, and Shinichiro Miki (Alan in Escaflowne, Kurz in Full Metal Panic!) as Aoga. English dub review coming next year. DVD Extras Under construction. The Bottom Line GONZO tries out samurai anime and scores big with Peace Maker Kurogane. Despite not being close to the manga, it's still worth checking out. Links Official Peace Maker Kurogane Homepage (Japanese) Reference Anime News Network
  9. Wow. The series just got better with episode 10, which improves character development between Usagi-chan and Rei-chan. And the Sailor Scouts finally confront Queen Beryl. I can't wait for episode 11, when the series begins to focus on Minako.
  10. Just finished doing some translation for the Anime News Network Encyclopedia entry. Here's the staff and cast listing: Staff Screenplay: Hiroshi Ohnogi (Heat Guy J, Macross Zero) Mechanical Design: Hiroaki Sato (A.D. Police Files, Key the Metal Idol) Production Coordination: Ryousuke Takahashi (Gasaraki, Armored Trooper VOTOMS) Series Supervisor: Isamu Imagake (Street Fighter II: The Movie, Ehrgeiz) Cast Takehito Koyasu (Il Palazzo in Excel Saga, Gamlin in Macross 7) as Shin Kazama Shinichiro Miki (Alan in Escaflowne, Kurz in Full Metal Panic!) as Makoto Shinjou Tomokazu Seki (Van in Escaflowne, Sousuke in Full Metal Panic!) as Micky Simon Hiroki Takahashi (Genjo Sanzo in Read Or Die, Kinryu in Macross 7) as Saki Vashtal Hikaru Midorikawa (Heero in Gundam Wing, Ryuhou in s-CRY-ed) as Kanzaki
  11. Dude, that kicks major ass! You got mad skills there, Totenkupf.
  12. Man, if they want to put a Russian chick in an anime, they should get Yulia Nova instead. (BTW, due to obvious reasons, I can't post any of her pics or fanpages here. Just do a Yahoo! or Google search. You get the idea.)
  13. This Sunday night, WWE will be hosting Armageddon, the franchise's last PPV of the year. Here's the official card, along with my predictions: World Heavyweight Championship - Triple-Threat: Goldberg vs. Triple-H vs. Kane Like anyone needs a crystal ball to predict this one. Who else is running the show? WWE Intercontinental Championship: Rob Van Dam vs. Randy Orton He jobbed last Monday on RAW. His contract's up by the end of the year. And he's one of several superstars who have backstage problems with Triple-H. Will RVD's career be decided this Sunday? No, this is not the angle being portrayed on TV, but you already know that RVD is not very happy with the way things are going. I hate to say this, but it looks like he'll drop the title, especially since WWE is seriously pushing Orton as the "Legend Killer." And we may not see RVD on WWE next year unless a miracle happens. WWE Tag Team Championship The Dudley Boyz defend their belts against Mark Jindrak & Garrison Cade, Val Venis & Lance Storm and Hurricane & Rosey in a Tag Team Turmoil. My bet's on either the Dudleyz or Val/Storm. Batista vs. Shawn Michaels Let's face it: Michaels is not the same wrestler as he was nearly a decade ago. Not to mention the fact that he has already jobbed to 3/4 of the Evolution. There's no way in hell that he'll win this one, especially with WWE pushing Batista's undefeated streak (he's only lost in tag team matches). Booker T. vs. Mark Henry Seriously, what did Booker T. do to deserve this match? I'd be dead-pissed if he jobbed to Mark Henry again. Battle of the Sexes: Trish Stratus/Lita vs. Chris Jericho/Christian Without a doubt, Y2J and Christian will win this one. And they won't need Matt Hardy ver. 1's help on this (even though he will play a key factor in this match).
  14. Nah. He was too busy for me to tell him about that. Besides, he probably doesn't even know what an MPC is or why it's on display under all the wrestling belts. I'd tell his wife, but she'd probably kick me out of the store.
  15. Yeah, I remember that show. Back when I was in the Philippines, Cartoon Network Asia showed it in English under the title Ninja Robots. Don't know who dubbed it, though (has to be some small company in North America).
  16. I will be watching it this Sunday. Full results will be posted shortly after the PPV. BTW, Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a mess. No wonder he needs the cash so badly. Just like the time Demolition Ax was selling his WWF Tag Team belt for $10,000 (which probably includes a plane ticket for him to personally deliver it to you).
  17. Hey, don't give Michael Jackson any ideas.
  18. Thanks. Having met three WWE Superstars in a span of two weeks is a major achievement to me. Lita is very cool in person. She asked about our wrestling site (http://www.topwrestling.com/) and she was very interested in joining our radio show as a guest. It's just that WWE is very strict with letting their Superstars appear anywhere. I was surprised that she looked much better in person than on TV (must be the make-up, as my co-worker tells me nightmares about her during her ECW days as Miss Congeniality). RVD didn't stay too long with the fans. He just dropped by to see how sales went in the store. He shook hands and gave high-fives to everyone, but in a way, you could tell he wasn't in a good mood (hey, wouldn't you be if you jobbed on RAW and had to drop the I-C title this Sunday?). Speaking of I-C title, he brought his belt in, all scratched up with one jewel missing on the front. You could see the name plate labeled "VAN DAM" on the front of the belt. Other than that, RVD's still a cool guy. I hope to see him again in the near future.
  19. They didn't. A 3D-based game like that was way too advanced for the time. Games released during 1984 were either vector graphics (Star Wars), 2D sprites (TRON) or LD-based with no game graphics (Dragon's Lair). Universal still has the mock-up unit in one of their backlots, though.
  20. More brushes with greatness earlier tonight:
  21. Damn, that's a bitchin' Gunstar right there. Wish I had mad skills like that.
  22. Given the reviews so far, you'll probably hate the new Galactica more than G-Saviour. But then again, that's almost impossible, as G-Saviour is practically second to Battlefield Earth as the worst sci-fi ever conceived.
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu6Nymps5WA The Last Starfighter Lorimar/Universal Pictures, 1984 Directed by Nick Castle (Major Payne, Mr. Wrong) Running Time: 101 minutes Rated PG for violence and strong language. Cast Lance Guest (Jimmy in Halloween II, Michael in Jaws: The Revenge) as Alex Rogan/Beta Unit "Alex" Dan O'Herlihy (1919-2005) (The Old Man in RoboCop, Franklin D. Roosevelt in MacArthur) as Grig Catherine Mary Stewart (Gwen in Weekend at Bernie's) as Maggie Gordon Robert Preston (1918-1987) (Harold Hill in The Music Man) as Centauri Norman Snow (Springfield in Manhunter, Torin in Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Xur Dan Mason as Lord Kril Kay E. Kuter (1925-2003) as Enduran Barbara Bosson (Fay in Hill Street Blues) as Jane Rogan Chris Hebert as Louis Rogan Vernon Washington (1927-1988) (Rev. Mills in Roots: The Next Generations) as Otis Heather Locklear (Tommy Lee and Richie Sambora's ex) as a Rylan indoctrinator (uncredited) Wil Wheaton (Wesley in Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Louis' friend (deleted scene) "Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Kodan Armada." - Starfighter Videogame Introduction Synopsis Alex Rogan is a normal teenager who has dreams of getting out of his trailer park neighborhood and achieving long-term success. But all of that is put on hold when his dream college rejects his request for admission. Then one night, after achieving a record-breaking score on a videogame machine called "Starfighter," he is paid a visit from Centauri - an elderly man who invented the game. Alex reluctantly steps into Centauri's car and is brought to the distant planet of Rylos. To his surprise, Alex has been recruited by the Star League as a gunner for the force's Gunstar units. Alex turns down the offer and requests to return to Earth, not knowing that the evil Xur and the Kodan Armada launch an attack on the Star League headquarters on his way home. He returns to the decimated base and teams up with ace pilot Grig to commandeer Gunstar-1 - an advanced version of the Star League's fighter. But with the Star League defenseless and the Kodan Armada on the move to conquer the Frontier, does Alex have what it takes to be The Last Starfighter? "Things change. Always do. You'll get your chance! Important thing is, when it comes, you've got to grab with both hands, and hold on tight!" - Otis Lowdown When it comes to science fiction, many people first think of Star Wars or Star Trek, as they both revolutionized the genre in the 20th century with their intricate storytelling and groundbreaking special effects. But in 1984, there was one movie that dared to challenge both film franchises with a down-to-earth plot and special effects that no one had ever seen. "I must congratulate you on your virtuoso performance, my boy. Centauri is impressed. I've seen 'em come, and I've seen 'em go, but you're the best, my boy. Dazzling! Light years ahead of the competition! Centauri's got a little proposition for you. Are ya interested?" - Centauri Inspired by the videogame craze mixed with T.H. White's classic story The Once and Future King, The Last Starfighter takes the basic concept of space opera and an unlikely hero and adds a slice of Americana to it. Instead of a distant desert planet, the main character is just a plain guy living in a trailer park on the hills of Santa Clarita, CA. As a result, you have a Luke Skywalker that just about anyone can identify with. While Lance Guest does a superb performance playing Alex, it's the late Robert Preston who steals the show as the alien con artist Centauri, with his non-stop wit and humor. Sometimes, you have the urge to tell him to shut up, but you just can't help but listen to and sometimes laugh at his memorable quotes. And they really stick to your head. "The amusing thing about this, it's all a big mistake. That particular Starfighter game was supposed to be delivered to Vegas, not some flea-speck trailer park in the middle of tumbleweeds and tarantulas. So it must be fate, destiny, blind chance, luck even, that brings us together. And as the poet said, the rest is history." - Centauri For every sci-fi film, there's a hero to cheer for and villains to hate. The villain of this film is Xur, the former son of Star League leader Enduran who has turned his back on the federation and joined the Kodan Armada. The band of villains are what you may normally find in every sci-fi movie, but where else can you find a second-in-command with a mechanical eyepiece? "Well, you may have thought it was a game, but it was also a test. Aha, a test! Sent out across the galaxy to find those with the potential to be Starfighters. And here you are, my boy! Here you are!" - Centauri If Star Wars has the X-Wing Fighter, The Last Starfighter has the Gunstar-1 - a fast and powerful spacecraft armed to the teeth with lasers, missiles...and two words: Death Blossom. If only someone made a model kit of this... Grig: "Remember, Death Blossom delivers only one massive volley at close range...theoretically." Alex: "What do you mean, 'theoretically?'" Grig: "After all, D.B. has never been tested. It might overload the systems, blow up the ship!" Alex: "What are you worried about, Grig? Theoretically, we should already be dead!" As for the special effects, The Last Starfighter caught everyone by surprise with its high-quality computer-generated action scenes. Using the powerful Cray supercomputer, Digital Productions produced realistic, mind-blowing effects at a lower budget than using animatronics and miniatures. It didn't introduce CG (TRON and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan experimented with it two years earlier), but it made audiences and filmmakers aware of the full potential of computer graphics. Today, nearly every sci-fi show or movie relies heavily on CG for their effects. And you have The Last Starfighter to thank for that. Craig Safan (Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins) is no John Williams, but his soundtrack captures the essence of the film. You can't help but hum to the movie's main theme, as it's just as memorable as Williams' theme for Star Wars. "Death is a primitive concept; I prefer to think of them as battling evil - in another dimension!" - Grig Overall, The Last Starfighter is one of the best science fiction films ever made. Highly recommended for movie buffs who want a piece of late 20th century sci-fi nostalgia. Rating: A "Teriffic. I'm about to get killed a million miles from nowhere with a gung-ho iguana who tells me to relax." - Alex Rogan DVD Extras: A+ To celebrate the film's 15th anniversary, Universal Pictures threw everything and the kitchen sink into their 1999 DVD release of The Last Starfighter. The movie has been perfectly remastered in an anamorphic widescreen format with crisp Dolby 5.1 surround. In addition, the disc has an exclusive special on the making of The Last Starfighter, hosted by Lance Guest. You get to see how computer-generated special effects evolved from a niche medium to a mandatory standard in today's science fiction features. If you don't have this DVD yet, pick it up now. The Last Starfighter is a sci-fi masterpiece in its own right. "Victory or Death!" - Star League Battle Cry Reference The Internet Movie Database SF Movie Data Bank: The Last Starfighter (Japanese/English)
  24. Hey, how are the new Cylons? Do they still have red lights flashing left to right on their eyes?
