  1. This is the second season. So far, I'm seeing 11 episodes for this series; which means that if Jubei-chan 2 is licensed, you're looking at three discs.
  2. Wrong. Try again.
  3. Jubei-chan 2 ~Siberia Yagyu no Gyakushuu~ ( 十兵衛ちゃん2 ~シベリア柳生の逆襲~ ) Madhouse Studios/TV Tokyo/King Records, 2004 U.S. Distributor Pending Directed by Akitaro Daichi (Now and Then, Here and There, Fruits Basket) Not Rated (Suggested 13-Up). Contains violence, slight nudity, mature situations and strong language. Three hundred years ago, in the frigid land of Siberia, Jubei Yagyu engaged in a fierce battle with Kitaretsusai of the Northern Yagyu clan. The duel was costly, as his daughter Freasha was frozen in suspended animation. As a result of global warming in the present day, Freasha breaks free from her icy grave and moves to Japan as a middle school transfer student, where she befriends Jiyuu Nanohana. Little does Jiyuu know that Freasha is targeting her to acquire the coveted Lovely Eye Patch, which Freasha believes is rightfully hers. Story: B If you thought Jubei-chan: Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch had a rather twisted storyline, get ready for a second serving. Jubei-chan 2 is funnier and more action-packed than its predecessor. Of course, first-timers will need to watch the first series before venturing to this title. Animation: A- The first series had very good animation. Jubei-chan 2 completely blows it away with smoother animation and cleaner artwork, as well as some cool fight scenes. Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Slayers) returns as character designer. Soundtrack: A- Toshiro Masuda (Naruto) is back with some fast-paced music to go with this series. That and an impressive ending theme by Yui Horie. Cast Jubei-chan 2 features Yui Horie (Naru in Love Hina, Ayu in Ultra Maniac) as Jiyuu, Erina Nakayama as Freasha, Reiko Yasuhara (Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran) as Mikage, Hiroki Ohtsu as Shiro, and Natsuyo Atarashi as Kozaru. Reprising their roles are Yuji Ueda (Sexy Commando: Sugoi-yo! Masaru-san, Keitaro in Love Hina as Bantaro, Keiji Fujiwara (Eledore in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Edmundo in Heat Guy J) as Sai, and Chinami Nishimura (Greta in A Little Snow Fairy Sugar, Kiki in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team) as Ozaru. The Bottom Line If you liked Jubei-chan, you will enjoy Jubei-chan 2. It's sword-slashing comedy like no other. 4. In Jubei-chan 2: The Counterattack of the Siberia Yagyu, what is the shape of Freasha's eyepatch?
  5. Unfortunately, Heyman firing Faarooq goes beyond the storyline. Earlier today, Ron Simmons was officially released from the WWE. Looks like the APA is gone for good.
  6. Indeed he does, but I think he's undergoing a slow transition from the biker look to the old-school Dead Man. Until his hair is fully grown, we'll have to get used to his current look for now.
  7. What is Engrish without SNK?
  8. The 12-hour limit has expired, halfan. Post another question.
  9. Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows Trimark Home Video, 1998 (Out of Print) Directed by Paul Jay Rated R for violence, mature situations and profanity. "I am the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be." It was supposed to be a film biography on then-WWF World Heavyweight Champion Bret "Hitman" Hart, who had just signed a 20-year contract with the company. But when the camera started rolling, little did director Paul Jay realize that he was capturing the fall of professional wrestling as we know it. Facing a long losing streak at the hands of WCW, the WWF was taking drastic measures to regain the upper hand at the ratings war. Despite the company's change of atmosphere from colorful and family-oriented federation to dark and racy, Hart wanted no part of Vince's ideals. Vince opted to void Hart's contract and let him jump to WCW. In exchange, Hart would leave the WWF with dignity through a win on his last WWF pay-per-view match at Survivor Series in 1997. But in the end, in his home country of Canada, Bret Hart was screwed of his title, his career and his loyalty to the WWF. There are many documentaries on professional wrestling that are available at your rental store. But next to Barry W. Blaustein's masterpiece Beyond the Mat, no documentary captures the realism of sports entertainment the way Wrestling With Shadows does. (I'd also say The Monday Night War, but it's pretty biased, as it's WWE-produced.) As the title implies, Wrestling With Shadows focuses on the life of Bret Hart, a second-generation wrestler and one of Canada's greatest performers in the squared circle. Outside the ring, Hart talks about his days before lacing up his boots - his high-school days, his early dreams of becoming an aspiring film director, etc. You also see his family and his backstage interaction with other WWF superstars. But what really takes the cake in this documentary is the fateful night in Montreal, Canada, where Vince ordered an impromptu end to Hart's title defense against Shawn Michaels. No one outside the WWF had the guts to capture what happened backstage after the show ended, but it can all be seen here, including Hart's altercation with Michaels. (Unfortunately, you won't see Hart punching Vince's lights out on this video.) The film ends with Hart talking about his divorce and his jump to WCW. Too bad the documentary doesn't cover his years in WCW, where he was forced to retire after Goldberg gave him a severe concussion. Wrestling With Shadows is out of print, but still available at Amazon.com and a few other stores. Why it's not on DVD is a good question. Rating: A Reference Bret Hart's Official Homepage
  10. An update on Brock Lesnar leaving the WWE, from TOPWRESTLING.com: More on Kurt Angle's condition:
  11. After what he did with The Lost World and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, I can't trust him with sci-fi.
  12. Well, remember what happened to the last adaptation of an H.G. Wells novel?
  13. Quite frankly, there hasn't been a decent adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells novel. For those who haven't read the book, War of the Worlds takes place in late-19th century London - NOT 1950s Los Angeles as depicted in the 1953 movie.
  14. I'll pick this up next week.
  15. So did Chojuushin Gravion, but you don't see anyone raving over that title.
  16. My My Mai J.C. Staff/Apple Video, 1993 U.S. Manga Corps, 1995, 2003 Directed by Osamu Sekita (U-Jin Brand, Transformers Car Robots) Rated 16-Up for T&A, HLA and S&M. Follow the misadventures of sex counselor Mai Waku as she solves unusual sex-related problems from her male clients. Story: C- Just what we need: another borderline hentai anime that simply doesn't deliver. My My Mai relies too much on slapstick comedy and a few vulgar jokes. Of all the ecchi titles I've seen, this one put me to sleep after the first episode. Animation: C+ Though J.C. Staff (Azumanga Daioh, R.O.D -The TV-) is credited for the production, My My Mai was animated by a studio called Marsa Co. (which seems to be based in India, given the names of the animators). Apparently, J.C. Staff does not list My My Mai on their website as one of their works, probably because the artwork is rather lackuster and the animation is passable. Soundtrack: C The BGM is generic and the songs by Akiko Yajima aren't very memorable. Sub vs. Dub My My Mai features Akiko Yajima (Dorothy in The Big O, Anakin in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace) as Mai, Sho Hayami (Max in Macross and Macross 7, Gineas in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team) as the Black Count/Dr. Ben K. Shinobi, Shigezo Sasaoka (Goura in Zenki) as the Shinjuku Granny, and Toshiyuki Morikawa (Space Knight Tekkaman Blade, Alex in Last Exile) as Ryouichi. Additional voices by Keiji Fujiwara (Eledore in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Sai in Jubei-chan), Kumiko Nishihara (Iris in Sakura Wars, Shiori in Revolutionary Girl Utena), Masashi Hirose (Ranba Ral in Mobile Suit Gundam, Stinger in Getter Robo Armageddon), Tomoe Hanba (Mikoto in King of Braves GaoGaiGar, Lucciola in Last Exile), and Naoko Matsui (Katsumi in Silent Möbius, Pai in Dangaio). Because I fell asleep halfway through the disc, I'm not gonna bother listening to the English dub. DVD Extras: B Aside from a character menu and an image gallery, the DVD includes the original live-action ending sequence, which features a "Miss My My Mai" beauty contest. Probably the only redeeming factor of this title. The Bottom Line Rent My My Mai if you want to. Otherwise, skip it. There's better ecchi anime out there. Reference Anime News Network
  17. Ball's in your court, halfan.
  18. Time's up. A. Bo-Bobo uses his armpit hair for his "Sparkling" attack. Next question, Jeopardy!-style: Tenkai is the name of the villain in this 1985 anime movie.
  19. Wasn't as bad as Austin picking up a guitar and singing. "Here's a little song my dad used to sing to me, and it'll make you feel better, Vince." (Strums guitar) "Kumbaya my Lord, Kumbaya..."
  20. Exactly. Just look at Stone Cold Steve Austin.
  21. Yes, your answer is... INCORRECT! Try again.
  22. Time to keep the ball rolling. Q. In Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, what does Bo-bobo use for his "Sparkling" attack?
  23. Latest injury updates (if you count implant leakage as an injury) from TOPWRESTLING.COM: Could Kurt Angle be gone from wrestling for good?
  24. Yeah, and they'll call it Cyclonus.
