  1. Yesterday, I was hoping to pick up Bubba Ho-tep on DVD and review it, but I got distracted when I saw the Steel Angel Kurumi Complete Collection in stock. Furthermore, Best Buy had the complete Dukes of Hazzard first season, and I couldn't resist that, either. As a result, I won't be able to pick up this movie until the end of the month because next week's paycheck will go to The A-Team season 1, and I'll be in the Philippines for the next two weeks afterwards. In the meantime, I have a question for those who have seen Bubba Ho-tep: Is it worth checking out at all?
  2. Steel Angel Kurumi Complete Collection ( 鋼鉄天使くるみ ) OLM/WOWOW/Pony Canyon, 1999-2001 ADV Films, 2004 Directed by Naohito Takahashi (Berserk, Figure 17). Rated 17+ for violence, T&A, HLA and S&M. Pawafuru Mirakuru ima kuru, Hajikeru Majikaru Wandafuru, Ririkaru komikaru koi suru toroderu, Mi-Ra-Ku-Ru-Mi! Seven discs, one low price! Steel Angel Kurumi Complete Collection compiles the series that started it all, along with the OAV spinoff Steel Angel Kurumi Encore and the less-than stellar sequel Steel Angel Kurumi 2 - all for just $39.98 at Best Buy! How can you possibly beat that? Sub vs. Dub After spending two years with fansubs, I finally picked up the R1 DVDs and listened to the English dub for the first time. Man, I thought the Azumanga Daioh dub was bad; this one's actually even worse. None of the voice actresses sound as good as the Japanese versions; the worst being Kelli Cousins' version of Kurumi being severely flat and completely devoid of the character's cuteness. No "Kyuuin!", no Steel Angel Kurumi! Stick to the Japanese dialogue. DVD Extras: A Omake! Omake! Rarely does an anime DVD throw in such goodies to go with the series. This collection is loaded with these extras: - Extended episode previews - Textless opening and ending sequences - Character bios - Original VHS/LD/DVD cover art - Original manga cover art - Concept sketches - Historical background on the Taisho Era - Onmyou background - Text interviews with Kaishaku, Naohito Takahashi and other staff members - Printable Fortune Teller files - Translator's notes - Concept sketches - Seiyuu selected works - A mini-comic preview of the Steel Angel Kurumi manga The only reason why it doesn't get an A+ is because of useless garbage like interviews and photoshoots with the English voice cast. Otherwise, it's pure omake heaven for any Otaku. The Bottom Line Without a doubt one of the best DVD bargains of the year, Steel Angel Kurumi Complete Collection should be on your shopping list. 3. Apparently, I wasn't able to watch it last week due to various reasons, but hopefully, I'll watch it this weekend.
  4. Did you like Reign: The Conqueror?
  5. The animated Van Helsing DVD was sold out everywhere before I got a chance to pick it up. How is it compared to the movie?
  6. Good News: HobbyLink Japan has replenished most of their stock on Dekaranger toys, including the DX Dekaranger Robo. http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist.cgi?Ser...ka+Ranger&Dis=2 Bad News: DX Dekabase Robo and Murphy K-9 D-Bazooka are backordered. However, you can get Dekabase Robo on eBay from a Hong Kong seller for $109.99. Beware, though - as shipping to the U.S. is $55. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=5901763891 Thanks to StealthLurker for the heads-up on the auction link above.
  7. I hope it doesn't end up looking like Reign: The Conqueror.
  8. Bandai proves to everyone that size does matter. DX Dekabase Robo
  9. SPOILER ALERT!!! Do not read further unless you've reached episode 7. Episode 6: Green Mystery 「グリーン・ミステリー」 Not much happens on this episode other than the following: - For the first time ever, an alien escapes deletion while being judged. This is also the first time judgment is held via Dekaranger Robo. - We find out that Sen likes to sleep a lot and can't think unless he does a handstand. Episode 7: Silent Telepathy 「サイレント・テレパシー」 The series begins to have a darker feel here, as we slowly learn more about Jasmine-chan. Unfortunately, this episode ends in a cliffhanger as Ban and Jasmine-chan are being shot at by Igaroid, the latest Droid creation by Agent Aburela. Next time on Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger Episode 8: Rainbow Vision 「レインボー・ビジョン」 - Will Jasmine-chan finally save the day?
  10. Earlier tonight on RAW: - Kane vs. Eugene. What did Kane do to deserve this? - Randy Orton continues to blow spots night after night. - Man, Trish's mic skills are more fake than her implants. Otherwise, it was another flat episode.
  11. I guess no one's seen Figure 17 yet. It's an excellent anime you shouldn't miss, BTW. Answer: D.D.'s alias is Daisuke Domoto, and he's parading around Hokkaido as a photographer. As for the next question, I'll hand it over to Stamen0083.
  12. Episodes 6 and 7 are now available for download. http://bt.base0.net/
  13. Yeah, I thought the episode was a huge improvement over Operation:3. Hopefully, we won't have to wait another year before Bandai releases the next volume on DVD.
  14. I liked the book better than both.
  15. In Figure 17, what is the human alias of D.D., and what is his supposed occupation?
  16. An easy one from me - In which series do we see the Tuatha De Daanan, and what is its captain's special power called? Tuatha De Daanan (a.k.a. "Toybox") is the MITHRIL submarine in Full Metal Panic!. I forgot what the captain's special power was called, though.
  17. We might get our Kamen Rider fix much sooner than expected: - Following the success of their Kikaida DVDs, Hawaii-based JN Productions has licensed all 54 episodes of Kamen Rider V3. - According to the Japan Hero forums, Media Blasters is interested in licensing tokusatsu titles. And judging by the polls, majority of the fans want to see Kamen Rider titles (mostly Kamen Rider 555) hitting U.S. video shops.
  18. They actually made a sequel?
  19. Okay, so they decided to splice in some footage of the Japanese actors. I seriously doubt that both the American and Japanese actors will interact with each other.
