  1. Last night on RAW: - Orton spit a huge load on HHH's face. - Edge got DQ'd for throwing Y2J crotch-first on the top rope. Seriously, when did this become grounds for a DQ? - Kane has been part of some of the worst angles in wrestling history, but the Wedding From Hell may probably top them all. And it also shows how piss-poor Lita is with her mic skills.
  2. Like I said, the list needs updating, especially since Steel and Catwoman aren't on it.
  3. They're also missing Very Bad Things. Now how can you have a bad movie list without that one?
  4. Needs updating, especially since Anacondas and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 are coming out this week.
  5. Oh! Super Milk-chan ( OH! スーパーミルクチャン ) framegraphics/Suplex/Studio Pierrot/WOWOW/Pioneer LDC, 1998, 2000 ADV Films, 2004 Directed by Takahiro Omori (Fancy Lala, Koikaze) Rated 17+ for suggestive drug use (on the part of the production teams) and excessive profanity. Milk-chan is a drooling, potty-mouthed baby who lives in an apartment with an obsolete robot named Tetsuko, a slug named Hanage, and an uncontrollable pet named Robodog. Whenever the President calls, Milk-chan and the gang rush to the scene to solve any type of problem - whether it's stopping a money counterfeiter hungry for Belgian waffles or counseling a school of drunk fish. At the same time, they have to avoid a nagging landlord, as they're six months behind their rent. Story: C (Average) After dealing with Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi-yo! Masaru-san and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, I decided to check out another anime on crack. I picked this up as a birthday present for a former co-worker last week. ADV's release includes both the original 1998 short series (labeled Vintage Milk-chan) and the 2000 series Oh! Super Milk-chan. But there's a catch in the two-disc package: Disc 1 has all of the episodes in Japanese and English. While most of it is funny, a lot of it isn't, as the jokes rely heavily on Japanese culture. Disc 2 is, sort of, the focal point of this review. Titled The Super Milk-chan Show, this is ADV's spin on the series. Much like Saban made Power Rangers and Harmony Gold made Robotech, ADV Americanized Super Milk-chan. The Japanese live-action footage is replaced with short skits of the cast and crew of ADV at work. Jokes involving Michael Jackson and the Olsen twins replace anything deemed too Japanese to understand. Overall, both versions are funny, but the laughs die out quickly after one sitting. Therefore, the series isn't worth keeping. Animation: C (Average) Vintage Milk-chan is mostly crude cel animation with a '60s feel to it, while Oh! Super Milk-chan is all-digital. Regardless of which, the series is no better than the Adult Swim regular Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Soundtrack: C+ You get a disco-style opening theme and some background music that's hardly noticeable. Sub vs. Dub Super Milk-chan features Haruka Nakamura as Milk-chan, Ryoka Yuzuki (Arashi in X, Meifon in Angel Links) as Tetsuko, Brad Pyut (yes, that's his name on the credits) as Hanage, Yuichi Nagashima (Hasami in Mezzo, Jaken in Inu-Yasha) as the President, Hiderou (some famous cross-dresser in Japan) as the Landlord, Nobuo Tobita (Kamille in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Sinistra in Kiddy Grade) as Dr. Eyepatch, and Yuko Minaguchi (Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl, Videl in Dragon Ball Z/GT) as the narrator. The Super Milk-chan Show features Hilary Haag (Karinka in Steel Angel Kurumi, Teletha in Full Metal Panic!) as Milk-chan, Monica Rial (Haruka in RahXephon, Kirika in NOIR) as Tetsuko, Ben Pronsky as Hanage, David Matranga (The Samurai) as Robodog, Mike McRae as the President, Rob Mungle (Pedro in Excel Saga, Bill in Gunsmith Cats) as the Landlord, and Tommy Drake as Dr. Eyepatch. Additional voices by Shelley Calene-Black (Mireille in NOIR, Dr. Amagi in Steel Angel Kurumi), Christopher Patton (Ayato in RahXephon, Sousuke in Full Metal Panic!), Greg Ayres (Chrono Crusade, Kaworu in Neon Genesis Evangelion), Luci Christian (Yukari-sensei in Azumanga Daioh, Chidori in Full Metal Panic!), and Christine M. Auten (Sakaki in Azumanga Daioh, Priss in Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040). Oh yeah, and these guys appear as themselves, too. DVD Extras: B- You get audio commentaries, character Q&A pages, the new opening animation "Disco Milk" and the original Japanese opening and ending sequences (sans audio, so don't try to adjust your volume). Unfortunately, ADV failed to supply liner notes that would've helped explain the Japanese jokes. The Bottom Line The Super Milk-chan Show is practically not worth watching sober. Rent it at most, but buy a six-pack while you're at it. "Bakatsura! ("You dumbass!")" - Milk-chan Links Official Super Milk-chan Homepage (Japanese) Studio Pierrot's Official Oh! 7. CD Japan should have it available once it comes out. I've ordered stuff from them before, and they've shipped faster than they charged my credit card.
  8. You left out one choice: "I don't have one."
  9. This week, Bandai Visual will release a new DVD titled Gunbuster Perfect Guide. The disc includes interviews with director Hideaki Anno, music composer Kouhei Tanaka, and voice actresses Noriko Hidaka (Noriko), Rei Sakuma (Kazumi) and Maria Kawamura (Jung). The DVD will also include a 160-page book with production notes and an illustration gallery. http://www.bandaivisual.co.jp/dbeat/
  10. Nice ride. The RX-8 and Meister aren't too bad, either.
  11. And now a wrap-up on the recent fansubbed episodes of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger: Episode 11: Pride Sniper 「プライド・スナイパー」 An alien ship crashes in the city and the SPD are sent to investigate. Houji finds out that the pilot is Vino, his old friend from the academy. Unfortunately, Houji doesn't know that Vino has left the force to become an Alienizer. Episode 12: Babysitter Syndrome 「ベビーシッター・シンドローム」 When a space pod crashes near the city, our heroes rush to the scene to find a giant alien baby in it. Until the baby's parents are located, Umeko-chan is assigned to babysit her. However, an Alienizer is out to capture the baby for his own personal profit. Episode 13: High Noon Dogfight 「ハイヌーン・ドッグファイト」 When Swan-san is kidnapped and an Alienizer plots a scheme to destroy the city, Dekamaster comes out of retirement to take care of business - Doggie-style. Episode 14: Please, Boss 「プリーズ・ボス」 Doggie shows that even at his age, he can still defeat all five members of Dekaranger in three seconds. He tells them that he'll help them whenever they're in a pinch. But when an Alienizer proves too powerful for the team, Doggie just stands there to watch. Next time on Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger Episode 15: Android Girl 「アンドロイド・ガール」 - Sen falls in love while Dekabase rolls out for combat.
  12. SPOILER ALERT! Do not read further unless you've reached episode 44. With only six episodes to go, the series has been showing a lot of plot twists: - Sailor Moon's true form is triggered by Usagi-chan's feelings of anger and sadness. Mamoru has urged her to stay happy even if they're not together. - There's a rift (not to mention a power struggle) between Rei-chan and Minako-chan. Rei-chan wants Minako-chan to drop the "past life" issues. She even questions Minako-chan if her true powers have actually awakened. - Nephrite slowly gets his powers back. - Zoisite dies at the hands of a Yoma while saving Sailor Moon. - Kunzite commits suicide in an attempt to break free from Queen Beryl's control. Next time on Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Minako-chan loses her powers?
  13. Ou Dorobou Jing ( 王ドロボウJing(ジン) ) Studio DEEN/Aniplex/NHK/SME Visual Works, 2002 ADV Films, 2003 Directed by Hiroshi Watanabe (Star Ocean EX, Video Girl Ai) Rated 13+ for violence, slight nudity, mature situations and strong language. Based on the manga by Yuichi Kumakura (published in the U.S. by TOKYOPOP). Jing may appear to be a young boy, but his remarkable skills make him one of the most feared thieves on the planet. Along with his feathered partner Kir, Jing travels from town to town, stealing anything of value regardless of the amount of security. But when he's in a pinch, he has one more trick up his sleeve: Kir bonds with Jing's right arm to perform the effectively deadly "Kir Royale" attack. And because of all this, Jing is infamously known by many as the "King of Bandits." Story: B Starting with the first episode, it's evident that you won't take this title seriously. While there isn't much of a storyline on the series, King of Bandit Jing makes up for it with some good action and a fair amount of comedy. Animation: B- The artwork is good and the animation is okay. Nothing else to talk about, though. Character designs by Mariko Oka (Matantei Loki Ragnarok). Soundtrack: B+ Aside from the catchy opening "Shout it Loud" and the ending theme "Sha La La", rock band Scudelia Electro supplies a decent musical score. Not Trigun material, but still worth a listen. Sub vs. Dub King of Bandit Jing features Mitsuki Saiga (Tsukasa in .hack//SIGN, Junior in R.O.D -The TV-) as Jing, Ryusei Nakao (Freeza in Dragon Ball Z) as Kir, Shinichiro Miki (Allen in Escaflowne, Shannon in Scrapped Princess) as Postino, Tomohisa Asou as Cognac, Daisuke Gouri (Mari in Project A-Ko, Edmond Honda in Street Fighter II: The Movie) as Vodka, Reiko Suzuki as the old woman, Sakura Nogawa (Kaorin in Azumanga Daioh, Tsubasa in Angel Tales) as Cidre, Yuko Kato as Cidre's mother, Yukari Tamura (Lu in Miami Guns, Ichigo in Please Teacher!/Please Twins) as Rose, and Yui Horie (Jubei-chan 2, Naru in Love Hina) as Mirabelle. There's a reason why ADV Films doesn't use Monster Island (GetBackers, Mazinkaiser) so much for their English dubs: the voice acting is awfully flat on this one. DVD Extras: B Disc 1 features production sketches and clean opening & ending sequences. The Bottom Line For a shonen anime that doesn't offer much, King of Bandit Jing is pretty enjoyable. Go rent it and see for yourself. Links Official King of Bandit Jing Homepage (Japanese) ADV Films' Official King of Bandit Jing Homepage Reference Anime News Network
  14. Let's not forget that the same thing practically happened with Cowboy Bebop during its initial run. TV Tokyo only aired 13 of the 26 episodes (2, 3, 7-15, 18), while WOWOW aired the entire series.
  15. Not good news at all for the Champloo fans (courtesy of the Anime News Network):

  17. Yeah, I miss that stuff, too. At least I found something close to it.
  18. Coke still does Gundam stuff in Hong Kong? That's a surprise. Makes me wonder exactly which side the Gundam franchise is on. BTW, C2 tastes better than Pepsi.
  19. Figure 17: Tsubasa & Hikaru ( フィギュア17つばさ&ヒカル ) by Guy Nakahira Based on the anime series by GENCO & OLM Media Works, 2001-2002 ADV Manga, 2004 Rated ALL (Should be 7+ for some violence and mature situations). If you've seen the anime, you're not missing a lot on this manga adaptation. Very few changes to the original story have been made. The most noticeable is how Tsubasa first becomes Figure 17. And while most manga versions tend to be more violent than their anime counterparts, Figure 17 is the complete opposite. As a matter of fact, it's WAY too toned down. There are fights, but you don't see Figure 17 kill a Magure. You just see her do a punch and the next frame is just a sound effect. On the bright side, the manga has an omake section consisting of 4- or 5-panel skits featuring the cast of the series.
  20. I just got back from watching this movie and I have to say that despite a weak plot (or lack of plot) and a lot of loopholes, AVP was pretty enjoyable. A sequel is certain in the near future, but I hope that FOX doesn't make Alexa (Sanaa Lathan) a Ripley wanna-be. In a nutshell: If you want a story, watch something else. If you want action, AVP is worth checking out.
  21. The truth is that the winner will not get $250K out front. She's just going to win a contract that pays her $250K for one whole year. This alone has most of the regular Divas upset, as they're paid much less than this amount.
  22. Here are the complete results. WWE SummerSlam 2004 Sunday Night Heat Opener Rob Van Dam destroyed Rene Dupree with the Five-Star Frog Splash. The Dudleyz def. Best 3 out of 5 Falls for the U.S. Championship - Round 1 John Cena landed the F-U on Booker T. Cena:1, Booker: 0 WWE Intercontinental Championship - Triple-Threat Edge def. Chris Jericho and Batista after spearing Y2J. Kurt Angle made Eddie Guerrero tap out. Triple-H destroyed Eugene with the Pedigree. Diva Dodgeball The Diva Contestants eliminated all of the regular Divas. After the game, Trish Stratus had a fight with Victoria. WWE Heavyweight Championship John Bradshaw Layfield def. Undertaker by DQ when UT knocked JBL with the belt. After the match, JBL was chokeslammed through the paper roof of his limo. World Heavyweight Championship Randy Orton gave Chris Benoit the RKO to become the new World Champion. After the match, Orton and Benoit shook hands. Don't know why the rest of Evolution didn't show up to celebrate, though.
  23. Don't know about a black version, but here's a page with pics of the new Dekabike Robo: Dekabaike Robo In addition, Dekaranger will have yet another giant robot later this year - Dekawing Robo.
