  1. Finally, we have someone else who hasn't forgotten about Centurions.
  2. If you can't find a Gundam Marker, use a Sakura Pigma Micron 005 pen. It's widely available at Michaels or any art store.
  3. I knew I forgot to mention something on the review... You must check out the gunfight between Natsuko and the Panther Claw thugs. Even though it's cheaply-animated, it puts a smile on fans of The Matrix, Equilibrium and Kill Bill.
  4. Well, we spoke too soon.
  5. Last night on RAW: - Yet another boring Orton vs. Evolution promo. - Did you guys hear what the RAW Diva Search contestants were saying to each other? - Once again, Batista proved to everyone that he can't sell a match. - What was the whole point of the Kane vs. the Hardyz segment? - Christian made his return by attacking Y2J from behind. - Wow...HHH actually jobbed to Eugene after Orton gave him the RKO. Another day, another lame episode of RAW.
  6. Re: Cutie Honey Episode 1: Heaven's Volume ( Reキューティーハニー 『第一話「天」の巻』 ) Dynamic Planning/GAINAX/Laterna/Toei Co. Ltd., 2004 U.S. Distributor Pending Presented by Hideaki Anno (Gunbuster, Neon Genesis Evangelion) Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Dead Leaves) Not Rated (Suggested 17+). Contains graphic violence, gratuitous T&A, HLA and S&M. "HONEY FLASH!" A mysterious organization known as Panther Claw make their presence known by terrorizing Tokyo and giving the cops a run for their money. Police are further baffled by the appearance of a lone cosplaying vigilante who thwarts all of Panther Claw's evil schemes before disappearing. That cosplayer is Honey Kisaragi, the result of the late Professor Kisaragi's prize experiment. A master of disguise, Honey can magically alter her physical appearance and outfits. But with a push of the heart-shaped button on her choker, she transforms herself into Cutie Honey, the scantily-clad, sword-wielding warrior of love and justice. "Stars in the sky! Flowers on the Earth! Love to human beings! Warrior of Love! Cutie Honey!" Story: B+ "Another Cutey Honey remake?" you might ask. Well, to coincide with the recent live-action release, director Hideaki Anno decided that the anime franchise needed a complete makeover. The result: a Cutie Honey title that's funnier and raunchier than its predecessors (the original 1973 series, 1994's New Cutey Honey and 1997's Cutey Honey Flash). Look no further than at Re: Cutie Honey if fan service is what you crave. Animation: B+ Never mind that Re: Cutie Honey looks more cartoonish and has more funky colors than the previous titles. The art style actually suits the title very well. And you gotta dig Natsuko's gunfight scene. Character designs by Sadafumi Hiramatsu (Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi). Soundtrack: B+ Adding to the fun is a retro '60s-style BGM by Susumu Ueda (Narutaru) and a new version of the Cutie Honey anthem by J-Pop sensation Kumi Koda (Final Fantasy X-2). The BGM used in Natsuko's gunfight is even a small homage to Kill Bill. Cast Re: Cutie Honey features Yui Horie (Jubei-chan 2, Naru in Love Hina) as Honey, Junko Noda (Mitsune in Love Hina, Reki in Haibane Renmei) as Natsuko, Hideo Ishikawa (Ryoma in Shin Getter Robo, Fullbody in One Piece) as Seiji, Kazue Itakura as Sister Jill, Noriko Uemura (Queen Metallia in Sailor Moon) as Gold Claw, Yumi Touma (Urd in Ah! My Goddess, Deedlit in Record of Lodoss War) as Black Claw, Mami Kingetsu (Miharu in Gasaraki, Nagisa in If I See You in My Dreams) as Cobalt Claw, Hiromi Konno (Kikou Sen'nyo Rouran) as Scarlet Claw, Yuka Komatsu as Rinko, Tomoko Kaneda (Chiyo-chan in Azumanga Daioh, Bonta-kun in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu) as Mayumi, and Bin Shimada (Stick in Genesis Climber Mospeada, Nakajima in You're Under Arrest) as the assistant manager, The Bottom Line Despite the hokey animation, Re: Cutie Honey is the most enjoyable of all the franchise's animated incarnations. 10. Mahoromatic Summer TV Special: Ecchi Nano wa Ikenai to Omoimasu! ( まほろまてぃっく 夏のTVスペシャル えっちなのはいけないと思います! ) GAINAX/TBS/Pioneer LDC, 2003 Geneon Entertainment, 2004 Directed by Shoji Saeki (Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai) Rated 16-Up for gratuitous T&A and HLA. "All Dirty Thoughts Are Bad!" It's another normal day in the Misato residence when Mahoro finds yet another pornographic magazine in Suguru's room. This prompts her and Minawa to make a pact with Chizuko, Rin, Miyuki and Miss Shikijo to search and confiscate all of the perverted stash in the house. Suguru, Kiyomi and Toshiya must do whatever it takes to protect their treasure from the girls. Story: D+ This story (or lack of) takes place somewhere in the middle of the show's second season Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful. But it doesn't matter, as unless you're a fan of the series, this TV special is a waste of time. All it tells us is exactly why Mahoro hates porn, which is a waste of time. Then, we have Suguru riding the robot panther Slash to run away from Mahoro all the way to Hokkaido - which is, again, a waste of time. Even otaku who are into fanservice will think this is a waste of time, as there really isn't enough T&A. Animation: B As good as the series looks, this TV special is a disappointment, lacking detail and animation quality. Soundtrack: C+ Just the same BGM you hear from the TV series, which is hardly noticeable. The only new song is the ending theme by Triomatic. Sub vs. Dub Reprising their roles are Ayako Kawasumi (Aoi in Ai Yori Aoshi, Megumi in RahXephon) as Mahoro, Fujiko Takimoto (Suguru in Gravitation) as Suguru, Ai Shimizu (Karen in Please Twins, Yuzu in Shrine of the Moring Mist) as Minawa, Atsushi Kisaichi (Shinichi in Kono Mininiku mo Utsukushii Sekai) as Kiyomi, Hideki Ogiwara as Toshiya, Asami Sanada (Di Gi Charat, Shiina in Narutaru) as Chizuko, Manabi Mizuno (Sakurako in Kono Minikiku mo Utsukushii Sekai) as Rin, Yumi Kikuchi (Amika in Kono Minikiku mo Utsukushii Sekai) as Miyuki, Yumi Takada (Ayeka in Tenchi Muyo!, Hatsuho in Please Teacher!) as Miss Shikijo, Keiichi Noda (Tetsuya in Great Mazinger) as Slash, and Kazuhiro Nakata (Bear in .hack//SIGN) as Cmdr. Misato. Same English cast from Bang Zoom! Entertainment: Ellen Wilkinson (Belldandy in Ah! My Goddess: The Movie, Mizuho in Please Teacher!) as Mahoro, David Umansky (Keitaro in Love Hina, Lin in Cowboy Bebop) as Suguru, Willow Armstrong (Hikaru in Figure 17) as Minawa, David Lelyveld (Kei in Please Teacher!, Kaoru in Ai Yori Aoshi) as Kiyomi, Ron Allen (Beyond the Grave in Gungrave, Gato in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083) as Toshiya and Cmdr. Misato, Rebecca Forstadt (A Little Snow Fairy Sugar , Mihoshi in Tenchi Muyo!) as Chizuko, Dorothy Elias-Fahn (Naru in Love Hina, Meryl in Trigun) as Rin, Michelle Ruff (Chii in Chobits, Aoi in Ai Yori Aoshi) as Miyuki, Wendee Lee (Kiva in MEGAS XLR, B.C. in Vandread) as Miss Shikijo, and Lex Lang (Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey, Gineas in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team) as Slash. DVD Extras: A (Boxed Set), C+ (DVD Only) The DVD alone features an image gallery, a couple of promo trailers and a fold-out mini-poster. The boxed set fits all of the Mahoromatic DVDs and comes with a nice Mahoro figure. The Bottom Line Mahoromatic Summer Special is a disappointment to most viewers. Strictly rental material. Or better yet, buy the boxed set and sell the DVD. 11. Well, looks like someone's had too much time on their hands. Here's a re-edited scene of Osaka-san greeting Yukari-chan first thing in the morning. BTW, the dialogue is in Korean.
  12. Nice, but I've read horror stories about assembling Trumpeter kits.
  13. Here's some more fun with Milk-chan: Oh! Super Milk-chan @ Shockwave Japan (Japanese only)
  14. Transformers and Lego.
  15. In that case, I must have those.
  16. Interesting. The DVD menus on your copy are similar to mine. I did some further research on eBay and I found out that one bootleg has two different covers.
  17. Can we get some lineart posted to compare with the prototypes?
  18. Well, that's a close answer. In the Japanese version, the real currency has the face of "Kin" on it while the counterfeit currency has the face of "Gin" on it. In the U.S. version, the real one has Mary-Kate while the fake one has Ashley. Your turn, Daishi3500.
  19. Well, look who's on the official Minnesota Vikings website:
  20. Answer: Lasty's left eye is blue, while her right eye is brown. Next question: In The Super Milk-chan Show, how are Milk-chan and the gang supposed to determine the difference between real money and counterfeit money being circulated? (supply the answer for either the English or Japanese version.)
  21. According to Box Office Mojo, Shaolin Soccer only made $488,872 in the U.S., mainly because only 14 theaters carried it. Miramax completely screwed up on marketing this film. BTW, the R1 DVD is already out, but I'm not gonna bother purchasing it.
  22. For those interested in picking up the DVD, here's a short guide on the versions available online: Ong-Bak (Hong Kong Edition) Languages: Thai, Cantonese Subtitles: English, Chinese There are several bootleg versions of this DVD. I have one by Easy DVD, which has a rather dark picture quality. The English subtitles are very good, despite some spelling errors. Included are these bonus features: - Original Thai trailer & TV spot. - Chinese trailer. - Interviews with Tony Jaa and the director. - Outtakes. - Hong Kong promotional video, where Tony Jaa demonstrates his skills in front of a live audience. Ong Bak (Taiwan Bootleg Edition) Languages: Thai Subtitles: English I also have this copy at home. Unlike the HK version, this DVD has an English menu. It also appears to be a direct rip from the original Thai release, as it carries the same extras. The picture quality is much better than the one above. You might expect better subtitles, but there are problems. The subtitles don't mention names other than the main characters. The name of the village is referred to as Ong-Bak when it isn't. And there are some grammatical errors as well. In addition, Tony Jaa's kata moves are translated in English. While that's a plus for most viewers, many martial arts enthusiasts will want to know the actual Thai names of the techniques. As for the extras, here they are: - Fight Choreographic - Ong-Bak's Easter Eggs - Casting & Audition - Story Board Comparison - Demo Scenes - Alternate Ending - Deleted Scene - 3D Animatic Comparison Which one should you get? It all depends on what you want on the DVD. BTW, JRock, which version do you have?
  23. The August issue of Newtype USA has a one-page article on Gunbuster 2. The new Buster Machine is known as the DIX-NEUF.
  24. Okay, that was a hard one. London, England is reverted into the 19th century as depicted by H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World. Next question: In Tenbatsu Angel Rabbie, what colors are Lasty Farson's eyes?
