Wow...this is rather weird. After the ending credits on the Japanese version, there's a message announcing the live-action Street Fighter movie.

This weekend, I'll dust off my VHS copy of the Japanese LD and make a side-by-side comparison of the fight scene.

I know. I'll have a scan of it ready tomorrow morning.

Street Fighter II: The Movie ( ストリートファイターII ) CAPCOM/Group TAC/Sony Music Entertainment, 1994 IDT Entertainment/Manga Entertainment, 2006 Directed by Gisaburo Sugii (Night on the Galactic Railroad, Lupin III: Secret of the Twilight Gemini) Running Time: 99 minutes (English); 101 minutes (Japanese) Rated PG-13 graphic martial arts violence, nudity, mature situations and strong language. Nine years ago, Manga Entertainment, Sony Music Video and Renegade Video released the 1994 Street Fighter II anime movie on video. While it did sell pretty well, it pissed off a lot of anime fans due to a lot of changes made to the movie. First off, two versions were released: a PG-13 version an an Unrated version (intended for mature viewers). Unfortunately, the Unrated version, while still retaining the original cut's violence level, was missing a huge chunk of Chun-Li's shower scene. Not only that, many frames had to be panned or zoomed in an attempt to remove some Japanese text. As a result, the picture quality was heavily compromised. Second, the original soundtrack was replaced with a newer score featuring grunge and alternative music. While fans of Korn or KMFDM enjoyed the new soundtrack, everyone else put the movie on Mute. And third, the DVD release was below subpar, lacking everything - including a menu. After many years of protest from anime fans, Manga Entertainment has finally released Street Fighter II: The Movie the right way. Or have they? Side A: N/A It's still the same old English dubbed version, though it's being advertised as the UK edition with extra footage. As far as I know, I'm not touching the English version of this movie. Ever. Side B: A- The Japanese side has what everyone wants: a full, uncut feature film with the original soundtrack. Audio output can be played on 2.0 or 5.1 surround. DVD Extras: C+ Side A contains the UK trailer, while Side B has a "Player Cards" feature, which includes profiles of most of the characters. In addition, you get a mini-comic (published by Udon Comics). The Bottom Line With the uncut Japanese version now available, you can finally play Street Fighter II on full blast and be proud of it. For over 30 years, no band has mixed hard rock and theatricality the way KISS has. The band's first three albums - including Hotter Than Hell (late-1974) and Dressed to Kill (1975) - spawned old-school favorites like "Strutter," "Firehouse," "Deuce" and "Black Diamond." And though the albums were commercial failures, KISS generated a cult following that spread like wildfire enough for their first crack at the charts - the 1975 live album Alive. Legions of fans started snapping up KISS merchandise, from posters to action figures and even Halloween costumes. Destroyer further cemented KISS's legacy with runaway hits like "Detroit Rock City," "Shout It Out Loud" and the down-to-earth ballad "Beth." "Get up! Everybody's gonna move their feet, Get down! A year later, KISS released Dynasty, which became their fastest-selling album and spawned the disco-oriented smash "I Was Made For Loving You." The latter two were abusing drugs and alcohol to the point where they stopped recording with the rest of the band and were merely around for appearances. Eventually, KISS's golden era went in shambles with (Music From) The Elder (1981), an experimental album that was meant to be the soundtrack to a non-existent movie. By this time, Criss left the band, and Eric Carr stepped in as the new drummer. It wasn't until 1982's Creatures of the Night (which is, unfortunately, not covered in this compilation) that Carr's heavy drumming skills and a return to a raw, hard rock sound would usher in a new era for KISS (which will be covered on a future review). The disc ends with two tracks from the non-US compilation release Killers, which give a hint of what was to become KISS's music style in the '80s. "A world without heroes Is like a world without sun You can't look up to anyone Without heroes" - "A World Without Heroes" Gold is just one of numerous compilation albums by KISS; and at nearly three hours, it's the longest-running. Because of Disc 2's content, it's not the greatest among the bunch (for that, pick up The Very Best of KISS), but for those who want to learn about KISS's entire legacy in at least one sitting, this is a good place to start. Gold gives people a chance to sample everything other compilations missed out on. It's also available in a deluxe Sound + Vision pack that includes a DVD copy of the 1987 documentary video KISS Exposed. As long as rock 'n' roll is around, the music of KISS lives on. It seems that 2007 will be an interesting season for NASCAR. Montoya leaves F1, Toyota plays with the Big Three with their "Camry" stock car, and the Car of Tomorrow will play a key factor in at least seven races.

Haven't seen it yet. As a matter of fact, I'll rent the first movie before I see this one later this month.

Now that Guitar Hero's become one of the hottest games in the market, Do you think RedOctane should make a companion drum game (like Konami's Drummania)? If so, what songs would you like to see on the playlist?

About time Manga released SF2 in its entirety. That saves me the trouble of hunting down the original Japanese laserdisc or R2 DVD. Too bad their cover art sucks.

Actually, there are only three drivers who get booed whenever they win: Wonderpunk, Jimmie Johnson (mostly because Wonderpunk owns his car) and Kurt Busch (who just has a fundamental problem with everyone and everything around him). Kyle Busch hasn't won yet this year, but he's no better than his brother when it comes to losing his temper. Of course, no one booed Carl Edwards when he won four times last year. They were too busy watching him do backflips.

Well, there were rumors of Wonderpunk leaving NASCAR to pursue F1. I say let him go to F1. We'll see if he can hang with Schumacher or Alonso. Besides, NASCAR used to be exciting to watch before he showed up.

It's true that single-car teams have a very slim chance of winning, but at least you don't see the same two drivers win every month.
