The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
areaseven replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, I finally got my copy of Gunbuster on DVD. The good news is that it only cost me $39.00 (+$3.95 shipping/handling). The bad news is that the seller, digitaleyesdvd (a.k.a. DVD Planet), is severely incompetent. I ordered my DVD through eBay on May 10. As stated on their auction, they ship within 1-2 business days upon receiving payment. It took them over three weeks to ship my DVD! Anyway, I've gone through discs 1-2, and I must say that despite the controversial BGM swap on episode 1, watching Gunbuster on DVD brings me back to my college days when I first bought the series on VHS. The remastering brings out more vibrant colors and excellent sound. And even after watching the series hundreds of times, I noticed numerous background details on the DVD version I had never seen before. Now I'm off to watch disc 3. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, go buy it now. Just don't order it from DVD Planet... -
Unfortunately, the 1/72 gunpod is not compatible with the 1/60's hands. So I dusted off my 1/48 GU-11 gunpod and came up with these pics.

I don't know if one of the mods is trying to be funny, but if you guys have a problem with me reporting any issues with certain threads, what's wrong with simply sending me a PM? Slapping members with degrading custom titles is completely out-ethics - unless that member has committed a violation of the Rules & Regulations. And reporting a post is not, by any means, a violation. Now, please remove the custom title off my profile. Thanks.

EDIT: Never mind. Mods don't care, anyway.

Yeah, why didn't I think of that? I'll try it out on the next pictorial. Besides, I messed up on the Battroid transformation (notice the cockpit not inside the backpack). And I did the panel lines while it was in fighter mode; thus, I missed a few spots.

Your turn, lord_breetai.

And now for the Battroid pics:

Time's up. Since the 48-hour limit has passed, it's a free-for-all. So I got the next question: In the final chapter of Gunbuster's New Science Lesson, what does Noriko do while reciting the planets?

Time for some Gerwalk pics:

Shrek the Third ( シュレック3 ) PDI DreamWorks Animation, 2007 Directed by Chris Miller and Raman Hui Based upon characters created by William Steig and various fairytale authors Running Time: 92 minutes Rated PG for violence and mature situations. Cast Mike Myers as Shrek Eddie Murphy as Donkey Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots Rupert Everett as Prince Charming Justin Timberlake as Artie Julie Andrews as Queen Lillian Cheri Oteri as Sleeping Beauty Amy Poehler as Snow White Amy Sedaris as Cinderella Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel Eric Idle as Merlin Larry King as Doris the Ugly Stepsister Cody Cameron as Pinocchio/the Three Little Pigs Aaron Warner as the Big Bad Wolf Christopher Knights as the Three Blind Mice Conrad Vernon as the Gingerbread Man Ian McShane as Captain Hook Susan Blakeslee as the Evil Queen John Krasinski as Lancelot Regis Philbin as Mabel John Cleese as King Harold Synopsis All is well in the kingdom of Far Far Away, until King Harold falls ill and finally croaks (literally). Before his final breath, he tells Shrek that he is the next in line to be king. But when Shrek declines the offer, he is told that there is another - a boy named Arthur. Meanwhile, as Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots journey to the high school kingdom of Worcestershire to pick up Artie, Prince Charming persuades all the evil fairytale characters to attack Far Far Away and have a piece of their "happily ever after." Making matters more complicated is news of Fiona's pregnancy, which doesn't sit very well with Shrek. Story: C- Yes, the much-awaited sequel to Shrek and Shrek 2 has arrived. Amidst all the expectations, is Shrek the Third as good as the first two films? Sadly, no. It seems that Shrek the Third has suffered from the Third Movie Syndrome, which typically means that the third in a series of films is the weakest of the bunch. While it remains funny from beginning to end, all the jokes tend to wear out very quickly. The film itself feels too short and rushed. Another problem is the character interaction. We're supposed to believe that Arthur is the next king, but throughout the entire film, he's a complete wuss (not just because he's voiced by a complete wuss himself). And because the film uses characters from King Arthur's folklore, you'd be expecting him to wield Excalibur. Unfortunately, the fabled sword is nowhere to be found in this film. Probably one of the best moments in the film is when Merlin casts a spell to teleport Shrek, Donkey, Puss and Artie back to Far Far Away. The side effect is Donkey and Puss switching personalities. In one scene where our heroes are surrounded by Prince Charming's troops, Puss (in Donkey's body) attempts to do his cute staredown. As for the other princesses, they're not that interesting as supporting characters. Sleeping Beauty does what she does best: sleep. Snow White can summon all the forest animals to the tune of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song," but that's about it. And don't get me started with Rapunzel. Animation: A+ As with the first two films, Shrek the Third boasts amazing computer-generated animation. But although there's a lot more rendering and environments, it somehow doesn't look as detailed as Shrek 2. Soundtrack: A What's not to love about Harry Gregson-Williams' (Metal Gear Solid 2-3, Team America World Police) orchestral score? Aside from that, the film includes "Royal Pain" by Eels (opening theme), "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney & Wings (King Harold's funeral theme), and Donkey and Puss' cover of "Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Again)" (ending theme). The Bottom Line If you love Shrek, you wouldn't miss Shrek the Third in theatres. Otherwise, it's a rental. Thanks for the comments, guys. I waxed the dinner table a few months ago, and it looks like it's held its luster. On the side profile pics, I disabled the flash, which resulted in the mirror-like reflection. The overhead pics had the flash on, which muted the reflection (and a bunch of details on the YF-19) and showed more of the table. Of course, I should've disabled the flash on those pics, but I didn't have a tripod available. Tomorrow, I'll continue the pictorial with Gerwalk pics - this time, with a tripod and no flash.

Here are a few pics of my 1/60 YF-19. I used a Pilot G-2 05 mechanical pencil for the panel lines. Props to takatoys for the sticker sheet. I also have my old 1/72 for comparison.

Ugh! The graphics look great, but the new HUDs look out of place. And it doesn't look or feel as outlandish as the first two games.

I swear, aside from the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, this is the sexiest front-engine sports car from Europe. 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster 2007 Prodrive Aston Martin V8 Vantage 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24 2007 Aston Martin Racing Rally GT Top Gear - Jaguar XK vs. Aston Martin V8 Vantage (Japanese) Best Motoring - Aston Martin V8 Vantage (Japanese)

I'd like to see Try Force (Heat Guy J) do music for Macross. -
King of Fighters - Live-Action?!?
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's why you cast either Jun Kusanagi or Anna Ohura as Mai. -
Wow, what a ripoff. I got my bootleg Fire Valk for $9.00.

Where in the article does it say it's American-made?

King of Fighters - Live-Action?!?
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Like the article says, it's a Japan/US co-production. I doubt that the KOF movie will primarily be of Japanese influence, but since it's not as mainstream as SF or DOA, you'll never know until actual screenshots are released. And what exactly was Bison's line about his magnetic boots? It couldn't have been funnier than Zangief's line on changing the channel. -
Go for it, ly000001.

King of Fighters - Live-Action?!?
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No, there were better lines on that film: Ryu: "You're Edmond Honda, the sumo wrestling champ from Hawaii. You almost became Yokozuna." E. Honda: "That was until Bison ruined my reputation." Balrog: "Same with my boxing career." Ken: (looking at Chun-Li) "Let me guess...figure skating?" Guile: "It's the Collection Agency, Bison. Your ass is six months over due, and it's mine." Bison: "You have made me a very happy man." Guile: "And next, I'll make you a dead one." Cammy: "Cammy here, are you all right?" Guile: "I'm okay. I'm just half dead." Cammy: "And Bison?" Guile: "All dead." And this line sums up the entire movie: Zangief: "Quick! Change the channel!" -
Time's up. The commercial was a parody of Lipovitan, a popular energy drink in Japan. Next question, Jeopardy!-style: A genetically-enhanced human wakes up from his cryogenic sleep to once again engage in a bloody war.

King of Fighters - Live-Action?!?

Hopefully, it won't be worse than DOA: Dead or Alive. -
