  1. To no surprise, The Asylum made their own version of Battle of Los Angeles. Yes, it's The Asylum, but the upsides are Nia Peeples (who is still a hottie for her age) and no shaky-cam.
  2. Here's a surprise: Leader Class Bumblebee and Sentinel Prime are now available at specialty hobby shops in the Philippines. I went to my local hobby shop and the owner told me that they both came out first in Hong Kong. He had one on display, waiting to be custom painted. I tried my luck transforming it, and sad to say, this was the first time since ROTF Optimus Prime that I had to read the instruction manual for this. The reason being was that I didn't figure out how to properly fold the arms for car mode. While the transformation is impressive, there is a lot of dead space inside the front end, as the arms are crammed in the passenger compartments. And even though both figures are now available, I'll wait a couple of months, as stores are asking for Php 3,800 (roughly US$87) for each.
  3. Roger Ebert's review is hilarious. Roger Ebert's Rating: 1/2 out of 4 "Young men: If you attend this crap with friends who admire it, tactfully inform them they are idiots. Young women: If your date likes this movie, tell him you've been thinking it over, and you think you should consider spending some time apart." Aside from that, I thought it was an okay movie. Not as entertaining as ID4, but not a major disappointment, either.
  4. Gokaiger episode 5 has been postponed this week due to ongoing coverage of the recent tsunami and earthquakes in Japan. In the meantime, check out this awesome stop-motion film of the Gokaioh candy toy being assembled. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5Vq8LwN7mM

  9. For the Nerf fans in the Philippines, there is a massive sale on Nerf blasters: Up to 50% off on Dart Tag Strikefire (Php 800, was Php 1,499.75) and Furyfire (Php 1,500, was Php 2,999.75). Free Recon CS-6 (Php 1,199.75 value) with every purchase of a Vulcan EBF-25 (Php 2,999.75).
  10. Actually, none of the movie figures are truly in scale with each other. In reality, Jetfire and Starscream should be at least 3 times the size of Optimus Prime.
  11. I just got word that my friends in Japan are okay. Glad to hear that the MWers over there are safe. Still, my thoughts go out to those who were displaced or lost friends and family members yesterday.
  12. Those in the U.S. should check their local Walmarts, as there's an exclusive edition of the Barricade RV-10 with a yellow Raider stock now available.
  13. Peaugh's review of Leader Class Bumblebee is up. Good thing I skipped on buying the Battle Ops figure.
  14. "At least once"? You mean that whole racist comment back in 2002 wasn't the only time he was banned?
  15. Film producer Graham King (The Departed, Rango) announced his company GK Films has picked up the rights to do the reboot film. A New Lara Croft and Tomb Raider Reboot in the Works - Farewell, Angelina Jolie
  16. I was looking at a catalog of upcoming toys for Transformers: Dark of the Moon and saw that Hasbro will release a new Optimus Prime Nerf blaster. It's a 10-round pistol unit that looks like a modified Dart Tag Hyperfire with light and sound effects.
  17. Leader Class Ironhide - The combat knife in the lower leg is enough for me to buy it.
  18. The new Mustang Boss 302 has been tested, and its numbers make you forget about the Shelby GT500. 0-60: 4.0 sec 1/4 mile: 12.3 sec @ 115.8 mph 60-0 Braking: 108 ft Lateral Acceleration: 0.97 g

  20. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 4: "Friends to What End?" (何のための仲間) Special Guest: None Villain of the Week: Action Commander Zodomas Gokai Color of the Week: Blue Past Sentai of the Week: Juken Sentai Gekiranger (Power Rangers Jungle Fury) and Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (Power Rangers SPD) After being disgraced by Action Commander Zodomas in a sword battle, Joe disappears into a forest in hopes of improving his skills. Ahim then begins to question why he is a Gokaiger. For this episode, we learn that aside from being an Emo, Joe is a skilled swordsman. We also find out that Ahim has a thing for him. And for the Final Wave, Joe summons the powers of the Blue Rangers of Goseiger (Power Rangers Megaforce), Shinkenger (Power Rangers Samurai), Magiranger (Power Rangers Mystic Force), Hurricanger (Power Rangers Ninja Storm) and Gingaman (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy) to finish off this week's baddie. Unfortunately, this week's Gokaioh battle is a disappointment, as it is more of a squash match that relies too heavily on CG. Easter Eggs 1. When Joe and Luka leave a shopping center, the center's sign board shows nine different stores; many of them are references to past Super Sentai shows. For example, the upper right panel is SCRTC (Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger), while the center panel is Tomorrow Research (Mirai Sentai Timeranger). Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 5: "Judgment Pirates" (ジャッジメント・パイレーツ) It's the return of Dekaranger!
