One night, he loses to surgeon Tatsuya Shima and his black Porsche 911 Turbo known in the underground racing scene as the "Blackbird". The next day, while shopping for parts at a junkyard, Akio discovers an abandoned blue Fairlady Z S30 and makes it his own. It is later on discovered that the car is the "Devil Z", which was known years ago for its unbelievably high speeds. It was also notorious for an accident that killed its owner (also named Akio Asakura) two years ago, as well as scores of other accidents that caused other owners to abandon it. Despite the supposed curse it carries, Akio continues to fund the modifications and repairs to the Devil Z with two part-time jobs and races it to renew its rivalry with the Blackbird. Lowdown I know what you're thinking: another live-action movie that will screw over the original manga. We've all seen that before so many times. Especially in 2005, when Hong Kong adapted Initial D into the big screen. What a disaster it was. But in the case of Wangan Midnight, you'd be surprised. Unlike Initial D, the cast and crew here are all-Japanese. The main cast is practically spot-on with the original characters -right down to Ko-chan's red afro! And if you're not convinced, you can simply stare at the ultra-kawaii Ryoko Kobayashi or the smoking-hot Megumi Matsumoto. As for the story itself, it's very close to both the original manga and the anime adaptation. As for the cars themselves, I'm sure that a lot of hardcore manga fans will be doing tons of nitpicking. The Devil Z is pure classic Fairlady Z S30 (known in the West as the Datsun 240Z) and the Blackbird is an equally classic '80s Porsche 911 Turbo. However, the other cars are different. Akio's Fairlady Z Z31 (first-generation 300ZX) is replaced by a Z32 (second-generation 300ZX), while Reina's gray (white later in the manga and anime) Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 is substituted with a red R34. The soundtrack, meanwhile, is all over the place. Instead of the rave/trance music that the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune game fans are accustomed to, the movie has a mixed bag ranging from American alternative/emo to R&B to Eurobeat. The orchestral score, however, is a soothing contrast to some of the intense racing scenes. That's the whole irony of it. Anyway, as I've mentioned before, Banky trolled all over the old MW boards back in 2002. I completely assaulted him on his piss-poor grammar. He then resorted to calling me a "South East Asian Hick", which immediately got him banned. Not once did he apologize for that racist remark. A few years later, Banky posted on his blog that he was retaliating on a comment I made that he saw was racist. This was my comment that he had taken out of context: What an idiot. Picked up a carrying case for my Stampede ECS a couple of weeks ago. Some of you may recognize it as one for Airsoft rifles. I was told at the hobby shop that this bag can hold up to two Airsoft rifles and one pistol. But as Nerf blasters are bulkier, that's a different story. The left pocket, normally used for Airsoft pistols, easily fits the N-Strike scope and targeting light. The right pocket is good for two refill packs of Streamlines. The middle pocket is for the bipod grip and some spare D batteries. As the straps aren't long enough for the Stampede unit, the middle compartment is for the two spare magazines. The Stampede fits snugly in the rear compartment, along with one 18-dart mag and a 6-dart mag. Having backpack straps also helps. As you can see, it fits everything except the shield, which I don't use anyway. Not bad for roughly US$20.

On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 6: "The Most Important Thing" (一番大事なもの) Legend of the Week: None Villain of the Week: Action Commander Nanonanoda Gokai Color of the Week: Yellow Past Sentai of the Week: JAKQ Dengekitai (Way too old for Power Rangers fans to know) As a means of feeding her lust for jewelry, Luka works as a maid for a wealthy tycoon, hoping to score a major heist. At his mansion, she discovers his most-prized possession: A small tree that bears gold instead of fruits. It doesn't take long for Luka to know that the Zangyack want their hands on it. In addition, she notices an emotional rift between the tycoon and his daughter. Luka-chan in a maid outfit. I think that sums it up. :wub: But seriously, aside from majority of the episode being a comedy, you get to know a little bit about Luka-chan's unglamorous past. At the same time, we see a change of character in her, as she briefly drops the pirate stint and teaches both the tycoon and daughter the real value of family. For this episode, Luka-chan transforms into the past Yellow Rangers of SunVulcan (another oldie the Power Rangers fans wouldn't know), Boukenger (Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive), GoGo Five (Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) and Carranger (Power Rangers Turbo). Meanwhile, the other four go completely retro with the JAKQ keys. Of course, at the cost of having a comedic episode, we have quite possibly the weakest monster of the week in Super Sentai history. Easter Eggs 1. Nanonanoda makes two references to Super Sentai songs. When Gokai Yellow changes to Vul Panther, Nanonanoda says, "Ichi tasu ni tasu..." ("One plus two plus..."), to which Gokai Yellow yells, "Sun Vulcan!" This is in reference to the second ending theme of Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. 2. The second reference is when the Gokaigers as J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai execute the J.A.K.Q. Hurricane on him. He yells, "Spade, Diamond, Heart, Club, hey hey hey!", which is the first line of the J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai opening theme. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 7: "Niki-niki! Kenpo Lesson" (ニキニキ！拳法修行) The next clue to the treasure leads to Gekiranger.

Not exactly late-breaking news, but weeks before the series premiered, scans from Bandai's catalog revealed this year's sixth ranger as Gokai Silver. His main weapon is the Gokai Spear, which has three modes: spear, gun and anchor. Unlike the main five, Gokai Silver's Mobirates phone is a slider type (as opposed to the standard clam-shell type), wherein he changes by placing an unfolded Ranger Key inside the phone's windowed compartment. Unfortunately, this gets Marvelous arrested by Doggie Kruger and Jasmine of the SPD, as the police have been notified of the Gokaigers' galactic bounty. During their confrontation, Marvelous and Doggie encounter Triggar Seijin Buramudo of the Zangyack Empire, who plots to launch subterranean missiles and destroy several cities on Earth. This episode already had me with Jasmine-chan's return appearance. Aside from that, this is the series' best episode yet, especially with some of the original cast of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger - the best Super Sentai series of the 2000s. The use of Ranger Keys for Go-onger and Dairanger (season 2 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers) adds to the exciting fight scenes - from the race car sounds of Go-onger to Luka-chan using Qilin Ranger's drunken style kung-fu. It's been said time and time again that there is no honor among pirates, but Marvelous proves everyone wrong by teaming up with Doggie in fighting the Zangyack. But perhaps the most defining moment in the episode is the use of the Dekaranger Keys. The epic Dekaranger theme is back, and DekaGokaioh is just tons of awesome. The giant robot fight is undoubtedly the best in Super Sentai history. Easter Eggs 1. There is much debate on Gokai Yellow as Go-on Yellow using her tire cuffs on a Gormin, as they were used as weapons in Power Rangers RPM, not Engine Sentai Go-onger.
