  1. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 10: "Card Game" (トランプ勝負) Legend of the Week: None Villain of the Week: Action Commander Yokubareed Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Sentai of the Week: J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai (too old for Power Rangers fans to know) and GoGo Sentai Boukenger (Power Rangers Operation Overdrive) The Gokaigers battle an invading Zangyack fleet led by a green ship, which Joe identifies as a "Special Destruction Unit". As a ship contains a rare mineral capable of destroying planets, Joe and Luka infiltrate the ship to acquire it, only to find themselves being challenged to a game of poker. Yes, it's mostly another filler episode, but we learn a few things: Luka-chan is an expert in cheating, Joe has the luck of Bret Maverick, and Captain Marvelous simply sucks at cards. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 11: "The Serious Rebellion" (真剣大騒動) Princess Shinken Red wants the Shinkenger keys. And look out for the appearances of Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Gingaman (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy) and Dynaman (too old-school for Power Rangers fans to know).
  2. New Dual Model Kit Images - Hopefully, these won't fall apart like the 2007 Trans-Scanning figures.
  3. Trouble brewing backstage in TNA Wrestling. TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter to Step Down from Company Amid Controversy? Sexual harassment and non-payment of medical bills are nothing new in the wrestling industry, but this is TNA we're talking about. If it were WWE, Vinnie Mac would simply whip out his checkbook and the case would be over in seconds. TNA, on the other hand, is just like WCW: a company running on borrowed money. Many of us already predicted this since day one, and we were right - TNA is going the way of WCW. It's only a matter of time before Vinnie Mac uses his lunch money to buy TNA...
  4. According to what I read online, the release of Vol. 2 was canceled, probably because Vol. 1 didn't sell well. However, you can download all 65 episodes on iTunes.
  5. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors DIC Entertainment, 1985 Shout! Factory, 2008 Created by Jean Chalopin (founder of DIC) and J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future) Running Time: 22 minutes per episode Rated TV-G. Enjoy the show. Thundering across the stars to save the universe from the Monster Minds. Jayce searches for his father to unite the Magic Root and lead his Lightning League to victory over the changing form of Saw Boss. Wheeled Warriors explode into battle. Lightning strikes! Cast Darrin Baker as Jayce Charles Jolliffe as Gillian Len Carlson (1937-2006) (Ganon in The Legend of Zelda, Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man) as Herc Stormsailor Valerie Politis as Flora Luba Goy as Oon Guilio Kukurugya as Saw Boss Dan Hennessey (Chief Quimby in Inspector Gadget, Brave Heart Lion in Care Bears) as Audric Ernie Anderson (1923-1997) (famous '80s voiceover) as the Narrator "Ring of Light, Magic Might!" Audric, a renowned scientist, does experiments with plants to find a cure to galactic hunger. But when a solar flare hits his laboratory, the plants mutate into evil creatures known as the Monster Minds - led by the maniacal Saw Boss. As the Monster Minds conquer most of the galaxy, Jayce is given one-half of the Magic Root and leadership of the legendary Lightning League. Allied with the magician scientist Gillian, the squire robot Oon, the plant-human girl Flora and the intergalactic courier Herc Stormsailor, Jayce travels across the galaxy in search of his father to unite the Magic Root and eliminate the Monster Minds for good. Story: B+ I remember the good old days of coming back from school and watching this show on KTTV 11 before Thundercats. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors is what some people like to call "Star Wars on wheels." The series' title character has some Luke Skywalker in him, while Herc Stormsailor is clearly a Han Solo copy. And then there's the rather hokey premise of our heroes battling evil vegetable vehicles. Still, the characters are likeable and the storylines are involving. This show is everything Titan A.E. should've been, and more. Animation: B As with Thundercats, Centurions and many other popular '80s American cartoons, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors is Japanese animated. The quality on many episodes was state-of-the-art back in 1985, and it still holds its own today when compared with other '80s cartoons released on DVD. Soundtrack: A- Perhaps the strongest point of this series is the music. The orchestral score by Shuki Levy (Inspector Gadget, M.A.S.K.) and Haim Saban (Power Rangers, Macron 1) fits perfectly with the series, but the biggest selling points are the hair metal-oriented opening and ending themes. DVD Extras: C It's great that Shout! Factory has given this series a proper DVD release, after the cheap and disappointing Escape from the Garden of Evil single DVD by NCircle Entertainment. But while you have the first 33 episodes in one boxed set, there isn't much else included other than some screenplays and concept art. The Bottom Line Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors is an underrated series that remains one of DIC Entertainment's best titles. Now if only Mattel reissued the toys... Links Shout! 6. Admit it: This is truly one of The Oak's masterpieces.
  7. Remember the Toyota FT-86 Concept from a couple of years back? Here's the American version of that concept: the Scion FR-S.
  8. Wizartar is back, and he's telling people that the Strike Freedom is probably the most disappointing PG kit.
  9. Kaizoku Gattai DX Gokaioh (海賊合体 DXゴーカイオー) Bandai, 2011 Made in Thailand Contents Gokai Galleon Gokai Jet Gokai Trailer Gokai Racer Gokai Marine Gokaioh hat Gokai Ken sword (x2) Gokai Ho cannon "Kaizoku Gattai!" "Kansen! Gokaioh!" For every Super Sentai series, there's a DX (Deluxe) giant robot toy to go with it. This year is no exception, with Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger being represented by the Gokaioh. Standing at 12" in height, Gokaioh is among the tallest of the stand-alone DX robots. It is a combination of five vehicles: Gokai Galleon (main body), Gokai Jet (right arm), Gokai Trailer (left leg), Gokai Racer (left arm) and Gokai Marine (right leg). In the show, however, the latter four vehicles have only seen individual action once, while Gokai Galleon mainly serves as the Gokaigers' home. Each vehicle boasts excellent detail and a very glossy finish - though Gokai Galleon could use some silver and black highlights on the forward hull. Design-wise, they are spot-on to their TV appearance, but one must wonder how a blue box with small wings can pass for a jet or what a race car and trailer truck have to do with pirates. But that's just simple nitpicking, and Super Sentai robots are never meant to be taken seriously. Each vehicle has a panel that opens like a treasure chest, and the interior is skillfully detailed with panel lines. Transformation is a complete breeze, as it involves mainly opening and folding parts. The only exception is Gokai Trailer, as it's a parts-former due to its articulation in vehicle mode. Gokaioh's head has a red dome that clearly resembles a bandanna, but the hat really completes the Buccaneer look. In terms of poseability, the toy is at most a statue, with only the arms moving forward and back. Disappointing for people who are into Transformers and Gundam toys, but still an excellent display piece, nevertheless. For weapons, Gokaioh comes with two Gokai Ken swords that resemble a cross between a cutlass and a scimitar. The toy's main party piece is the giant wheel on the back. Turning it clockwise opens each panel in succession: left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, chest. Turning the wheel counter-clockwise opens all five panels simultaneously. Inside the chest is the Gokai Ho cannon, which is used for the Gokai Star Burst finishing attack. the chest panel, when opened, somewhat looks like a long plank; it is detachable to give Gokaioh a less-clunky look. "Let's Go! Gokai Star Burst!" What separates Gokaioh from other DX robots is its ability to take upgrades. As the series progresses, the Gokaigers encounter a past Ranger, acquiring power-ups on the Ranger Keys that represent that person's Super Sentai team. For the DX Gokaiger, there are Gokai Machine upgrades: Magi Dragon (Magiranger), Pat Striker (Dekaranger), Gao Lion (Gaoranger) and plenty more to come. Each panel of Gokaioh can store a component of the Gokai Machine to use as a special attack. I'll be covering this on my next review, once I get the Pat Striker. In short, if you want a poseable Gokaioh, get the Minipla kit and some paints. But if you want something to tower over your collection on your shelf, the DX Gokaioh is the perfect toy. 11. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 9: "The Lion, Runs" (獅子、走る) Legend of the Week: Noboru Kaneko as Kakeru Shishi Villain of the Week: Action Commander Bowser Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Sentai of the Week: Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger (Power Rangers Wild Force), Kousoku Sentai Turboranger (Power Rangers fans wouldn't know this) and Choujin Sentai Jetman (another one the Power Rangers fans wouldn't know) The Gokaigers discover the island in the sky, but so do Zangyack Empire, who dispatches Action Commander Bowser to dispose of the pirates. Their battle, however, angers the Gao Lion, which promptly kicks everyone out of the island. During the chaos, Gokai Pink is injured and her wounds are tended to by Kakeru Shishi, a local veterinarian and the former Gao Red. Finally, after a so-so filler episode, the series picks up with more action than ever. I haven't seen Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, but I was very impressed with the interaction between Kakeru Shishi and the Gokaigers. And after seeing pics of the DX toy, we finally see what Gao Lion is capable of when combined with Gokaioh. In addition, we're also treated to some old-school action with the suits of 1989's Kousoku Sentai Turboranger and 1991's Choujin Sentai Jetman. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 10: "Trump Match" (トランプ勝負) What is the Zangyack Empire's Green Fleet up to?
  12. Minipla Gokaiger Robo Series: Kaizoku Gattai Gokaioh (海賊合体ゴーカイオー) Bandai, 2011 Made in Japan Contents Box 1: Gokai Galleon Box 2: Gokai Jet Box 3: Gokai Trailer Box 4: Gokai Racer Box 5: Gokai Marine with Gokai Ho Ramune-flavored candy in each box Minipla - It's the Super Sentai Robot counterpart to Gunpla. The kits are fairly cheap and very easy to assemble. Plus, each box comes with a delicious ramune candy pill. The line is also a great alternative for Super Sentai fans who can't afford the big and expensive DX robot toys. Each box contains 1-2 runners of parts molded in a single color. Gokai Galleon and Gokai Trailer are molded in their correct colors of red and yellow, respectively. The other three Gokai Machines, however, are molded in black. In the case of Gokai Marine, it's not so much of a problem, as it looks better in black than the original white color. But for Gokai Jet and Gokai Racer, you will need to use paint no matter what, as the provided stickers don't do much to give the kit justice. Speaking of paint, that's exactly what I did with mine. There's still a lot more detailing to do, but I'm impressed with the end result. When combined, Gokaioh has an over 40 points of articulation, making it as poseable as a HGUC Gundam kit. Weapons consist of the two Gokai Ken swords and the chest-mounted Gokai Ho cannon. Each component has a front-opening compartment; in the case of the arms, each has two. Unlike its larger DX counterpart, this kit does not have the spring-loaded mechanism that's activated by the wheel on the back. Fortunately, each compartment has one or two hardpoints for the upcoming Gokai Machine add-ons such as Magiranger's Magi Dragon and Dekaranger's Pat Striker. Overall, Gokaioh blows away the Minipla Dekaranger Robo I built over seven years ago. I can't wait to get my DX Gokaioh to do a side-by-side comparison. Detail: B Features: B+ Articulation: A-
  13. More late-breaking news: According to JEFusion, Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger will follow Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger as the next Super Sentai to lend their powers to the Gokaigers. The Hurricanger Gokai Machine will be based on the Fuuraimaru. Also, some spoilers for the next few episodes: And an update on Gokai Silver: - Gokai Silver will be played by Jun Ikeda, who has appeared in a few J-Drama shows. - His mecha will be Gozyuzin, a robotic T-Rex that transforms into a robot and drill battleship. It is clearly an homage to the dinosaur mecha of Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger and Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger, as well as the V-Rex in Mirai Sentai Timeranger.
  14. Perhaps, but I always thought 2 Fast 2 Furious was non-canon, given that Paul Walker's position there (ex-cop turned fugitive) contradicts with that of Fast and Furious (ex-cop turned FBI agent, then fugitive). And given that both Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris are in this new one, there'd better be a lot of explaining to do. Because having Paul Walker go FBI after 2 Fast 2 Furious just wouldn't make sense, given the ending of that film.
  15. Gokai Machine #3 - Gaolion - for the DX Gokaioh will be released soon, but it has a very unusual twist. The Power Animal originally from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger will have light and sound effects, but when combined with Gokaioh, it forms Shinken Gokaioh (revealing the five kanji of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger).
  16. Talk about complete insanity. Built on a modified Lotus Exige platform, the 2011 Hennessey Venom GT is powered by a modified version of the Corvette ZR1's 6.2 liter LS9 V8. A single supercharged version makes 725 bhp, but a twin turbo will give you up to 1,200 bhp @ 6,500 RPM. Despite all that power and a hefty V8, the car weighs in at an impressively light 2,685 lbs. Hennessey claims a 0-60 acceleration time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 272 mph. 2011 Hennessey Venom GT

  18. Damn, that sucks. Best of luck to Edge on his retirement, and I hope Christian becomes the next World Champion.
  19. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 8: "Little Spy Tactics" (スパイ小作戦) Legends of the Week: None Villain of the Week: Action Commander Sneak Brothers Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Sentai of the Week: Denshi Sentai Denziman (too old for Power Rangers fans to know), Dai Sentai Goggle V (another old one the Power Rangers fans wouldn't know) and Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger (Power Rangers Wild Force) As Walz Gil grows more frustrated by the Gokaigers, Damaras and Insarn secretly assign the Sneak Brothers to spy on the pirates. Meanwhile, as the Gokaigers are having lunch, Navi is nowhere to be seen. Well, this episode was mostly just a filler, but it's still a load of laughs. And the Gokai Bat needs to be used more often. Also, the Gokaigers once again go retro with the electro punches of Denziman and the rhythmic gymnastics of Goggle V. Easter Eggs 1. Before the Gokaigers finish off the Sneak Brothers, Gokai Red says, "Stop the Battle." This is in reference to the ending theme of the 1982 series Dai Sentai Goggle-V. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 9: "The Lion, Runs" (獅子、走る) The Gokaigers bump into Gao Red on their search for an island in the sky.
  20. This should be the official theme song of the cartoon.
