  6. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 11: "The Serious Rebellion" (真剣大騒動) Legends of the Week: Runa Natsui as Kaoru Shiba and Kazuyuki Matsuzawa as Toshizo Tanba Villain of the Week: Action Commander Delzeiger Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Sentai of the Week: Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Kagaku Sentai Dynaman (too old-school for Power Rangers fans) and Seijuu Sentai Gingaman (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy) The next clue to the Greatest Treasure in the Universe is a samurai, which results in a confrontation between the Gokaigers and Kaoru Shiba, who demands them to hand over the Shinkenger keys. But when the Zangyack launches yet another invasion, Joe is given an unexpected reunion from a former comrade. Despite not having the actual Shinken Red, this is what the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (Power Rangers Samurai) fans have been waiting for: a tribute episode to the highly acclaimed 2009 series (as it was named the #1 Super Sentai series of the Heisei Era). And this is what the Gokaiger fans expected: intense sword fights, major plot twists and a cliffhanger ending. Joe's past comes back to haunt him, and it costs the Gokaigers big-time. In addition, we're treated to some old-school action with the suits of Zyuranger, Dynaman and Gingaman. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 12: "The Guaranteed Showy Samurai" (極付派手侍) Joe goes out alone to face Barizorg and make him remember the past. Kaoru forms an unlikely alliance with the Gokaigers to eliminate the Zangyack. And even more old-school Sentai action with Dairanger (season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Megaranger (Power Rangers in Space), Liveman (too '80s for Power Rangers fans) and Timeranger (Power Rangers Time Force).

  11. I got my Dark of the Moon Deluxe Bumblebee over a month ago. At first, I wanted to hate this figure, as I had perceived it as a severely dumbed-down version of the awesome Battle Blade Bumblebee from the 2010 Hunt for the Decepticons line. Out of the packaging, it lacks heavily in colors due to it having less parts than its predecessor. So I did what most others would - paint it. Upon grabbing my paints, brushes and screwdriver, I realized that this figure is easier to disassemble than last year's. Unlike the Battle Blade version, each leg on this one needs only three screws and does not use any annoying rivets (except on the wheels, of course). I put two coats of Mr. Color #33 Flat Black on the yellow parts (one coat on the gray parts) before topping them with a coat of Mr. Metal Color #214 Dark Iron. Once the Dark Iron dried, I took a toothbrush and polished the parts. As a result of the paint job, DOTM Bumblebee looks much better. There's still a lot more work to do on this figure, but here are some pics. Here's a comparison shot of the 2010 and 2011 Deluxe Bumblebee figures.
  12. And now for some news: S.H. Figuarts Gokai Red Following the success of the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger figures, Bandai announced that they will release Gokai Red in the S.H. Figuarts line later this year. AmiAmi has Gokai Red listed on their catalog. A fan-made custom S.H. Figuarts figure was previously posted online. All I have to say is this... Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle To no surprise, Aka Red has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming film. Also confirmed to appear are the following past heroes: Naoya Makoto as Tsuyoshi Kaijo/Akaranger (Himitsu Sentai Goranger) Hiroshi Miyauchi as Sokichi Banba/Big One (J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai) Kenji Ohba as Daigoro Oume/Denji Blue (Denshi Sentai Denziman) Junichi Haruta as Kanpei Kurota/Goggle Black (Dai Sentai Goggle-V) Sayoko Hagiwara as Rei Tachibana/Dyna Pink (Kagaku Sentai Dynaman) Ryosuke Sakamoto as Shiro Go (otherwise known as "Kenny" in the Philippine English dub)/Red One (Choudenshi Bioman) Kenta Sato as Riki Hono/Red Turbo (Kousoku Sentai Turboranger) Keiichi Wada as Ryou/Ryu Ranger (Gosei Sentai Dairanger) Mika Kikuchi as Koume "Umeko" Kodou/Deka Pink (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger) Also, Gokaioh will have a special power-up in the film. The Variblune from Goranger will attach to Gokaioh's back to form Goren Gokaioh. More info here.
  13. According to IGN, Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to the Terminator franchise in a new movie to be directed by Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious 3-5, Better Luck Tomorrow). Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures and Lionsgate Films are rumored to be in the running to produce and distribute the film. Arnold's Back as The Terminator
  14. That's the problem with EG/FG kits. They're the easiest to assemble, as they have less parts than HG kits. In the long run, they end up costing more due to the necessity to buy paints, brushes and thinners. In addition, some of the arms and legs are single-piece components, resulting in a very limited poseability. These kits are merely for people who want a Gunpla kit badly, but are too cheap to go HG.
  15. Apparently, the gates on each sprue are so thin that you don't need a pair of nippers (I use a nail cutter because I'm cheap ) to remove the parts. The separator supposedly makes sure you don't rip some plastic off the parts when you pull them out of the sprues. The gimmick was introduced in the 1/48 Mega Size RX-78-2 Gundam last year. But in all honesty, nothing beats a pair of nippers (or maybe a nail cutter) and a hobby knife.
  16. The all-new Volkswagen Beetle is less curvy and less feminine-looking (and, hopefully, less problematic) than its predecessor. Volkswagen claims that the new design is closer to the original Beetle than the 1998 incarnation. As always, it shares parts with the Golf. No more flower vase in the dashboard; instead, the Beetle has a more driver-oriented interior. The Turbo model uses the same 2.0 liter turbocharged inline-4 found in the GTI, which generates 197 bhp. 2012 Volkswagen Beetle
  17. Nope. There were plans to conclude the storyline with a theatrical release, but that was scrapped when the toys flopped in sales. According to Straczynski, the movie would have united Jayce's Lightning League with the original Lightning League. Jayce and Audric would reunite, but Audric would be killed by Saw Boss. In the final battle to save the galaxy, Jayce would unite the Magic Root and destroy Saw Boss and the Monster Minds forever.
  18. Judging by the box labels, the EG line appears to be export-only outside Japan. As you can see from the pics, they're no different from the FG and 1/144 no-grade kits. Also, they're made in China; hence the low price (roughly US$6).
  19. Most likely, as the price of Optimus Prime is astronomical (¥8,800, IIRC).
