  1. Unofficial box art has been revealed for the upcoming Nerf Vortex line. The blasters will be using new foam discs that have a longer range than darts. Nerf Vortex Box Art Revealed
  2. So what does Hal think of all the bad press?
  3. Escape to the Movies: Green Lantern - Probably the most harsh of all the reviews, the guy even compares it to Steel.
  4. I just got back from watching this movie, and I must say, it's pretty bad, but not as bad as the critics say it is. Ryan Reynolds somehow just doesn't work in his role as Hal Jordan. The special effects are astounding where they work, but unfortunately, the use of 3D kills the rest of the film. There are many instances where it looks like someone literally pasted Ryan Reynolds' face on a CG body. It's probably not noticeable on 2D, but man, what a horrible job. The pacing could improve a little and the plot is shallow and predictable. Hell, I didn't even know this was directed by Martin Campbell. He should've stayed with the James Bond film franchise instead. With all of that said, Green Lantern is a movie good enough to kill some free time. But that's about it.
  5. The problem with Power Rangers Samurai is that unlike majority of the past titles - which made their own stories while using stock footage, it makes a really bad attempt at being a faithful recreation of the source show. Practically word-for-word, an episode is a carbon copy of a Shinkenger episode - but with Americans and New Zealanders replacing the Japanese actors. Certain aspects of Shinkenger - which heavily reflect Japanese culture - just don't work in a western environment. Likewise, some changes made to the characters just ruin the whole thing altogether. As a matter of fact, why are these Power Rangers, well, Samurai in the first place? I could care less about how Saban will adapt Tensou Sentai Goseiger next year, as that show is pretty lame. I'm just afraid of how they will butcher Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger in 2013.
  6. Things are not looking good for this movie. Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 24% - "Noisy, overproduced, and thinly written, Green Lantern squanders an impressive budget and decades of comics mythology."
  7. It was announced that starting June 15, Saban Brands will offer their library of poorly-adapted tokusatsu titles on NetFlix Live Streaming. This includes all of the past Power Rangers titles, from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Power Rangers RPM. Also on the list are Big Bad Beetleborgs and VR Troopers. Fortunately, Saban's butchered Masked Rider series is not included. And here's a little publicity stunt Saban did recently to promote both the NetFlix deal and their current title, Power Rangers Samurai (which is a piss-poor adaptation of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger).
  8. Over the weekend, Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle made it to #2 in the Japanese box office. Despite failing to oust Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the film managed to rake in ¥288,610,400 (US$3.6 million) and beat X-Men: First Class, which debuted at #4. 199 Hero Grabs 2nd Spot in Japan Box Office
  9. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 17: "The Amazing Silver Man" (凄い銀色の男) Introducing: Junya Ikeda as Gai Ikari/Gokai Silver Legend of the Week: None Villain of the Week: Action Commander Arumadon Gokai Color of the Week: N/A Past Sentai of the Week: None Navi's latest prophecy is for the Gokaigers to look for a man in silver. What they get is a rather annoying Super Sentai fanboy who turns out to be Gokai Silver. Wow... this guy really knows how to make an entrance. The Gokaigers' sixth member has arrived, and if you're a fan of Genta Umemori/Shinken Gold of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, this guy's got just about the exact same personality - except he wears pink pants and is probably more annoying to talk to. His Gokai Cellular looks much cooler than the Mobirates, and his intro is just downright cheesy. Regardless of his campy nature, Gokai Silver's Final Wave attack, the Gokai Shooting Star, is a rather brutal move. I look forward to seeing how the regular crew handles him. Easter Eggs Gokai Silver's introduction makes references to the lyrics of the Himitsu Sentai Goranger theme song: red sun, blue sky, yellow dust storm, pink cheeks and green fields. Two weeks from today on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 18: "The Big Abare with the Dinosaur Robot Drill" (恐竜ロボットドリルで大アバレ) Gai reveals the secret to his Gokai Silver powers.
  10. The Barrel Break IX-2 is a Toys "R" Us exclusive. Have you checked all of the TRU branches in HK?
  11. Years ago, I had pondered on ordering this one German brand of synthetic sealant called Menzerna after seeing some results on Autogeek.com. Then I saw the price, which was a turn-off for me. Maybe if I have a more expensive car, I'll go pick up Menzerna; but in the meantime, I'll stick to NXT.
  12. Yes, the Barricade is as stealthy as a vacuum cleaner, but it gets the job done if you're gonna do a hit-and-run tactic - especially when dual-wielding. As for holsters, you can use DSLR camera holster bags - though they cost more than the Barricade,
  13. Good choice of blasters, Graham. Though I'm not sure why your Barricade jams. Perhaps you didn't insert the darts all the way in. Didn't realize how unstable the flip clip is. Most people would just duct tape two magazines together.
  14. I noticed something missing: where's the toy line for this movie?
  15. Jakks Pacific has decided to join the toy gun wars with their Max Force line. But unlike Nerf and Buzz Bee, these guns use paper-based ammo and their sniper gun boasts a maximum range of 100 feet.
  16. There's an ongoing legal dispute between EON Productions and the estate of Kevin McClory. Before the film series began, McClory and other writers collaborated with Ian Fleming on writing several drafts for possible film or TV adaptations of James Bond 007. One of these drafts was novelized by Fleming as Thunderball - without the other writers' permission or credit. Of course, this led to a long list of lawsuits. One case is that McClory supposedly created SPECTRE. As a result of the legal issues, SPECTRE was renamed "OCTOPUS" in the PS2 game adaptation of From Russia with Love.
  17. Since this is the resident 007 thread, here's a hilarious stop-motion parody of the James Bond 007 film franchise, featuring the voices of The Annoying Orange and a few other well-known YouTubers.
  18. On a side note, I like how the design of the Pentagon War Room is an homage to Dr. Strangelove.
  19. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 16: "Clash! Sentai vs. Sentai" (激突!戦隊VS戦隊) Legend of the Week: Tohru Furuya (Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen in Sailor Moon, Pegasus Seiya in Saint Seiya) as Aka Red (voice) Villain of the Week: Basco ta Jolokia Gokai Color of the Week: N/A Past Sentai of the Week: None Time is running out as Basco demands for Captain Marvelous to surrender the Ranger Keys and the Gokai Galleon in exchange for the lives of his shipmates. But the captain has other plans up his sleeve. Today's episode further explores Captain Marvelous' past and continues to prove that Basco is a total prick. Surprisingly, none of the Zangyack regulars are anywhere to be seen. Still, the outcome of the exchange is totally unexpected, and we're treated to more fights between the Gokaigers and the 10 extra Super Sentai warriors controlled by Basco. Yeah, we'll be seeing more of him throughout the series. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 17: "The Amazing Silver Man" (凄い銀色の男) Gokai Silver finally makes his debut, but will the Gokaigers accept him?
  20. Blame it on Square Enix, who bought all of Eidos Interactive's assets and put the Final Fantasy design teams behind the video.
  21. Okay, so this isn't the upcoming film reboot, but this new video game reboot by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics looks interesting.
