    Finally got to see the pilot episode. It's not bad, but like most of the recent remakes/reboots, the innovator has become the imitator. The show feels more like a derivative of The Vision of Escaflowne than the original Thundercats series. Sure, there are numerous elements that pay homage to the original - such as Lion-O's sword sequence and Mumm-Ra's speech - but nostalgia will only get you very far. Still, it's a much better effort than Voltron Farce.

    Kamen Rider Fourze (仮面ライダーフォーゼ) is the 13th Heisei-era Kamen Rider series and the 22nd overall. Its name signifies the 40th anniversary of the Kamen Rider franchise. In addition, the Fourze suit uses an astronaut motif to celebrate the 50th anniversary of manned space flight. The series will be directed by Koichi Sakamoto (veteran Power Rangers fight choreographer) with a screenplay by Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann) and creature designs by Kia Asamiya (Silent Möbius, Hades Project Zeorymer). The show's not yet out, but tokusatsu fans have lashed out against Fourze's suit design. On paper, it's probably the worst Kamen Rider design, but I'm not gonna fully judge it until the first episode airs. Kamen Rider Fourze premieres September 4 on TV Asahi, replacing Kamen Rider OOO. But before that, Fourze will make his debut this Saturday, August 6, in the movie Kamen Rider OOO Wonderful: The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals. In the meantime, check out the official site.     On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 23: "People's Lives Are the Future of the World" (人の命は地球の未来) Legend of the Week: Kayoko Shibata (Mariko in Ju-on) as Matsuri Tatsumi Villain of the Week: Basco ta Jolokia Gokai Colors of the Week: Yellow and Pink Past Sentai of the Week: Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive (Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) The latest clue to the treasure is to come in the aid of others. As the Gokaigers are out helping other people, Luka and Ahim meet EMT Matsuri Tatsumi - the former Go Pink from Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive. However, they once again lock horns with Basco - who is out to claim GoGoFive's greater power for himself. For this Legend tribute episode, the girls take the spotlight. We get to know a little more about Luka-chan and her dark past, and her struggle to make sure no one shares the same fate. If anything, it's more of a filler, but still a worthwhile episode for fans of Luka-chan and Ahim-chan. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 24: "Foolish Earthlings" (愚かな地球人) Jellacit from episode 14 is back.

    It's been revealed that Saban Brands has recently registered the name "Power Rider". Most likely, Saban will adapt Kamen Rider Decade, as that series features a Shinkenger (Power Rangers Samurai) crossover. And most of us remember the last time Saban adapted a Kamen Rider title...     Mill Creek Entertainment announced last week that they will be reissuing the first 32 episodes of Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors on February 14, 2012. In addition to the 3-disc set, Mill Creek will also release a single-disc "Best Of" compilation featuring 10 episodes.     Just came back from watching it in 3D and I must say it's about time Marvel gave Cap justice on the big screen. Not as good as Iron Man or X-Men: First Class, but it's up there among the best Marvel films.
