That's because it was very short-lived like the rest of The Comic Strip. Compared to Thundercats and SilverHawks, Tigersharks had a very shallow plot and characters that are just not memorable.

Minipla Gokaiger Robo Series: Kaizoku Gattai Gozyujin (海賊合体 豪獣神) Bandai, 2011 Made in Japan Contents Box 1: Parts Set A (Head & Upper Torso) Box 2: Parts Set B (Arms) Box 3: Parts Set C (Lower Torso & Legs) Ramune-flavored candy in each box Using the greater powers of the Timerangers (Power Rangers Time Force), Gokai Silver summons the Gozyu Drill from the year 3000. With the greater power of the Zyurangers (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Gozyu Drill transforms into the dinosaur mecha Gozyu Rex. And with the greater power of the Abarangers (Power Rangers Dino Thunder) in use, the mecha undergoes its final transformation: Gozyujin. The latest Minipla kit for Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger is here. Just like the DX toy, this kit is a parts-former, wherein different sets of arms need to be moved around during transformation. Out of the box, the snap-fit parts are molded in navy blue and light gray, with enough stickers to make the assembled kit much more presentable than the Gokaioh kit. Of course, it still helps to add a little paint to make it look just like the show version. While it lacks the DX toy's wind-up arm gimmick, the kit boasts more articulation and poseability. Gozyujin's drill arm spins like a drill should. The two halves can be opened for Trident Mode, revealing a spear (albeit a tad shorter than on the show) inside. The halves can also open further for Shield Mode, wherein the drill unit spins to deflect any incoming attack. As an added party piece, Gozyujin's arms can be swapped over to Gokaioh to form Gozyu Gokaioh. In terms of detail and accuracy, things get very tricky. Gozyujin's feet are too large in proportion to the whole robot body, Gozyu Drill is a tad too long, and Gozyu Rex suffers from anorexia. Despite these shortcomings, the Minipla Gozyujin is still a must-have for any Super Sentai fan. Detail: B- Features: B Articulation: B+

Kamen Rider Fourze (仮面ライダーフォーゼ) Ishimori Productions/TV Asahi/Toei Company, 2011 So, any bets on whether or not Saban or Adness will pick this up? Directed by Koichi Sakamoto (Power Rangers, Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior) Based on Kamen Rider originally created by Shotaro Ishinomori (Cyborg 009, Android Kikaider) Running Time: 25 minutes per episode Not Rated (suggested TV-PG). Contains martial arts violence. "UCHUU KITAAAAAAAAAA!!!!" Cast Sota Fukushi as Gentaro Kisaragi/Kamen Rider Fourze Ryuki Takahashi as Kengo Utahoshi Fumika Shimizu as Yuki Jojima Rikako Sakata  as Miu Kazashiro Maria Yoshikawa as Tamae Sakuma Arisa Fujisaki as Jun Shigeno Justin Tomimori as Shun Daimonji Shiho as Tomoko Nozama Shion Tsuchiya as JK Yuka Konan as Sarina Sonada Takushi Tanaka as Chuta Ohsugi Shingo Tsurumi as the Red-Eyed Man Synopsis Gentaro Kisaragi is a newly-transferred student at Amanogawa High School, hoping to make friends with everyone in class. But when mysterious monsters called the Zodiarts attack the school, he puts on the top-secret Fourze Driver and changes into Kamen Rider Fourze to battle them. Lowdown It's the 40th anniversary of Kamen Rider, and THIS is how to celebrate it?!? Apparently, Toei ran out of good ideas for a Kamen Rider anniversary show, but then got word that 2011 is the 50th anniversary of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's space flight. So the execs must have thought, "How about mixing Kamen Rider with an astronaut motif? It worked with James Bond 007 in Moonraker, right?" But it doesn't stop there. Another group of execs decided to throw in high school drama elements, as that's what teenagers all over Asia watch. The end result is Kamen Rider Fourze, a show that clearly has no idea what it is. Many of the Heisei-era Kamen Rider titles have been criticized by viewers (mostly the Showa-era purists) for casting emo losers as the protagonists. This one, however, goes in a different direction. Taking center stage is a dork who tries too hard to be a bigger dork just to get some attention. Just look at him - he dresses like the stereotypical delinquent student with the '50s hairdo, yet tries to be the nice guy at the same time. The high school itself is a mixed bag. Why would a Japanese high school try to look American, with its group of American football jocks and cheerleaders? As for the fights, it's considerably weak compared to the last 10 Kamen Rider titles. There's just absolutely nothing you haven't seen before in the action sequences here. I already mentioned that the Fourze Driver is the worst henshin belt ever, but after seeing the Fourze suit in action, I got really nauseous. The Astro Switch gimmick is simply one of the dumbest ideas in tokusatsu history. Who wants to be caught dead with a radar arm and a drill leg? It actually makes Kamen Rider Decade look good. But there is one reason to actually watch this show: hot Japanese chicks. If you've ever wondered what one would look like in a cheerleader outfit, you're in the right place. And the homeroom teacher is a real MILF. In short, Kamen Rider Fourze is in the running for worst Kamen Rider show. Hell, if not for the cheerleaders, I would've given this show an F. Be very grateful, Fourze. Who knows how many times Shotaro Ishinomori rolled over his grave? On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 28: "Wings Forever" (翼は永遠に) Legend of the Week: Toshihide Wakamatsu as Gai Yuki/Black Condor Villain of the Week: Bounty Hunter Kiaido Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Sentai of the Week: Choujin Sentai Jetman (the one Saban ignored for Power Rangers), Choudenshi Bioman (the one Saban almost brought out in the '80s) and Hikari Sentai Maskman (too '80s for Power Rangers fans) Intergalactic bounty hunter Kiaido is hired to deal with the Gokaigers. Kiaido's presence makes the fearless Captain Marvelous tremble, as they have once battled each other in the past. After the pirates are heavily defeated, they learn that Navi's latest treasure navigation leads them to the powers of the Jetmen. Their quest is further complicated when a man on a motorcycle attacks the Gokaigers and takes Joe and Captain Marvelous' Mobirates with him. Even more puzzling is that the man is not visible to Gai. After months of speculation, the issue of Gai Yuki's presence in Gokaiger has been answered in this episode. On the final episode of Choujin Sentai Jetman, Gai was stabbed by a mugger while on his way to his teammates' wedding. He managed to attend the ceremony, but died due to his stab wound. With no other original cast member available for this Jetman tribute, Toshihide Wakamatsu was brought in to reprise his role - but this time, as a ghost. Wakamatsu has practically not aged for the past 20 years, still displaying his cocky attitude that made Black Condor a Super Sentai legend. Toshiki Inoue (Iron Man anime, Devil May Cry: The Animated Series), one of Jetman's original writers, brings in Jetman's dark and somber atmosphere in this episode. Despite being a bit of a tear-jerker, it provides some excellent fight scenes between our heroes and the bad guy of the week. Plus, we also get to see some more old-school Super Sentai suits from the '80s: Bioman and Maskman. Easter Eggs 1. Gai Ikari sings the Jetman theme as he, Captain Marvelous and Ahim are out looking for the Jetmen. 2. A bottle of Macallan whiskey sits on Gai Yuki's tombstone. In Jetman, Macallan was Gai's signature drink. Other mementos on Gai's tombstone signify the other four Jetmen: A ramen cup (Ako Hayasaka/Blue Swallow), two bouquets of flowers (Ryu Tendo/Red Hawk and Kaori Tendo/White Swan) and a basket of fruits and vegetables (Raita Ooishi/Yellow Owl). Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 29: "The Abare Quick-Changing New Combination" (アバレ七変化で新合体) The full-blown Abaranger tribute.

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No. Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin in the Congo were never adapted in any form. The 1990s animated series made an entirely new story out of Tintin in America, removing the Native American subplot and a lot of the book's racial overtones while focusing only on Al Capone.- 39 replies

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, just about any children's media that's popular in Europe doesn't click in the U.S. Take Thomas and Friends, for example. It's a massively popular storybook and toy franchise all over Europe, Asia and Oceania, but it got derailed in America by some lame live-action film adaptation in 2000. In the case of Tintin, the comic's lack of popularity in America is partly due to the complex process of translating it from French to English (which included a lot of censoring). However, that will most likely change this Christmas due to Spielberg and Jackson, and all the public libraries will be flooded with requests for Tintin books.- 39 replies

Sintel Blender Foundation, 2010 Directed by Colin Levy Running Time: 15 minutes Not Rated (suggested PG-13). Contains graphic violence. Cast Halina Reijn as Sintel Synopsis A young female nomad named Sintel discovers a wounded baby dragon she names Scales and keeps it as her pet. But when an adult dragon takes away Scales, she embarks on a perilous journey to rescue her pet. Story: A- Despite its short running time, Sintel does a wonderful job weaving the tragic story of a girl and her dragon. Animation: A The 3D animation is not the most groundbreaking and some of it feels like a typical video game, but keep in mind that this short film was done on a €400,000 budget and rendered using the open source software Blender - not a multimillion dollar machine used by Pixar. Soundtrack: A The pseudo-orchestral score by Jan Morgenstern has shades of Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings) and James Horner (Avatar, Braveheart), and it really brings life to Sintel's action and landscape scenes. The Bottom Line Sintel may be a free download, but it beats a lot of the recent big-budget CG movies in terms of overall quality. Links Official Sintel Homepage References The Internet Movie Database
