There's a new N-Strike blaster out in the U.S. market, and it's slightly smaller than the Secret Strike AS-1. It's the Jolt EX-1.

S.H. Figuarts Gokai Red (ゴーカイレッド) Bandai, 2011 Made in China Contents Gokai Red figure Crossed arms attachment Extra hands (x 9) Henshin Cell Phone Mobirates Gokai Red Ranger Key (open) Gokai Red Ranger Key (closed) Gokai Gun Gokai Sabre Gokai Cylinder with Ranger Key for Gokai Gun Gokai Cylinder with Ranger Key for Gokai Sabre S.H. Figuarts is Bandai's answer to the ultra-articulated figure market dominated by Kaiyodo's Revoltech and Max Factory's Figma. But unlike those two other brands, S.H.F. focuses more on tokusatsu than anime characters; hence a vast majority of their catalog being populated by Kamen Rider characters. This year, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger becomes only the second Super Sentai series to get the S.H.F. treatment (after Samurai Sentai Shinkenger). Gokai Red has never looked more badass than with this figure. Like every other S.H.F. figure, he is loaded with crazy articulation. He has at least 33 points of articulation, including double-joints on the neck, elbows and knees as well as the wrists having both swivel and ball joints. With all of the supplied hands and accessories, you can have him in any pose or recreate all of his daredevil antics from the TV series. The downside is extreme looseness on the joints. Normally, I like to demonstrate a figure's articulation by having it in a standing kick pose. Unfortunately, Gokai Red can't do that pose due to his ankle joint being wobbly. In such cases, one must have the Tamashii Stage.04 for Humanoid display stand because not only is it a plus for S.H.F. figures, it's a necessity. Also, I'm very cautious about the figure's durability when it comes to swapping different parts. I've only attached the crossed arms twice, and already the normal right arm is having difficulty snapping into the shoulder joint. And I'm not gonna bother swapping the Gokai Cylinders anymore after doing it with the Gokai Gun just once, as the one on the Gokai Sabre is tightly locked in place. In terms of detail, Gokai Red is more or less of the same level as the average Kamen Rider figure - there are some details that work and others that don't. The head is painted in a nice, glossy red, while the rest of the body is in a matte finish. That would be nice if only the crossed arms were painted in the same shade of red as the coat. The weapons are exquisitely detailed as if they were literally shrunken from the actual TV props. Of course, the Ranger Key is a tad out of proportion, but any smaller would require a pair of tweezers to hold. And for those who pre-ordered the figure, they get the bonus Gokai Darin, the ship's wheel used to control the Gokai Galleon. The set comes in three pieces: the base, wheel and a pedestal. As with all S.H.F. accessories, the Gokai Darin is a faithful replica of the TV prop. There is a hole to insert a Ranger Key; unfortunately, the wheel does not have the "Let's Go!" sign as seen in the series. Overall, despite its flaws, Gokai Red is an excellent addition to anyone collecting the S.H. Figuarts line, and a must for all Super Sentai fans. Detail: B+ Features: A- Articulation: A

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time

Long before Power Rangers, there was Dynaman. In 1987, USA Network picked up the rights to a few episodes of the 1983 Super Sentai series Kagaku Sentai Dynaman (科学戦隊ダイナマン); but rather than broadcast a direct translation of the series, they replaced the original soundtrack with a dub parody. All of the characters were dubbed with fake Japanese accents except Dyna Yellow, who was a cowboy. The villains were rewritten to be an organization of evil film executives. The soundtrack was predominantly '80s top-40 hits by the likes of Huey Lewis & the News, ZZ Top, Bon Jovi and Morris Day & The Time. So how bad was Dynaman? It's just so hilariously bad, it's good. One of the great guilty pleasures of the '80s. Here's episode 1. WARNING: Bad audio quality.

Yeah, nothing can ever beat Small Wonder.

I think what he meant was that it had that '80s action movie feel.

FremantleMedia announced they will produce a TV series based on Universal Soldier. Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis) has been mentioned as the series writer. Universal Soldier Is Going to Be a TV Show

This makes more sense than the Blu-ray edition.

To be exact, did they ever release any Shadow Chronicles toys that didn't disintegrate out of the box?

On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 32: "One Power" (力を一つに) Legend of the Week: None Villain of the Week: Action Commander Shieldon Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Sentai of the Week: J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai (too '70s for Power Rangers fans), Kagaku Sentai Dynaman (which was once dubbed by USA Network's Night Flight), Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers), Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger (Power Rangers Jungle Fury), Dengeki Sentai Changeman and Hikari Sentai Maskman (both too '80s for Power Rangers fans) After suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Basco, the Gokaigers train harder to step up their game while Doc burns the midnight oil to create a new weapon. But when loses his hopes of building the ultimate weapon, he builds up his confidence by helping a teenager fulfill his dream of playing soccer. Well, we don't get to see Basco again for a while, so instead, we're left with a filler episode that focuses on Doc and promotes the latest Gokaiger toy: the Gokai Galleon Buster. Aside from that and the most number of Gokai Changes, everything else won't be remembered much. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 33: "It's a Hero!" (ヒーローだァァッ!!) An Action Commander eats Gai's Gokai Cellular for lunch, and the former Ryu Ranger of Gosei Sentai Dairanger appears to rebuild his confidence.
