  1. I still have my PCC Grimstone. Not a fan of the PCC line itself, but Grimstone isn't too bad.
  2. Joe Simon (1913-2012) - Thanks for the memories, Joe.
  3. I watched this band perform live in Seattle back in 2008 and posted some pics of their show on the old Music thread. Their new album is undoubtedly my favorite CD this year. Nightwish
  4. WTF is Akane doing practicing kendo? The thing about her is that she doesn't need weapons to beat the crap out of anyone - especially Ranma.
  5. Katy Perry Tour Contract Rider Remember folks, be sure to have a bouquet of carnations for Katy.
  6. Chevrolet revives an old name for their dragster concept. The 2011 COPO Camaro Concept is designed to meet the specifications of NHRA's Stock Eliminator drag racing competition. Under the hood is either a naturally aspirated 7.0 liter V8 or a supercharged 5.3 liter V8. The car also has the option of either a five-speed manual, a three-speed automatic or a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Drag-spec means this model has its independent rear suspension replaced with a solid rear axle. The interior is stripped of the rear seat and sound deadening materials, and fitted with a pair of racing bucket seats, safety harnesses, a roll cage and Auto Meter performance gauges. No performance numbers or prices have been announced at the moment. 2011 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Concept
  7. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 42: "The Strongest Man in the Universe" (宇宙最強の男) Legend of the Week: None Villains of the Week: Chief of Staff Damaras and Basco ta Jolokia Gokai Color of the Week: None Past Super Sentai of the Week: Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger (Power Rangers Jungle Fury) and Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman (Power Rangers fans wouldn't know this one) The Gokaigers discover an old magazine that says Doc was once a legendary warrior who disappeared after slaying a planet-eating dragon. Doc has no recollection of that history, but clues in the magazine point to him as the real deal. Meanwhile, Damaras is released from imprisonment and given another chance to redeem himself for failing to protect Walz Gil. Last week, we learned about Ahim-chan's past; this time, we get to know a little more about Doc. This episode reveals that if Doc hadn't met the Gokaigers, the Gokai Galleon would've been a complete garbage boat. His attention to detail and cleanliness, as well as his expertise in cuisine, has kept the ship afloat ever since. Still, one must wonder why he's chump change on Zangyack's wanted list. But that's not the best part of this episode. We discover just how powerful Damaras is, as he is capable of bringing Basco to his knees without breaking a sweat. The Damaras/Basco double-team proves to be fatal, as Basco wipes out Joe, Luka-chan, Ahim-chan and Gai while the duo take Captain Marvelous with them to collect their "unlimited" bounty reward - leaving Doc alone and helpless. At least until the next episode. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 43: "The Legendary Hero" (伝説の勇者に) With Captain Marvelous captured and the others presumed dead, Doc must do what it takes to stop the Zangyack Empire from publicly executing the Captain.
  8. Did you survive through the whole ordeal?
  9. You're not gonna believe this - according to IGN, DOTM is one of 15 films considered for an Oscar nomination for Achievement in Visual Effects.
  10. Dan Gilvezan recently released his short autobiography on his G1 days as the voice of Bumblebee. Here's an NGSMOOV video promoting the book.
  11. Behold: the world's most expensive model car. This replica of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 by Robert Gülpen Engineering is made of solid gold, platinum and diamonds. It will be auctioned this month at a starting bid of US$5 million. In addition, the model will secure three entries to the Guinness Book of World Records: most expensive model car in the world, most secure showcase (made of bulletproof glass) and most precious Lamborghini logo ever made. Now which rapper is gonna make their bid? 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Model by Robert Gülpen Engineering
  12. Thank goodness for surplus stores. I managed to score a Longshot CS-6 for under US$25. This isn't even available at retail where I'm at.
  13. Super Robot Chogokin Dekaranger Robo (スーパーロボット超合金 デカレンジャーロボ) Bandai, 2011 Made in China Contents Dekaranger Robo figure Extra hands (x7) Signal Cannon Judgment Sword Judgment Sword hilt Gyro Wapper handcuffs Signal Cannon effect part Gokai Machine PatStriker Deka Gokaioh arm attachment plates (x4) Deka Gokaioh gun handles (x2) The third Super Sentai robot to receive the Super Robot Chogokin treatment, Dekaranger Robo is the main mecha in the 2004 series Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (which was exploited by Haim Saban and Buena Vista Entertainment as Power Rangers S.P.D.). However, unlike the older DX toy and Minipla kit, as well as the recently released Joint Gattai toy, SRC Dekaranger Robo is a lot slimmer with more human-like proportions. The figure has over 30 points of articulation, which is considerably less than Gokaioh, but that's because Gokaioh has more parts. In terms of engineering, Dekaranger Robo is leaps and bounds ahead of Gokaioh and Shinkenoh. The range of mobility in the arms and legs is incredible, enabling the figure to do more dynamic poses than the other Super Sentai robot figures. Having a Tamashii Stage display stand (sold separately) will further enhance its display value. The figure comes with seven extra hands - including a left hand for the "Thumbs Up" pose. The supplied weapons are amazingly detailed, but are noticeably larger than they should be. As a result, the storage compartment in the right leg is useless in holding the Signal Cannon. The sign board on the left arm is stored on the shoulder by default, but can be mounted on the forearm for the judgment pose. And to top it all off, an effect part can be attached to the front of the Signal Cannon for the Justice Flasher finisher. Also included in the package is the Gokai Machine version of the PatStriker, which separates into different components to convert Gokaioh into Deka Gokaioh. The main body attaches to Gokaioh's chest. The front fenders attach to the gun handles for Deka Gokaioh to use as firearms. The quarter panels attach to Gokaioh's legs while separate plates attach to the forearms to complete Deka Gokaioh's Gokai Full Blast mode. Compared to the DX and Minipla versions, this is the best rendition of Deka Gokaioh, but that's already expected with the Super Robot Chogokin line. Pre-ordered units come with the Boost Effect parts that give the figure the illusion of moving fast. In short, Dekaranger Robo is one of the finest examples of how a diecast robot figure should be made. Even Power Rangers fans should pick this up, especially those who got burned by Bandai of America with their vastly inferior Retrofire S.P.D. Delta Squad Megazord figure. Detail: A+ Features: A Articulation: A+ Still not convinced? Here's peaugh's review of the figure:
