  1. Despite sputtering at #3 on its opening weekend, Ghost Protocol has claimed the top spot after moviegoers got burned by the Sherlock Holmes sequel. At the same time, the film has won numerous praise from critics, ranking at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Box Office Mojo Rotten Tomatoes
  2. Tintin may have been a box office success in Europe, but it has pretty much tanked in its U.S. premiere, debuting at #5 with US$9.7 million. Box Office Mojo
  3. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 44: "A Lovely Christmas Eve" (素敵な聖夜) Legend of the Week: Kenji Ohba (Uchuu Keiji Gavan, Daigoro/Denji Blue in Denshi Sentai Denjiman) as Shiro Akebono Villain of the Week: Imperial Guard Bibabu Gokai Color of the Week: Yellow Past Super Sentai of the Week: Battle Fever J (too '70s for Power Rangers fans) and Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers) Gai introduces the Gokaigers to Christmas, but while Luka learns more about the holiday, Imperial Guard Bibabu uses his wand to turn people and Gai into dolls. The Gokaigers must once again go into battle to turn Gai and everyone back to normal and save Christmas. What a fun episode! Luka-chan gets hotter every week and we get to see the Gokaigers go all-yellow for a change. And to compensate for the five main members changing into Battle Fever J, Gokai Silver combines the Gokai Red and Gokai Green Ranger Keys to form Gokai Christmas. Last, but not least, Shiro Akebono - the former Battle Kenya - appears throughout the episode dressed as Santa Claus before he secretly grants the Gokaigers the greater power of Battle Fever J. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 45: "A Confused Ninja" (慌てん坊忍者) Ninjaman from Ninja Sentai Kakuranger returns.
  4. Bandai also has Ryuseioh (Red Dragon Thunderzord in Warrior Mode) in the works, but no official pics have been released yet.
  5. I just hope that EA would at least include the original Syndicate game as a bonus in the new game.
  6. Vortex discs are no heavier than regular Nerf darts, but because they're hard plastic discs wrapped in solid foam rings and the manual blasters use a spring catapult mechanism, they do sting when you get hit.
  7. Remember the old Syndicate PC games from the mid-1990s? It was a series of isometric strategy games where you control cyborg agents to assassinate targets, steal top-secret items and destroy rival syndicates. Here's a sample video to jog your memory: After nearly two decades, EA Games will reboot the Syndicate game franchise on February 21, 2012 (February 24 in Europe) for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360; this time, as a first-person shooter. The new Syndicate has already sparked controversy with Australia refusing classification for it, citing excessive violence. Despite this, it will still be released uncut and uncensored in neighboring New Zealand. Official Site
  8. Power Rangers fans, rejoice! Daizyuzin - otherwise known as the first Megazord from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - will receive the Super Robot Chogokin treatment in mid-2012.
  9. Hell no. Team America: World Police is the Chuck Norris of puppet movies.
  10. Minipla Kaizoku Gattai Kanzen Gokaioh (海賊合体カンゼンゴーカイオー) Bandai, 2011 Made in Japan Contents Box 1: Engine Machalcon Set A (front end and small Gozyujin right arm) Box 2: Engine Machalcon Set B (Kanzen Gokaioh helmet, hand, mini Gokai Ken swords and small Gozyujin left arm) Box 3: Engine Machalcon Set C (rear end) Box 4: Gokai Galleon with Gokai Ho cannon Ramune-flavored candy in each box "Bari-bari ikuze!" Engine Machalcon, the delinquent son of Speedor and BearRV, is the greater power of the Go-ongers. Once summoned, he races into the battlefield and combines with Gokaioh to form Go-on Gokaioh. But when the odds are completely against them, the Gokaigers use their own greater power to release the Kanzen Soul, which combines Gokaioh, Gozyujin and Machalcon into the ultimate pirate robot: Kanzen Gokaioh. Let's face it: nobody wants to pay US$100 for a giant toy car that talks and does nothing to improve the articulation of the DX Gokaioh toy. This is where the Minipla version shines. As with all Minipla kits, this is very cheap and easy to assemble. And while the stickers make it look good, it helps a lot to use some white and black paint to detail it up. Of course, there's nothing special about an open-wheel race car, unless you introduce Gokaioh in the scene. As with the Gao Gokaioh setup, you remove Gokai Trailer and Gokai Marine from the equation and mount the robot on top of Machalcon. The result: quite possibly the most oddball Super Sentai mecha ever conceived. You have a legless robot on top of a race car - how much weirder can that get? No gimmicks appear in this mode, but in the series, Go-on Gokaioh can fly and execute the Gokai Go-on Grand Prix finisher. But this isn't the reason to pick up this kit. Take a legless Gokaioh, replace the arms with those of Gozyujin, disassemble Machalcon and refit the components onto Gokaioh and you have one badass giant robot. With Kanzen Gokaioh, you get smaller versions of the Gokai Ken swords that decorate the ginormous helmet. You also get shrunken Gozyujin arms molded in black; this is for people too cheap to collect all of the Minipla kits, but with such limited articulation and hollow backs, they get what they pay for. Once you fit in the regular Gozyujin arms, however, the kit really shines. The left arm holds Kanzen Gokaioh's extremely large hand, which, in the series, fires Kanzen Missiles from each finger. Its finishing move is the Gokai Kanzen Burst, which is its own version of the Rocket Punch. As with the DX version, Kanzen Gokaioh is a love-it or hate-it design. While I still prefer the regular Gokaioh, Kanzen Gokaioh still makes an awesome display piece. Detail: B+ Features: B+ Articulation: B
  11. On this week's episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 43: "The Legendary Hero" (伝説の勇者に) Legend of the Week: None Villains of the Week: Chief of Staff Damaras and Basco ta Jolokia Gokai Color of the Week: Green Past Super Sentai of the Week: None Captain Marvelous has been captured and a public execution is to be held for all of Earth to watch. With the other Gokaigers presumed dead, Doc must overcome his fears to save the Captain. What an unbelievable turn of events! Not only do we see Doc finally becoming a badass, we discover part of Basco's true motives, as he literally stabs Damaras in the back. Even more badass is all of the Gokaigers changing into different green warriors to battle Damaras before defeating him and eventually using all of the Gokai Machines alongside Kanzen Gokaioh to destroy him once and for all. Rest assured, Basco has something up his sleeve. And he needs the Gokaigers to survive as long as he wants to get what he wants. Next week on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Episode 44: "A Lovely Christmas Eve" (素敵な聖夜) Celebrating Christmas, Gokaiger-style!
  12. I can't think of anything, really, as I've already stocked up on my Nerf arsenal this weekend. Perhaps a 1-year supply of flavored liquids for my e-cigarette?
