  1. Pizza and nachos aren't enough. Be sure to stock on a #1 combo (which varies per theater, but is usually a tub of popcorn and a 32 oz. soda), some extra nacho cheese and a couple of boxes of Sour Patch Kids and Red Vines.
  2. Just this week at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, it's been revealed that next year's Power Rangers will be titled Power Rangers Megaforce, and it will use the suits from Tensou Sentai Goseiger. In addition, there appears to be a separate project to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise (no word on how Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger will be involved in this, though). Check out the poster below. Saban Booth @ Licensing Expo
  3. Oooh... look at the snazzy new henshin toy. It's the Morphin Blaster, used by Beet Buster and Stag Buster. The Morphin Blaster has voice-activated features that respond only to "Let's Morphin!" and "Come On!".
  4. Good news for Power Rangers fans: Due to popular demand, BlueFin USA will import the Super Robot Chogokin Daizyuzin into U.S. shores this October for US$60.99. Super Robot Daizyujin Comes to the U.S.
  5. Since it's Prometheus week, here's a question: which movie was worse - Alien³ or Alien Resurrection? Personally, I thought Alien³ was the worst of the bunch. Hicks and Newt got killed in the beginning for no good reason (other than the fact that the actress who originally played Newt is older now). Michael Biehn was so pissed that he demanded royalties for the use of his likeness in one scene and he got almost as much as his Aliens salary.
  6. Goddamn, what a great movie. Makes me forget that anything past Aliens exists.
  7. I can't wait to try this out when it hits stores. It runs on both Windows 8 and Android ICS. Asus Unveils All-in-One Transformer as Biggest Tablet
  8. This week, on Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters: Mission 15: "The Golden Warrior and the Silvery Buddy" (金の戦士と銀のバディ) Introducing: Hiroya Matsumoto (Tsubasa Ozu/Magi Yellow in Mahou Sentai Magiranger) as Masato Jin and Yuichi Nakamura (Alto in Macross Frontier, Graham in Mobile Suit Gundam 00) as Beet J. Stag/Stag Buster (voice) With Messiah continuing to lose his patience of not yet being able to initiate a full-scale invasion of Earth, Enter creates a Metaroid out of a vacuum cleaner to suck up Enetron from cars. The Go-Busters sortie to deal with the Vaglass threat as usual, but a gold-colored Go-Buster and his Buddyroid appear from out of nowhere. Furthermore, the mystery warrior reveals himself to be someone from Ryuji's past. "Boost Up for Buster!" "Come On!" After dropping this series over two months ago, I decided to check out this week's episode for the newest team member. Yes, it's still the same flat acting, redundant pacing and sad attempts at humor that kept me away since episode 6. I do have to admit that Masato and J are interesting characters (even more so than the main cast). Nothing like a cool, calculating genius warrior and the Buddyroid who always inadvertently upstages him. Since it's created from a vacuum cleaner, this week's Metaroid does what it does best: sucking. And that's what the production team is doing as well, as there's inconsistency in the damage done on the cars by the Vacuumroid during its rampage. Also, the fights seem to be lagging in choreography. Even the Gamma-type Megazord based on it doesn't do much effort to put up a fight against Go-Buster Oh, resulting in one of the dullest robot fights in Super Sentai history. So much for the "golden" debut. Well, it's off to watching Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger again.
  9. Definitely not picking this one up. Will just wait until a diecast version comes out.
  10. Finally: Episodes 5-6 of Shin Kenjuushi France Five:
  11. On this week's episode of Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger: Episode 9: "The Pain Sentai, Breaks Up." (痛戦隊、解散。) Introducing: Kazuki Yao (Ninjaman in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, Drake in Mahou Sentai Magiranger) as Doctor Z After discovering that her father was the co-creator of the Z-Cune Aoi anime and the source of all this delusional mess, Hiroyo confiscates the MMZ-01 units from the Akibarangers and declares them disbanded. However, that doesn't stop the true mastermind of the Stema Otsu Corporation from using them for his objective to invade Akihabara. After a rather dull episode 8, the series makes an exciting comeback with some rather unusual twists in the end. Akagi actually proves himself to be a worthy Super Sentai hero when he uses his own rage to power up his MMZ-01 and henshin in the real world. And we finally see Doctor Z, the true leader of the Stema Otsu Corporation who is also Hiroyo-chan's father. In addition, Doctor Z and ©Na-sama reveal Hiroyo-chan's dirty little secret as well. Next week, on Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger: Episode 10: "Non-Pain Inducing Curse of Z - Into a New Chapter" (非痛なるZの呪い ― そして新章へ) What brilliant scheme does Doctor Z have in store for our heroes? Good boys and girls shouldn't watch.
  12. Sukiyaki Western Django (スキヤキ・ウエスタン ジャンゴ) Toei Co. Ltd./TV Asahi/Geneon Entertainment/Sony Pictures Entertainment, 2007 First Look Pictures, 2009 Directed by Takashi Miike (13 Assassins, Ichi the Killer) Written by Masaru Nakamura (Andromedia, Young Thugs: Innocent Blood) Running Time: 121 minutes Rated R for graphic violence, sexual situations and profanity Cast Hideaki Ito (Takashi in The Princess Blade) as the Gunman Koichi Sato as Kiyomori a.k.a. "Henry" Yusuke Iseya (Casshern, Koyata in 13 Assassins) as Yoshitsune Kaori Momoi (Okasan in Memoirs of a Geisha) as Ruriko a.k.a. "Bloody Benten" Yoshino Kimura as Shizuka Ruka Uchida as Heihachi Teruyuki Kagawa as the Sheriff Masanobu Ando (Kiriyama in Battle Royale) as Yoichi Takaaki Ishibashi (Tanaka in Major League II) as Benkei Yutaka Matsushige (Yoshino in Ringu) as Toshio Toshiyuki Nishida (Tokugawa in Space Battleship Yamato) as Piripero Shun Oguri (Uchi in Gokusen, Minamoto in Densha Otoko) as Akira Renji Ishibashi (Renji in Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Eijiro Hikari in Kamen Rider Decade) as the Mayor Yoji Tanaka as Munemori Quentin Tarantino (as if nobody here knows him...) as Piringo Synopsis A lone gunman enters the town of Yuta in Nevata, which is overrun by the warring clans of the white-wearing Genji and the red-wearing Heike. There, he joins forces with an elderly woman named Ruriko to help rid the town of the two clans and secure the future of her daughter-in-law Shizuka and grandson Heihachi. Lowdown We've seen Samurai epics being adapted into Westerns in the past, but here's a very unusual twist: a Samurai/Western film with a Japanese cast speaking their lines in English! Yes, that sounds really absurd on paper, and it's actually worse on-screen, but that's the beauty of most of Takashi Miike's films - they're never meant to be taken seriously. Beyond all the blood and gunsmoke synonymous to Spaghetti Westerns, one cannot help but laugh at the cheesy one-liners spoken by actors who are speaking in English for the first time. Aside from this, there are obvious homages to the 1966 classic Django, such as the gatling gun inside the coffin (which is actually used by one of the villains), as well as story elements taken from the Akira Kurosawa epic Yojimbo (which most of us have seen as A Fistful of Dollars or Last Man Standing). Also, despite this title, there is no character named Django until the end of the film, hinting Sukiyaki Western Django as a prequel of sorts to the original Django. Quentin Tarantino, who is currently working on his own Spaghetti Western homage Django Unchained, makes a cameo appearance as a cowboy whose history is a big question mark. In the middle of the film, when he is told about his son Akira, he suddenly says he is an "anime otaku by heart". The soundtrack is a fusion of classic Spaghetti Western music with Japanese themes and some extra electric guitar riffs, featuring " " - a Japanese remake of the original Django theme by veteran enka singer Saburo Kitajima.Overall, Sukiyaki Western Django is not a bad movie, but by no means is it an excellent film. It's obviously flawed, but that's all on purpose. A great rental for Western fans who want a quick laugh. Rating: B References The Internet Movie Database
  13. It's amazing what all the money in the world can get you. This is the Ferrari SP12 EC, a one-off car built specifically for Eric Clapton. It's an homage to the Ferrari 512 BB, Clapton's favorite model. Now why can't Pininfarina and Ferrari make their regular cars look like this? 2012 Ferrari SP12 EC
  14. "Megazord Activated!" New pics of the upcoming Super Robot Chogokin Daizyuzin have surfaced on the web. Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger was a boring series and I hate Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but I have to admit that this figure looks sweet. I might actually buy it for my Super Sentai cabinet. Super Robot Chogokin Daizyuzin (スーパーロボット超合金 大獣神)
  15. I always knew Lexmark was crap, but damn. Meanwhile, I needed to print an A3 spreadsheet at work. Unfortunately, the HP printer capable of large prints in the office has no Windows 7 drivers online. I spent over an hour scouring through message boards, blogs, etc. to look for anything that would make the printer work with Windows 7. In the end, I copied the file and printed it through a co-worker's laptop running XP.
