  1. Goddamn, I never knew that Abraham Lincoln would be such a badass vampire hunter.
  2. Personally, I thought it was an insult to the whole Kamen Rider franchise. The outfit is the worst of all the Kamen Rider designs and the comedic premise really puts the show out of touch with hardcore fans. I grew up watching the original Kamen Rider series and Kamen Rider BLACK, and while I enjoyed Kamen Rider 555 and Kamen Rider W, I haven't seen the rest of the Heisei-era shows to fully judge them. On the other hand, I gave up on Fourze after the first three episodes. Sure, it may be a hit with the kids, but that's about it. Here's hoping that Wizard makes up for Fourze's mistakes.
  3. Sergio Pininfarina, one of the most influential designers in automotive history, died yesterday at the age of 85. His name is on nearly every Ferrari made since the 1960s, as well as many models of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati, Lancia and Peugeot. R.I.P. Sergio Pininfarina (1926-2012). Ferrari Designer Pininfarina Dies
  4. Kamen Rider Wizard (仮面ライダーウィザード) is the 14th Heisei-era Kamen Rider series and 23rd overall in the franchise. It premieres on September 2, one week after the disastrous Kamen Rider Fourze ends its run (thankfully). The motif of the series is magic, much like the 2005 Super Sentai series Mahou Sentai Magiranger (Power Rangers Mystic Force). Kamen Rider's henshin belt is called the Wizard Driver, which enables him to change into different elemental styles using special rings. After the piss-poor Fourze, I really dig the Wizard suit; the trenchcoat really adds flair to it. Kamen Rider Wizard will make his debut in the summer film Kamen Rider Fourze the Movie: Minna de Uchuu Kitaa! on August 4. Official Site
  5. It's a different story in the Philippines. The Avengers was sold out for two weeks during April and May. On the other hand, while movie theaters expected the same crowd for The Amazing Spider-Man, there are plenty of empty seats up for grabs. The country is a Marvel-heavy crowd, and in recent years, fans prefer Iron Man (and Hawkeye, more recently) over Spider-Man.
  6. I got dibs on Aina Sahalin or Christina MacKenzie if they're offered in the room package.
  7. You know what? I actually prefer Andrew Garfield over Toby Maguire as Spidey. This new movie has a more heroic feel to it, plus Garfield really plays out the comical side of Spidey, which was severely lacking in Maguire's version. And Emma Stone is hot, but you already knew that.
  8. Just this: Ryan Reynolds Confirmed as Highlander And this guy predicted it last year:
  9. Bandai has announced the release date of the S.H. Figuarts Machine Itashar, and buying it may require applying for a car loan. The figure stands at 35 cm. tall and will cost ¥ 36,750 (roughly US$ 460.41) when it's released on November 2012. S.H. Figuarts Machine Ittasher Revealed
  10. On the final episode of Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger: Final Episode: "Evaluation Meeting! If You Don't Hurt, That's Alright!" (反省会!痛くなければザッツオーライ!) The Akibarangers receive a letter from Saburo Hatte, telling them to watch the enclosed DVD and reflect on the past 12 episodes if they want a second season. Well, Akibaranger can't be a Super Sentai series without a recap episode, so here it is. Throughout this episode, the Akibarangers and Hiroyo-chan do commentary on the events that occurred in the series. Mitsuki-chan and Yumeria-chan discover the real difference between the two Shibuya Chief Clerks of the first two episodes, and Akagi realizes he was duped by a cosplayer parading as Deka Red in episode 2. Before and after the commercial "eyecatches", a narrator presents file segments on the Akibarangers' weapons and Inordinate Powers (because a Super Sentai show would be incomplete without a file segment). And Hiroyo-chan shows her talent by singing the Z-Cune Aoi theme song while the Akibarangers do a costume change. So it's a recap, but it's still enough to leave fans very happy, not to mention wanting a second season. Overall, Akibaranger has been more entertaining than both Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters and Kamen Rider Fourze this year. In the meantime, those in Japan should tune in to Animate.tv on July 6 for the premiere of Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger Official Web Radio (Temporary), a bi-weekly web radio show featuring the Akibarangers and some guests. Now to save up on those S.H. Figuarts Akibarangers and the DX MMZ-01 Moe Moe Z-Cune... オワリ The End
  11. Whenever there's talk of any Highlander sequel, I can't help but think of this...
  12. S.H. Figuarts Akiba Red is now available in Japan. (from left): Gokai Red, Akiba Red, Kamen Rider Fourze S.H. Figuarts Akiba Red
  13. Just finished watching this film, and I must say it's one of the best guilty pleasure movies ever made. Despite being a relatively low-budget movie, the special effects are amazing, as well as the set and costume designs. Aside from the Downfall parody, there are little things that pay homage to George Lucas and Dr. Strangelove. Superb acting from the cast - especially Stephanie Paul, whose portrayal of the U.S. President is as close to Sarah Palin as anyone can imagine.
  14. Here's a little warm-up for next month's movie night... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teGJHiA7jwg
  15. From Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane comes Ted, his first-ever motion picture, premiering on June 29. Ted stars Mark Wahlberg (like no one here knows who he is...), Mila Kunis (Meg in Family Guy, Mona Sax in Max Payne), Giovanni Ribisi (Parker in Avatar, Wade in Saving Private Ryan) and Jessica Barth (various voices in Family Guy), with Ted voiced by MacFarlane and narration done by Patrick Stewart (like anyone here doesn't know his name...). In the film, John Bennett's wish for his teddy bear to come to life comes true. Unfortunately, they've been living together for over 27 years, which severely affects John's relationship with his girlfriend Lori. In order for him to move on with his life, he tries to distance himself from Ted. Early reviews have been positive so far, with a 72% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 16. Presenting the thread dedicated to Bandai's high-end action figure lines: S.H. Figuarts S.H. Figuarts is Bandai's answer to Kaiyodo's Revoltech and Max Factory's Figma lines, with figures that boast extreme detail and poseability, coupled with a vast array of features and accessories. The line consists mainly of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai figures, but there are also figures for anime characters from Dragon Ball, One Piece, Tiger & Bunny and Doraemon, as well as Hollywood blockbusters like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
