Actually, I'm not even sure if Tesla and Clarkson see eye-to-eye anymore, especially after the controversial Tesla review that was supposedly "scripted" to have the car quickly run out of juice after a few laps.
-
Yeah, but we all know what Clarkson will say, other than "rubbish". Remember that he hates anything that does not run on gasoline.

Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As I've never missed a Bond film in cinemas since A View to a Kill, I will watch this tonight. And a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes really makes up for all the lost time between films. P.S.: While this is not the original video, it's a surprise that the producers didn't actually upload it on YouTube.- 251 replies

On this week's episode of Kamen Rider Wizard: Episode 9: "The Dragon's Cry" (ドラゴンの叫び) Down, but not out, Haruto is given a new ring to battle Phoenix and save Hiroki and his parents. But he is warned by his inner Phantom that further use of his new power will send him closer to despair. Isn't it a bit early to introduce a power-up? Nevertheless, we see some fine swordplay between Kamen Rider Wizard and Phoenix - especially with Wizard being able to create two Wizarswordguns using his Copy Magic Ring. And the Flame Dragon Style doesn't look bad; of course, the regular style looks better, but this form is majestic in its own right. Aside from this, we see just how ruthless Phoenix is as a villain. He goes on to inflict injury on both of Hiroki's parents as a means to send the kid to despair, but he doesn't stop there. He goes on to terrorize the hospital, but he gets his just desserts in the end - despite narrowly surviving Wizard's new finisher. Next week on Kamen Rider Wizard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1MD-7ehyfQ Episode 10: "National Security Agency Section Zero" (国家安全局0課) The mysterious government men in black abduct Wajima, while another kid is being forced into despair.

On this week's episode of Kamen Rider Wizard: Episode 8: "A New Magic Stone" (新たな魔宝石) After saving a kid named Hiroki from a Ghoul attack, Haruto discovers that Hiroki's mother is someone he knew from his past. Haruto and the gang have Hiroki sleep over at the antique shop, where Hiroki reveals his issues with his parents. Meanwhile, Wiseman devises a plan for Phoenix to bring Hiroki into despair and defeat Kamen Rider Wizard at the same time. We're at our third two-parter arc, and this is the darkest of them. Here, we see that Haruto was orphaned at a young age after his parents died in a car accident. We also get a very brief glimpse of Wiseman, the leader of the Phantoms. And finally, we see just how lethal Phoenix is as he battles Kamen Rider Wizard and sends him back to school. Next week on Kamen Rider Wizard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfLaMn6E4Ro&hd=1 Episode 9: "The Dragon's Cry" (ドラゴンの叫び) Haruto must unlock the potential of his inner Phantom to be a match against Phoenix.

According to this L.A. Times article, Jem was seen by 2.5 million viewers weekly and was the #3 animated series on syndication back in 1986-87. I'll admit to being one of those viewers, as I was waiting for the next episode of Transformers. As for the toys, they barely scratched the Barbie franchise. I do have to admit, though, that the Jem toy line was very innovative; for example, the playset had a built-in speaker that you can even use with your iPod. Barbie counterattacked with the Barbie and the Rockers line, but that flopped miserably. Hasbro scrapped the Jem toy line during season 2, meaning that the Stingers from season 3 never had dolls.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ah, f*ck it - might as well call this sci-fi, as it reminds me of The Room a lot. As a matter of fact, The Room seems like an American ripoff of Tagalog drama movies. Oh yeah, more than half of this trailer is in English. You've been warned...- 854 replies

Just came back from the theaters, and I must say that Looper is one of the finest dystopian sci-fi films ever produced. Never mind the fact that it mostly looks low-budget - the use of more practical effects and less CG give it the gritty feel of classic '70s and early '80s dystopian cinema. There's even a little bit of Akira on the side. Excellent performances by everyone, especially that kid who played Cid. Definitely on my Blu-ray wish list.

Well, Hasbro recently announced they're bringing Jem back to toy stores this Holiday season. That is, if anyone's willing to fork over $125 per doll. Truly outrageous. Truly truly truly outrageous. Integrity Toys' Official Jem Site Jem and the Holograms Are Back

Another classic Grimm tale gets the modern Hollywood treatment. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) and stars Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye in The Avengers, Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy) and Gemma Arterton (Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace, Princess Tamina in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) as the brother-sister duo who become witch-hunting bounty hunters after a traumatic experience in a gingerbread house fifteen years prior. The film also stars Famke Janssen (Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye, Jean Grey in X-Men 1-3) as the evil sorceress Muriel and Peter Stormare (Wolfgang in the Volkswagen GTI commercials, Meltdown in Transformers: Animated) as Sheriff Berringer. Other witches include stuntwomen Monique Ganderton (Alia in Smallville) and Zoë Bell (herself in Death Proof). So yeah, if you liked Van Helsing, then this is right up your alley. It hits theaters in 3D and IMAX on January 25, 2013. Official Site

Argo GK Films/Warner Bros. Pictures, 2012 Directed by Ben Affleck (Gone Baby Gone, The Town) Based on the true story published as The Master of Disguise by Tony Mendez and The Great Escape by Joshuah Bearman Running Time: 120 minutes Rated R for violence and profanity. Cast Ben Affleck (Daredevil, Gigli) as Tony Mendez Bryan Cranston (Walter White in Breaking Bad, Isamu in Macross Plus) as Jack O'Donnell Alan Arkin (Bill in Edward Scissorhands, Det. Hugo in Gattaca) as Lester Siegel John Goodman (Fred in The Flintstones, Pops in Speed Racer) as John Chambers Clea DuVall (Bashira in Ghosts of Mars, Jennifer in The Grudge) as Cora Lijek Christopher Denham as Mark Lijek Tate Donovan (Hercules in Kingdom Hearts) as Robert Anders Rory Cochrane (Charles in A Scanner Darkly) as Lee Schatz Scoot McNairy as Joseph Stafford Kerry Bishé (Lucy in Scrubs) as Kathy Stafford Kyle Chandler (Deputy Lamb in Super 8) as Hamilton Jordan Victor Garber (Thomas Andrews in Titanic) as Kenneth D. Taylor Synopsis During the 1979-1980 Iran hostage crisis, six Americans escape from the U.S. embassy before it is taken over by Islamist students and militants. They are given shelter at the Canadian embassy, but time is running out for them, as the Iranian government is close to locating their whereabouts. CIA operative Tony Mendez initiates an unusual rescue operation with the cooperation of the Canadian government, which involves sneaking into Iran and disguising the six Americans as a Canadian film crew for a phony science-fiction movie.Lowdown With all six Americans rescued and no casualties reported, the so-called "Canadian Caper" is a very unorthodox, but excellent example of how to conduct a rescue operation in a hostile environment. This film, based on the declassified CIA operation, captures the feel of the late-1970s from the gritty film texture to the '70s Warner Bros. logo to the deteriorated Hollywood sign (which was actually restored before the Iranian Revolution occurred). The music even features classic '70s rock from Van Halen and Led Zeppelin (plus Aerosmith, if you count the trailer). Only Ben Affleck himself sticks out like a sore thumb in the film, as he tries too hard to look like the '70s. He doesn't even look like the real Tony Mendez, for crying out loud. Despite that one flaw, Affleck does a wonderful job directing Argo, as he manages to build tension between all of the characters involved. We even get to see how politics are done in Hollywood, with excellent performances by Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman. One would find it hard to believe that someone actually funded casting production and advertising for a bogus movie. But in the end, the operation ended well as planned, unlike the failed Operation Eagle Claw. It's too bad the Argo movie was a complete fake. Still, it would've made a far better movie than Twilight. On this week's episode of Kamen Rider Wizard: Episode 7: "Buying Memories" (思い出を買うために) Special Guest: Wakana Matsumoto (Airi in Kamen Rider Den-O) as Manami Kawasaki The Phantom Gnome has escaped from his battle with Kamen Rider Wizard, but Manami has run off after everyone has discovered that she is a con artist. Gnome, however, is still intent on sending Manami into despair. This two-part story arc has been entertaining for the most part due to the excellent fight choreography. We learn that Manami-chan has been scamming people for money in order to save up and buy a house she used to live in during her childhood, especially after finding out that it's due for demolition. And so what does Gnome do? He simply sets the house on fire, but in the end, the plan backfires on him and Kamen Rider Wizard puts him out of his misery with a new Magic Ring and a twist (literally) to his Rider Kick. Next week on Kamen Rider Wizard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOMP4XUpjR8&hd=1 Episode 8: "A New Magic Stone" (新たな魔宝石) Phoenix is pissed, so now he comes out for Wizard's blood.
