Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Time Machine (2002) is yet another one that's on my "bad movie night" list. Even at 96 minutes, the film feels like it's 4 hours long with practically no point in its interpretation of H. G. Wells' classic novel. It does, however, make a good cure for insomnia.- 854 replies

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm still trying to figure out why some people think A.I.: Artificial Intelligence is a good movie. My main gripe with that movie is that it ended over 30 minutes ago Instead, we get dragged Because of this movie, I stopped watching Spielberg's movies for about seven years. Then I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and that further pissed me off. I didn't watch another Spielberg movie until The Adventures of Tintin.- 854 replies

Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've been doing a James Bond 007 mini-marathon over the past week, and so far, Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Thunderball, The Spy who Loved Me and Casino Royale remain among my top 10 in replay value. Diamonds Are Forever is not very memorable compared to Connery's other films, and The Man with the Golden Gun is just painful to watch nowadays. This weekend, I'll be looking back at the rest of the Bond series to see which ones have aged well and which ones haven't.- 251 replies

In 2009, Top Gear's James May rediscovered some toy lines he grew up with and introduced them to today's youths - in a big way. James May's Toy Stories ran for six episodes from October to December 2009, with a special episode on June 2011. Each episode focused on a specific toy line, with some history behind their creation before May made some very ambitious projects to get kids interested in them again. Here are a couple of examples: Episode 1: Airfix (27 October 2009) - To get some school children into model kit building, May has a full-sized replica of Airfix's Supermarine Spitfire kit molded for them to assemble and paint. Episode 4: Scalextric (17 November 2009) - May pays tribute to the old Brooklands speedway by constructing a Scalextric track on the grounds where it once stood.

On this week's episode of Kamen Rider Wizard: Episode 11: "A Promise to Defend" (守り抜く約束) Gargoyle retreats from his battle with Kamen Rider Wizard, but Medusa and Phoenix devise a new scheme for the Phantom to bring Naoki to despair. Meanwhile, Haruto suspects that Kizaki is keeping the truth about Naoki's father from the boy. Kizaki goes to show that unlike the typical government goon in a tokusatsu series, he does have the balls to fend off against an army of mooks, despite obviously being no match for them. Phoenix returns to action to once again kick Wizard's ass. In the end, Wizard gains Kizaki's trust and acquires a new Magic Stone. Next week on Kamen Rider Wizard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMmxG3H1aLU&hd=1 Episode 12: "The Wagashi of Hope" (希望の和菓子) Time to try out a new Magic Ring.

They didn't learn from the last one, did they? Coming to some U.S. theaters on November 30 is Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, the pseudo-sequel to the 2009 flop Universal Soldier: Regeneration. For this film, we see British martial arts actor Scott Adkins (Hector in The Expendables 2, Yuri Boyka in Undisputed 2-3) as the main protagonist John, who is out to avenge the slaying of his wife and daughter. All points lead to Luc Deveraux (played once again by Jean-Claude Van Damme) as the main culprit, as he and yet another clone of Andrew Scott (Dolph Lundgren, of course) lead an army of UniSols to liberate their kind from government rule. Just like A1 mentioned on another thread: "There has NEVER been a franchise that has been this fuked up. EVER." Official Site

Skyfall, the next James Bond 007 Film
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
We could probably drink over that all night, so here are my votes: 1. Eva Green as Vesper Lynd (Casino Royale) 2. Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder (Dr. No) 3. Bérénice Lim Marlohe as Séverine (Skyfall) 4. Barbara Bach as Maj. Anya Amasova/Agent XXX (The Spy who Loved Me) 5. Diana Rigg as Countess Teresa "Tracy" Di Vicenzo (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) 6. Carole Bouquet as Melina Havelock (For Your Eyes Only) 7. Daniela Bianchi as Tatiana Romanova (From Russia with Love) 8. Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp (GoldenEye) 9. Gemma Arterton as Strawberry Fields (Quantum of Solace) 10. Claudine Auger as Dominique "Domino" Derval (Thunderball)- 251 replies

EW also ranked the six Bonds, and this is very much a subject of major argument: 1. Sean Connery 2. Roger Moore 3. Timothy Dalton 4. Daniel Craig 5. Pierce Brosnan 6. George Lazenby Here's EW's 10 Gadgets to Die For: 1. Aston Martin DB5 (Goldfinger) 2. Walther PPK (practically the entire series) 3. Oddjob's Bowler Hat (Goldfinger) 4. Rosa Klebb's Dagger Shoe (From Russia with Love) 5. Jet Pack (Thunderball) 6. Omega Seamaster (GoldenEye) 7. Lotus Esprit (The Spy who Loved Me) 8. Wallis WA-116 Series 1 Gyroplane (You Only Live Twice) 9. Briefcase (From Russia with Love) 10. X-ray Glasses (The World Is Not Enough) And here's EW's 20 Bond Villains You Love to Hate. I'm not gonna bother listing this one, as Silva's not on it and Nick-Nack of The Man with the Golden Gun is.- 251 replies
