SDCC 2013 Hasbro Exclusives: Jetfire Skystriker

I don't cast movies unless they are desperate for a casting call, such as Robotech. After watching this film five times, I wasn't feeling that Mazinger Z vibe everyone else had mentioned (aside from the Gipsy Danger docking sequence being a Hover Pileder homage). And I still don't see any comparison with Evangelion at all. If anything, some of the fight scenes reminded me of this old anime:

Why did HG wait until Comic-Con was over to sue Hasbro when the toy was announced months earlier?- 158 replies

I once had a friend who was curious about Macross, so I told him to buy Macross Plus on DVD and stay away from RT: TSC. He did the exact opposite and bought TSC. Since I hadn't seen it yet, I borrowed it. From that point, I wanted to punch him in the face.

Yeah, this movie is full of nationality miscasts: A Brit playing an American pilot (Raleigh) A Mexican-American playing a Chinese-American (Tendo) An American playing a veteran Aussie pilot (Herc) A Brit playing an arrogant Aussie pilot (Chuck) Canadians playing Russian pilots (Aleksis and Sasha) But then again, it's Hollywood. What were you expecting?

Really? I thought Sword for Truth and Ninja Resurrection were worse in OVA endings.

I guess this means I'll hunt down the U.S. Blu-Ray release, as international releases will most likely have those scenes dubbed over.

Goddamn, that Dangaio figure is one bad mofo. That price, however, just makes it off-limits to most of us.

A new addition to my arsenal: N-Strike Elite Rapidstrike CS-18 - Technically, this blaster is not supposed to be in stores until this Fall, but the Philippine distributor of Hasbro products jumped the gun and put it on sale in early June before they realized they screwed up and pulled it off the shelves once word got out on Facebook. Well, I have to say that I'm very impressed by the Rapidstrike's performance, as it can unload an 18-dart clip in 7 seconds. Not as cool as the Stampede ECS, but still a badass Nerf blaster.

The only good performance Ryan Reynolds has done was in Ted. And he wasn't even credited in that film.- 24 replies

R.I.P.D. (Rest in Peace Department)
areaseven replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Ouch! Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 9% Metacritic Score: 14 "The worst comic book adaptation since Jonah Hex." - Roger Moore, McClatchy-Tribune News Service "For a movie that so strenuously rips off Ghostbusters and Men in Black, R.I.P.D. manages to come up with fresh new ways of being absolutely terrible. The plot manages to be fully predictable and freakishly bonkers at the same time, seemingly born of the same kind of brainstorming-on-L.S.D. session that must have given us Howard the Duck." - Kyle Smith, New York Post- 24 replies

The film is currently tracking at 62% on Rotten Tomatoes and 42 on Metacritic. At least we know it's better than the last Wolverine movie. -

I don't know about you guys, but the best performance in the film aside from Idris Elba and Ron Perlman was from Mana Ashida. She has a very promising acting career because of this film.

This report is actually almost a year old, but I'm glad Disney didn't go this direction. Who the hell wants to see a sparkling Condorman? Disney Is Remaking Condorman for Some Reason
