    RG kits have always been on my "to do" list since day one. Right now, one of my hobby shops has a bunch of them (RX-78-2, Zaku II, Char's Zaku II, Gundam Mk-II Titans, GP01, GP01Fb) on sale for roughly US$40 each. I'll pick up the RX-78-2 before Christmas and do a photo comparison with my other two versions (HG Ver. 30th and Entry Grade). I also had the 1990 HG RX-78-2 Gundam, which was my second Gundam kit ever. Unfortunately, it got lost over the years. Here's a video from 2Old4Toys showing that kit.

    Time for a blast from the past. In 1990, Bandai introduced the High Grade (HG) line to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Gundam model kits (known today as Gunpla). The lineup consisted of the first four main Gundams (RX-78-2 Gundam, RX-178 Gundam Mk-II, MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, and MSZ-010 Double Zeta Gundam) remolded using the latest plastic technology at the time. This Zeta Gundam was the very first Gundam kit I picked up back in 1993. It was a vast improvement over the first 1/144 Zeta released in 1985, incorporating polycaps, full transformation, and System Injection molding (where two colors were molded into one part). Unfortunately, the sculpt is inaccurate, as it's derived from the Zeta Plus C1 kit from 1987's Gundam Sentinel. It's also very fiddly to pose due to the sheer number of moving parts, and the head and torso need to be removed to transform it into Wave Rider mode. Still, it's an impressive kit, and I'm looking to spruce it up so it can fight another day. Hopefully, I'll pick up an RG Zeta this year to do a side-by-side comparison.

    Gene Wilder's version is disturbing in a wholesome way. Johnny Depp's version, on the other hand, is simply disturbing (which is the least of the remake's problems).

    WrestleMania XXX isn't until April, but two rumors around the PPV are already spreading on the Web: 1. Hulk Hogan. Just weeks after leaving TNA, he tweeted that he wants to go to WrestleMania. If he does, what role would he have? There's some speculation that the Hulkster may go one-on-one with John Cena, but his back can no longer take any in-ring abuse. Hogan has an electronic spinal cord stimulator surgically placed on his back, and once he does the leg drop, there goes his spine. Perhaps WWE will give him a hosting role like they did with The Rock at WrestleMania XXVII, which ended up being a dull event. 2. Sting. WrestleMania XXX will supposedly mark the first time ever that Sting enters a WWE ring. Adding more fuel to the rumor is the match itself, which will be against the Undertaker. Obviously, this sounds f'd up, as WWE would bring in Sting only to secure UT's undefeated WM streak.

    Sabotage is an upcoming action thriller film starring "The Oak" himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, Street Kings) and loosely based on Agatha Christie's 1939 novel And Then There Were None (try looking up its original title), the film also stars Sam Worthington (Jake in Avatar, Marcus in Terminator Salvation), Mireille Enos (Connie in World War Z), Joe Manganiello (Flash Thompson in Spider-Man 1 & 3), Terrence Howard (James Rhodes in Iron Man, Franklin in Prisoners), Josh Holloway (Sawyer in Lost), Olivia Williams (Moira MacTaggert in X-Men: The Last Stand), and Max Martini (Herc Hansen in Pacific Rim, Col. Henderson in Saving Private Ryan). Sabotage opens on April 11, 2014. Since it has Schwarzenegger, it's gotta be a good movie.

    Sorry, but I don't have one of those. Upon completing the Zaku Amazing, I realized that something was missing. As it turns out, unlike the Build Strike Gundam Full Package and Build Gundam Mk-II, the Zaku Amazing does not come with a Booster unit. Instead, you have to buy the Amazing Booster kit. It's basically the Zaku Amazing's armor parts and weapons strapped to a giant chunk of plastic to form a maroon and gray spaceship. There are also some extra parts that make good use of the armor panels. For example, the shoulder armor can be converted into gauntlets, the missile launcher and Heat Nata holders can combine into a shield, and the leg parts can be used as rocket boosters for other Gunpla. Definitely worth picking up.

    Finally assembled my Build Gundam Mk-II. Those expecting a completely new model will be sorely disappointed, as the Gundam itself is the 2002 HGUC kit. Not to say that articulation is bad, but very lacking compared to current HG kits. Further disappointing is the fact that the new V-fin and chest panels are molded in blue, forcing modelers to either use the provided stickers or paint them yellow. At least it has less wasted parts than the Zaku Amazing. Still, the Build Gundam Mk-II is an awesome kit. Now to finish painting it up.

    I managed to score HG 1/144 Zaku Amazing and Build Gundam Mk-II yesterday. After nearly four hours, my Zaku Amazing is complete. Will pick up some paint for it next week. The Mk-II will take longer, as it requires painting on a lot of vital parts. Fortunately, I bought the colors in advance. Hopefully, I'll have it up and running next week.
