  1. It's still the ugliest Super Sentai robot, but at least it's an improvement over the DX version. The new definition of clusterf*ck.
  2. The next PPV is Extreme Rules on May 4. Here's the announced card, along with my predictions. WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan © vs. Kane The Big Red Monster has returned to his roots as a diabolical heel that plays mind games with his opponents. But in the end, expect Bryan to prevail on top. WWE Intercontinental Championship: Big E Langston © vs. Rob Van Dam or Bad News Barrett The Intercontinental #1 Contender tournament is currently in the final stage, with Rob Van Dam defeating Cesaro by count-out and Bad News Barrett pinning Sheamus. Cesaro losing in this tournament means he's gunning for the WWE Championship instead. RVD just came back from a long hiatus, but expect Barrett to beat him in the finals, given his current momentum. When all is said and done, Barrett will once again become I-C Champion. Steel Cage Match: John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt Why is WWE wasting Wyatt's time with Cena? He should be feuding with Daniel Bryan for the gold right about now. If he loses this match, the Wyatt Family will completely lose their momentum. WWE Divas Championship: Paige © vs. Tamina Snuka Normally, a Divas Championship match is a piss-break, but Paige has proven that she has the in-ring skills to match her looks. Expect her to hold the title throughout the year. Six-Man Tag Team Match: The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns) vs. Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton & Batista) Sadly, expect The Shield to be buried by HHH as usual. Triple-Threat: Cesaro (with Paul Heyman) vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Jack Swagger (with Zeb Coulter) It's sad how RVD is caught in the middle of the feud between Cesaro and Swagger, as he deserves better than this. Without a doubt, Cesaro will win this match. 2-on-1 Handicap Match: Alexander Rusev vs. R-Truth and Xavier Woods Just another piss-break. Pre-Show Kick-Off - WeeLC Match: El Torito (with Los Matadores) vs. Hornswoggle (with 3MB) This is just gonna be a very short match.
  3. Guyver: Dark Hero New Line Cinema, 1994 Directed by Steve Wang (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight) Based on the manga by Yoshiki Takaya (Hades Project Zeorymer) Running Time: 123 minutes Rated R for graphic sci-fi violence and profanity. Cast David Hayter (Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series) as Sean Barker/Guyver Kathy Christopherson as Cori Edwards Bruno Patrick as Arlen Crane Christopher Michael as Commander Atkins Stuart Weiss as Marcus Edwards Alisa Merline as Brandi Kristen Calkins as Lois Koichi Sakamoto (Power Rangers action director) as Sakai Plot Years after fusing with the Guyver and destroying the Kronos Corporation in Los Angeles, Sean Barker travels to Utah to investigate an archaeological dig that bears clues to the origins of the Guyver and the Zoanoids. Upon his arrival, he once again must confront the Kronos Corporation, which has been financing the dig for their own agenda. Lowdown It's a new-and-improved live-action Guyver, with a darker plot, no comedy, lots of blood and gore, and story elements directly taken from the manga. David Hayter does a more convincing portrayal of the troubled youth Sean Barker than that pencil-neck geek Jack Armstrong from the first film. The action and fight choreography are very close to that of Kamen Rider ZO.Unfortunately, like the first film, Guyver: Dark Hero has its own faults; the main downside being its meager US$500,000 budget. Because of this budget, the camerawork is shoddy, with several frames coming off as blurry. Most of the props look cheap and unfinished. And the acting is simply unbearable. Despite the overall cheap quality, Guyver: Dark Hero is a guilty pleasure film for those who are into sci-fi B-movies. Otherwise, watch the anime versions instead. 4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo1YkF4UqEM The Guyver New Line Cinema, 1991 Directed by Screaming Mad George and Steve Wang (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight) Based on the manga by Yoshiki Takaya (Hades Project Zeorymer) Running Time: 92 minutes Rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and strong language. Cast Jack Armstrong as Sean Barker/Guyver Mark Hamill (like no one here knows who he is...) as CIA Agent Max Reed Vivian Wu (Wenxiu in The Last Emperor, Mitsu in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III) as Mizky Segawa David Gale (1936-1991) (Dr. Hill in Re-Animator) as Fulton Balcus Michael Berryman (Skull Cowboy in The Crow, Pluto in The Hills Have Eyes) as Lisker Jimmie Walker (J. J. Evans in Good Times) as Striker Peter Spellos (Monev the Gale in Trigun, Gilliam II in Outlaw Star) as Ramsey Spice Williams-Crosby (Patrice in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vixis in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier) as Weber Willard E. Pugh (Mayor Kuzak in RoboCop 2, Harpo in The Color Purple) as Col. Castle Jeffrey Combs (Dr. West in Re-Animator) as Dr. East David Wells as Dr. Gordon Greg Paik as Dr. Tetsu Segawa Linnea Quigley (famous B-movie scream queen) as the Scream Queen Plot Martial arts slacker Sean Barker stumbles upon an alien prototype device and bonds with it, becoming the armored warrior called the "Guyver". But now he is wanted by the Chronos Corporation, which sends its band of Zoanoids to capture him and recover the Guyver unit. Lowdown As a means to ride on the popularity of the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, a production team led by Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator, Crying Freeman) created the live-action adaptation of Yoshiki Takaya's manga Bio-Booster Armor Guyver. It had a who's-who cast of actors that every Fangoria subscriber would know. The Guyver suit was meticulously detailed, as well as most of the Zoanoids. It had the potential to be a good sci-fi film that could go toe-to-toe with Kamen Rider and Japan's tokusatsu staples. And then came the script. In an attempt to make The Guyver family-friendly, the screenplay writers resorted to slapstick comedy - especially during the fight scenes. Combined with the unbearable acting of the main cast (except Mark Hamill, who was probably here just for a paycheck) and a horrid soundtrack, the film is almost unwatchable unless you put it on Mute to appreciate some of the special effects. It's a shame the first-ever live-action Guyver turned out like this. The 1994 sequel Guyver: Dark Hero is a better product, but not without its own faults. Why the Japanese have not come up with their tokusatsu version is anyone's guess. Rating: D References The Internet Movie Database Wikipedia
  5. Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 72% Metacritic Score: 58 out of 100 By the time it goes Stateside, the film will be somewhere in the mid-60% on Rotten Tomatoes (possibly within Thor: The Dark World's 65% rating). Still, I trust this cast more than the Sam Raimi trilogy.
  6. After watching WrestleMania XXX and the two most recent episodes of RAW, I thought I'd give an analysis on current angles and Superstars: The Intercontinental Championship Tournament For the first time in a long time, the WWE has finally paid attention to the working man's championship title, which has been on the waist of the boring and uncharismatic Big E Langston. The first round winners are Rob Van Dam, Cesaro, Sheamus, and Bad News Barrett. Expect Cesaro to win this tournament and beat Big E for the title. The Wyatt Family Despite jobbing to John Cena at WrestleMania, Bray Wyatt and his gang still receive the largest crowd pops today. It's amazing how WWE attempted this deranged redneck gimmick with Waylon Mercy over two decades ago and failed, yet it works perfectly with Windham Rotunda. Paige Last week, it was believed that Paige's upset victory over AJ Lee was a fluke due to the sloppy finisher, but that submission move she locked on Alicia Fox looked painful. Alexander Rusev The 305 lb. NXT graduate proved to be a handful when it took four Superstars to lift him over the top rope at the Royal Rumble. Now doing singles competition against jobbers, "The Bulgarian Brute" may be the next must-see Superstar with his mix of sumo and martial arts, plus his hot manager Lana. It's like Rocky IV all over again. Too bad WWE will most likely feed him to Cena in a couple of months... New Superstar Promos It's time, once again, to look at the new faces entering the Superstar roster. First we have (Taylor Michael Rotunda), who is the younger brother of Bray Wyatt. His vignettes incorporate elements from the film The Secret and pitch him as a motivational speaker ("Bo-lieve"). Expect Rocky Maivia-level boos when he enters the ring, as the crowd won't buy that crap.Next we have (Raymond Leppan, a.k.a. Leo Kruger), who is being pitched as a party-going rock star. The crowd will probably be dead silent on this, as they have been on NXT.
  7. Sure, last week's Divas Championship was sloppy as usual, but Paige... damn... Paige
  8. WWE did a 10-bell salute, with half of the roster wearing Warrior shirts. RAW Live Results: April 14, 2014
  9. Ultimate Warrior: The Ultimate Collection WWE Home Video, 2014 Running Time: 540 minutes Rated TV-PG for "sports entertainment" Nearly a decade ago, WWE released the DVD The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior, which was not a biography video but the company's propaganda on the Ultimate Warrior's legacy tarnished by his unethical behavior backstage. But now that both the Warrior and Vinnie Mac have rebuilt bridges between themselves, a new compilation DVD was produced to celebrate his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Ultimate Warrior: The Ultimate Collection takes a look back at the life of the man who first started as Jim Hellwig, an aspiring chiropractor who pursued a career in bodybuilding before he and another bodybuilder named Steve Borden joined the world of professional wrestling. While Borden eventually went on to become known as Sting, Hellwig grew his hair long and gradually refined his face paint as the "Dingo Warrior" in World Class Championship Wrestling before being repackaged in the World Wrestling Federation as the Ultimate Warrior. From 1987 to 1991, his intense ring presence and thunderous entrance theme made him a heavy draw in ticket sales that quickly rivaled the likes of Hulk Hogan. His rivalries with the Honky Tonk Man, Ravishing Rick Rude, Hogan, and "Macho Man" Randy Savage were nothing short of legendary, with one WWF World Heavyweight and two Intercontinental title reigns on his waist. The DVD set is hosted by Warrior himself, as he talks about the highlights of his career between select matches from the WWE Video Vault. Sadly, his presence in this video is that of a frail man who no longer has that same energy that enabled him to run and shake the ropes. Because of his untimely demise on April 8, 2014, one cannot help but think this video was a complete farewell to his fans (aside from his final speech on RAW). Nonetheless, if this is how the Warrior wants fans to remember him, it worked very well on his favor. Thanks for the memories, Warrior. Rating: A References WWE.com
  10. Early this year, someone released a Hercules movie starring some guy from Twilight, and it became one of the biggest flops (US$44 million earnings out of a budget of US$70 million) and worst movies of the decade (3% on Rotten Tomatoes). And now comes the other Hercules movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and directed by Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand, After the Sunset).
  11. Looks like I'll skim through Memory of Eden and see if it's worth salvaging. Meanwhile, I just finished watching the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Special Edition compilations. Having not seen the series in its entirety, did I miss anything?
