If only Tamiya would join the Macross Modelers group... Imagine a 1/48 VF-1 with really comprehensive internal detail, opening hatches and photoetch detail everywhere...
-
Maybe they'll do a 1/72 Destroid Spartan since Wave isn't 😆

I think it'd look more natural if the 'knees' were just more separated out from the thighs.

I've got a bunch of the Fujimi 1/24 sports car kits tucked away, but I know they do other things as well. I wish I had their Blade Runner spinner kits. Really not sure what they can add to the mix that the other companies aren't doing. Other than provide stuff in scales the other companies aren't doing, or doing some more obscure subjects.

I see. Partially correct. Partially incorrect. I think they at least changed the most important parts. I'm not too bummed about the rest. I've already bought all 4 Hasegawa SDF-1 kits so it is what it is.
-
I probably am not familiar with the differences enough, but what did they mess up? From eyeballing it, it looks like the main guns, arms/shoulders, and command tower are different. Are there bits in the main body and legs that should have been different?

And the SDF-1.

Ya, I doubt Hasegawa will do a battroid 1D around the same time as the Max Factory kit comes out. Going to have to wait a while. I don't get why they didn't do one already though. They did the 1D gerwalk pretty quickly after the first gerwalk releases. I know the battroid line probably didn't get a ton of love. There's only been a couple special re-issues like the Minmei Guard and the special scheme armored battroids, compared to the numerous special re-issues of the fighter kits. But then again, the gerwalks have NO special re-issues, but still got the 1D right away.

Maybe. Probably? But I want a Hasegawa version that won't look out of place with my other Hasegawas. Maybe the fact that Hasegawa went down the 'realistic' route and Max Factory went the other way with anime styling and detailing will keep the chance of a Hasegawa version alive.

I assume I'm not alone in this, but i always loved the VFs best when it comes to Macross. So while I'm interested in some enemy mecha for diversity, I'll always be most interested in things like 1/72 YF-21 battroid, 1/72 VF-11 battroid, 1/72 VF-1J Max super battroid, 1/72 VF-1D battroid, 1/48 YF-21 fighter, 1/48 VF-11 fighter, 1/48 VF-1D fighter, 1/48 VE-1 fighter, and 1/48 VT-1 fighter. Not much to ask for, right? 😆 That said, I'm looking forward to a 1/72 Glaug and I really hope they do it. TV Rau would be cool too.

Pre-ordered both! I quite like the look of the YF-19 battroid actually. Hopefully a 1/72 YF-21 battroid will follow in.... time.
-
Yeah. And even more frustrating, the fighters are non super, while the gerwalks and battroid are supers. I just want a display with all 3 modes that's consistent! Probably I'll wind up getting extra super fighter kits and donate the super parts to the max/miria fighters. Rather than de-super the other kits.

Every time I see a new post in this thread, I'm hoping it's to share news that a 1/72 VF-1J Super Battroid Max and/or Queadluun Rau Max have been announced. 😅 But yeah, my YF-19 with fold booster came in at HLJ too.

I also noticed the minovsky particle detection sensor decal... sometimes you have to get creative with decals from the spares pile when your kit lacks bespoke decals.

I don't necessarily expect to see traces of vf-1 (or vf-4) in the vf-2. In the same way that the f-14 doesn't resemble an f-15 or f-16. But vf-1a, vf-1d, vf-1j, vf-s are all clearly minor variations on the main vf-1 design. Same similarity can be seen in vf-11, vf-17, vf-25, and vf-31 variants. And others as well. Variants being barely more than a head change in most cases. Then you look at vf-2j and vf-2s and they are about as different as an f-14 is to an f-15. How can they really both be called vf-2? I always wondered why it wasn't vf-2 and vf-3 or something. It's bothered me ever since I first saw the show lol.
-
I always thought it was strange that the 2J and 2S/2SS were essentially entirely different fighters.
-
I'd love to watch it if the promised official USA blu-rays ever get released... After a long period of just getting fighters and the occasional gerwalk and battroid kits from Hasegawa, it's nice to see another company doing some modern quality battroid kits. As for the red color on the fire valk, I don't mind it.

It looks great, as a kit. I've just never liked the head on this one, as a design. Prefer the VF-19F or VF-19S. Was looking at the mecha list for Macross 7, and my god there's a LOT of VFs in it (I've never had a chance to actually see the show).

Looks cool but... I want the VF-17 battroids SO much more.
