Bandai 1/72 Scale Transformable Macross Δ Kits

Haven't dealt with Bandai decals in a while. Are they thick and hard to conform to curves and details? -

As long as Hasegawa does an E, I'll be (mostly) happy. If they were all shown with Super packs, then I'm hopeful that we'll see Bandai do a Super VF-31F and Super VF-31S after the Super VF-31C gets released. I saw a customized Super VF-31E in a model mag and I thought it looked fantastic... I wonder if they will release any more DeCulture variations? -

The harder the paintjob and the more the decals, the more I love a model. I got into models decades ago, for the hobby enjoyment of building and finishing. I'm not into transforming and posing anymore, so the toys don't mean much to me. So bring on the models. -

Oh, darn.... got my hopes up. I don't buy the completed toys. Just plastic models. -

If it's not an engineering problem, I have to wonder why Bandai is taking so long to release a VF-31E. I must admit I find the color scheme quite eye-catching, and I'd really like the 'set' to be complete. Not sure what to think about the super versions. The VF-25 had a standalone super parts set with markings for all the VF-25s, but so far Bandai seems to be doing only unit-specific super sets for the VF-31s. No 'generic' VF-31 super parts set. I would guess they might do a Super VF-31F and Super VF-31S too... did all the VF-31s sport super packs at some point in the show? I would buy MANY VF-171s, especially if they did different variants. VF-17, VF-171, VF-171EX, RVF-171... It's a commonly seen design and therefor conspicuously absent from the plastic model line-ups. -

Oh, is there a Bandai VF-31A web exclusive? -

Based on Hasegawa's past release strategy, I have to believe they will eventually cover all the VF-31 variants. Since they've gone so far as to make up decal variants and model variants in the past to milk moulds, and have covered things like versions from video games and rides. How could they skip main characters from the show? Can only assume that Hasegawa has a VF-31F and VF-31S in the works, with a VF-31E later on hopefully. -

What's the VF-31J convention exclusive? I only know of regular, super, 35th Anniversary, and DeCulture versions from Bandai, and a regular fighter from Hasegawa. I thought both Bandai and Hasegawa had released green Drakens, with Bandai offering markings for one pilot and Hasegawa offering markings for 2 pilots? Or am I misunderstanding? I would KILL for some VF-171 kits. From either company. -

Does the Bandai model seem engineered to allow for space to add the folded dish? -

I'm assuming they'd provide both options. I haven't seen Macross Delta... is the dish mechanism complicated? If so, that may be why Bandai hasn't done one - couldn't figure out how to make the dish work in the context of a transforming plastic model. And they seem to frown on parts swapping for transformations now. -

I'm more hopeful that Hasegawa will do the VF-31E. Plus a whole range of super variants, I hope. -
So do we reckon Hasegawa will do the VF-31F next? And then the VF-31S because there's no way they won't do that one. And maybe the VF-31E last? (Please do it Hasegawa!) And then the question of Super versions...

I'd love to see a VF-1 in Diamonbacks squadron markings.... In general, I'd love to see VF-1s in all the different markings of squadrons that flew the F-14 as well... Sundowners... Evaluators... Tomcatters... And etc... I think these markings would all look great on a VF-1.

Honestly, my favorite VF limited variants are the ones that have schemes resembling real-life squadrons. I really want to see a VF-25 (and VF-31) done in this style:

It looks to me like the Hasegawa decal sheet has pink AND grey striping options? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10438402/40/2 I'd expect to see a SV-262Ba Kasim/Theo/Xao boxing later on with orange and light blue striping options. Then the OCD among us could buy 5 SV-262Bas and build every version. (I've already got 2 copies of the current Ba kit to do Bogue and Hermann)
-
Forgive me if this is a silly question (I haven't seen Macross Delta and know almost nothing about it): Is it likely they'll release another boxing of the Sv-262Ba later, with markings for other pilots? The current release is marked as being for Bogue/Hermann versions. According to the wiki the Aerial Knights include: Roid Brehm Keith Aero Windermere Theo Jussila Xao Jussila Bogue Con-Vaart Wolf Gura Do any of these guys (not yet covered in current kits) fly anything other than a Sv-262Ba? And do their units look different enough from what's covered in current boxings to justify another variant release?
-
I'm in for an extra one of each.
-
I hope you're right! Hasegawa has released SO many VF-1 repops... and also a fair number of variants for their YF-19, YF-21, VF-0, and even VF-11 kits. So the relatively reserved amount of VF-25 versions so far seems strange.

Gawdy airshow scheme jets are good jets. Some examples: (I would love to see more VFs in paint schemes like these)
-
I can't find an online reference for what the VF-31B looks like. But I appreciate all basic/cannon-fodder units. Still can't understand why Hasegawa hasn't done a VF-25A (or YF-25). Very easy mould-recycling opportunities.

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-19EF/A Isamu Special *March pre-order*
KOG Water Dragon replied to slide's topic in Model kits
Sounds right. Previously they were listed as OOP. They aren't new items so they can't really be on 'pre-order'. And they aren't in stock yet. So Backordered pending renewed availability seems right. At least they aren't on 'order stop' yet. -
Well, we got a limited edition VF-0C with delta wings based on the delta wing VF-0D, so there's a precedent for this.
-
I figure they are publicity/PR units, so showy is good. IMO.
-
If it's 1/100 I'd pass. I'd need something in scale with my Hasegawa/Bandai model collection. And yes, I LOVE the VF-2SS. I really want a nice 1/72 kit. I have 3 of the old Bandai kit but they are 1/100 as well I think.
-
Another toy! The one I was thinking of is from Evolution Toy. Maybe this signals a renaissance of Mactross II merchandise? Maybe a Hasegawa kit isn't as impossible now as I thought it was... The Bandai looks nice, but A- it's pricy and B- it's not a kit. What scale is it in?
