HWR-00 mk X Star Slam image request
Barpharanges replied to wolframbane's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well... I have a slightly bigger scan. Not much more help, I'm afraid. -
If I recall correct, at first, only the "J" model could use the GBP armour, as I believe the makers of the armour were the same as the makers of the "J" model VF-1. Therefore, Hikaru was just using the first available GBP; Number 1. Later, the other model VF-1's were enabled to use the GBP.

The only Transformer Energon worth buying
Barpharanges replied to SupremeKaioshin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Just picked up Arcee. Neat and surprisingly simple transformation. The engineers cheaped out on the arms though, and they are very limited it their movement. Her open palmed hands are a very strange type of transformation I've never seen before, and look weird. Other than that, a really nifty toy! -
Opinion: best starfighter designs ever
Barpharanges replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
UH Oh. I just deleted the Gall Force scans from my picture host. I still have them, but they won't be in the Thread anymore. Great. Must find box with scanner! (And scan some Blassty designs for MSW while I'm at it!) I am a Bad Boy. As for nifty fighters, I remembered another fave of mine; The Bronco II from orguss. A stubby little trans-atmospheric fighter, with legs! -
Opinion: best starfighter designs ever
Barpharanges replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I have the same tastes as most others here, but the fighter designs in both the anime's Gall Force and Crusher Joe are some of my all time favorites as well. I'll have to dig up pics... -
About bloody time. That movie almost killed Nelvana (my former employer). One of the rare examples of an animated movie that was edited after being fully animated (a huge waste of time and money. Thats what storyboards are for.) I think I'll seek out this DVD... By the way, the original name for this move was Drats, and that is also the name of the main charactor's species (its why Omar, Mok and others have that freaky leather patch at the end of their nose.) The back story is that Rats, Dogs and other animals survived humanities Wars and inherited the Earth. @MSW I remember that Movie. One of the first to let a computer do the animating for the vehicles (Remember the heroes starship with the rotating nacelles? Very much like Firefly's ship Serenity. Even pulls a "crazy Ivan" in the movie!) I'd love to know what the heck happend to that movie...

For all those Canadians still without Masterpiece Prime, my local Walmart (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) is now selling him for $49.95CDN (Around $38 US). Not sure if this is a local price, or if all Ontario Walmarts are selling him off reduced. Might be worth a look, if you want one. Or two. I'm glad I waited....

Another nifty Orguss Line Art source can be found in Super Plastic Model Manuals Part 2 . Its in only half the book, but there are pics not found in the "this is Animation" series. By the way, the other half of Super Plastic Model Manuals Parts 2 has some nice Line Art of the Macross Destroids

Strange you thought the animation to be crap. Pirates of Dark Water (the first five episodes, at least) was an experiment by Hanna-Barbara, to create an older (young teen) audience cartoon. It used twice as many drawings per episode as a "normal" 22 minute cartoon, plus many scenes were "on ones" (24 drawings per second, rather than the standard 12 (or less) drawings per second). Unfortunetly, the experiment failed, as it was of course twice as expensive. When they showed the 5 pilot episodes again, the flying monkey's voice was changed from a calm british accent to Scrappy Doo... The Horror! Its too bad, really. Pirates of Dark Water was some of the best animation to come from that studio.. *Pointless segue to real thread topic* Where as "Challange of the Gobots" is probably one of the worst from Hanna-Barbara. I still remember a line from the charactor Dive-Dive; "I like it here on Earth. Theres no water on Gobotron." Then why the hell does he turn into a submarine?!?.....
-
Man, I hate to de-rail the thread further, but if we're waxing nostalgic on 80's cartoons, them I must plug my favorite cartoon of all time; Mighty Orbots. The writing was terrible, but the animation holds up even today.... *Pathetic attempt to stay on topic* The Go-Bot combiner Puzzler was even better than the Transformers Gestalts IMHO, because all the members transformed into the Limbs/Torso of the Puzzler without need of extra parts....
-
The Orguss "Hero" mech was based on an armless Gerwalk called "Bronco II". The original Destroid Monster MK I had no arms, they were added to the MK II. Neat observation. I haven't realised Armless mechs are usually villians....

Matrix A.P.U. DELUXE - Buyers beware!
Barpharanges replied to Limbo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Weird. My A.P.U.'s right arm snapped apart at that pesky joint. A VERY weak connection for so much mass. I'm thinking some stray glue from the torso assembley may have fused the rotational pin, causing limited poseability as you shear through the plastic pin untill it snaps off. I'm trying to fix the problem as we speak. Wish me luck..... -
To answer Areaseven's Nov 16 question, I have most of the original Dragonar model kits, and love them to death. There are a few problems with joint loose-ness, but the models look great. The instructions usually have nifty cutaways of the 'Armours, plus assorted facts (in Japanese). Word of caution, though. They are smaller than your average Gundam kit (except for the 1/100 "D-1"), so don't expect huge hulking robots from the box. Also, it you have the money, Dragonar kits are the best source kits for scratch-building other robot designs. Most of the 'Armours have a really standardized, simplifyed moble frame (internal worky bits) with the armour bolted on, and with a bit of work, the various joints and detail bits can be used anywhere. Plus the polycaps used are the same as the Chars Counter Attack and Most Patlabour model polycaps, so its a snap to mix and match parts to test ideas.

@CaptRico Your not intruding, and I'd like to talk to you.... Gall Force designs are a great example of what I like about mecha. I will scan the size comp. chart as well. Man, I'm gonna break the spine of this book
-
Thats a handy link, Kong. Thank you. I've had no time to scan more model sheets as of yet, but I will soon. And the JET BLOWGUN will be one of them...
-
I'll try to get some more scanned soon. @Kong; I do have Model Sheets of the WASP, but I am not familiar with the name TORNATO. Can you tell me where in the series it shows up? By the way, for clairity, here is a partial list of names for the Solnoid mecha seen in the first OVA; Star Fighter BRANCH- Lufy's first craft, with the nifty forward section escape pod. Star Fighter VINE- The boxy fighters that Lufy rams in the STARLIEF's rear hanger. Star Fighter STEM- Briefly seen leaving the STARLIEF's top hanger. STRUGGLE Suits- Short range power armour. Also an escape system for the BALSAM. Breakthrough Bouncer BRONZ-D - Semi-autonomous robot. Can be piloted, but wasn't in the OVA. Star Fighter BALSAM- Nasty fighter with a STRUGGLE suit escape system. See above for scans. JET BLOWGUN- Transformable Jet bike/power armour. War Craft BREAKER- Kinda like a limb-less robot/fighter jet with VTOL. Also seen (but I can't find the name) were; A different type of Breakthrough Bouncer used by anotion faction of Solnoids. 2 different types of VTOL transporters. And the Second OVA; Star Fighter WASP- Lufy gets to fly one of these. Based on the BALSAM Star fighter. Star Fighter MOSQUITO- An "F-19 Stealth fighter" nailed to a platform with two boarding torpedos Breakthrough Bouncer DETONATOR- Cyborgs pilot these as giant power armour. STRUGGLE Suit- An up-graded power armour based on the first series STRUGGLE suit. STRUGGLE DIVER- A re-entry capable partially transformable power armour. Breakthrough Bouncer BRONZ-X -Up-graded BRONZ-D from the first series. I do not have the space to host all these scans, nor the time to scan them all at once, but if there are any of the above you would like to see, post here and tell me. I will try to post as much as I can. Also, the PARANOID troops are dead ringers for the Inbit/Invid from Mospeada, so if any Mospeada fans wish to see slightly transformable Inbits, just let me know.
-
It might help if I actually post the pics, eh? Here is the "ejection seat" for the BALSAM starfighter, the STRUGGLE Suit; The ejection proccess; The Suit itself; The "cockpit" of the suit; Enjoy!
-
Actually, my scanner isn't working either. I'm in the middle of a move... But I will try to scan some more designs at an outside source. By the way, there is a transforming hoverbike called JET BLOWGUN, whose wacky transformation will blister the inner thighs of the driver... I eventually would like to scan all the Gall Force Mecha I have model sheets of, so everyone else can see. I managed to buy three Gall Force artbooks for a mere $5CDN each years ago, and have never seen them again. I have no idea of the true name of the book I am scanning, but the english fine print reads; GALLFORCE/ETERNAL STORY/THE FIGHTING GALLENT GIRLS and a stylized blue JET BLOWGUN with Rumy piloting adorns the front cover. The rear cover has a stylized blue Breakthrough bouncer BRONZ-D. This book has everything! Early designs, Key animation, Charactor and Mechanical model sheets, the full(!) storyboard, Location Designs for Chaos and even size comparison charts for all ships and mecha.
-
Thought any fans of Gall Force would like to see these model sheets I scanned. A recent Gall Force thread had a request for these designs, so rather than re-animate a dead thread, I'll make a new one. I also have scans ready of the STRUGGLE Suit (emergency power armour for downed BALSAMs) if you guys wish to see them. The War Craft BREAKER; The BREAKER's cockpit entry and display; The Starfighter BALSAM; The BALSAM cockpit; Enjoy!

Gal Force is one of my favorite OVAs, and yes, the Earth Chapters are sequals to the first three. I may be spoiling the story, so if you haven't seen Gal Force, stop reading. OK, the first three OVAs were about a war between 2 Races, the Solonoids (the women fighters) and the Paranoids (kinda like the Daleks, the Paranoids were green goo within machine bodies). The two were equally matched, and both realized that they would eventually kill each other to extinction. So in secret, some higher ups on both sides devised a plan to mesh the two species into a third, unique species, so at least part of the Solonoid and Paranoid genome would survive. Naturally, the third species became the human race, or at least the Male half of the human race. @Mildred I have several art books from Gall Force "Eternal Story", and one from its sequal "Destruction". Can you be a little more specific about when the craft you are looking for is seen in the OVA? If its the 2 fighters in the end, then they are called "War Craft BREAKER". I'll try to scan some pics for you.

@CHAN I can answer the "white room" control center question. Just before that scene, you see the real control room, with around 8 people seated with eyes closed and jacked in. They were within a mini-matrix like construct built by Zion.

Its a small world after all! I saved the pics from a very nice webpage called The Genesis Climber MOSPEADA Universe. Its address was; http://3dgamedev.com/robotech/Research/Mos...a/Mospeada.html , but don't bother clicking the link, as it is no longer there. Lots of neat stuff, like this tiny pic; Wish it was bigger, but it finally shows the interior bomb bay of the damn Tread...
-
I believe this drawing came within a liner note booklet for the DVD re-release of the Mospeada series in Japan. A nifty Tread (Beta Fighter) redesign was done as well. I'll try to dig up some pics.... EDIT; Found it. The Armoured (liked it needs it) Tread;

The logos can be found on the extra decal sheet that was included with the clear plastic Valk re-issues from Hasagawa. I'll try to dig up a picture. EDIT Ah... Here we are. Not the greatest pic, but the logos can be seen (barely) Here. They are all lined up at the top of the sheet on an angle. This pic is from the Hasagawa Macross option decal #1, which is similar to the extra set found in the clear re-issues.

Scratchbuilt 12" Space Marine
Barpharanges replied to GreatMoose's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nice Marine! You should post pics of it in a Space Marine Forum I frequent called Bolter and Chainsword. They'll love it. I believe the CG movie UN Spacy is talking about is called Bloodquest. Its not quite dead, but it needs more funding to continue production.
