War Of The Worlds Trailer is OUT! Summer 2005!
HWR MKII replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i understand what your saying radd but at the same time most people who know the story well are in my age group and make up a large percentage of the viewing audience. after the 1950s version and a poorly made tv series back in the early 90s i just want to see the book i have read so many umpteen times made into a faithful film. from what i just saw on the preview at pendragon pics it will be good. also with the rush of book and mercahndaise sales that will happen before the speilberg release alot more people will probably read the book and want to see the book version instead of speilbergs well made but yet not true to book version. maybe speilberg is telling the radio show from the 30s version. it took place in NY,NJ. iv just been a fan of the story forever. right now it seems like the same thing that happened with dawn of the dead and 28 days later. two movies with really similar stories released very closely to each other. looks like speilberg is remaking the 50s movie and pendragon is doing a ture to book version. i have to say that for the first time i dont want to see a spelberg movie. given the choice id take my chances with the underdog and see what ive been wanting. pendragons comes out first as well. -

hold the phone i just checked. pendragon pictures actually did finish production. heres a link http://www.pendragonpictures.com/WOTWKEY.html hmmm childhood may not have been raped! says there it has a march 30 2005 release date. and production values look good on it. if this comes out befroe the speilberg version(if the 2 arent the same movie) then speilbergs will flop. why go see the remake set in modernday after you have seen the truer to book translation. -

ive been following this movie since 2001. it was supposed to be set in present day NY like it is nowbut then 9/11 happened so they couldnt blow up the WTC like they wanted. PENDRAGON studios had the rights at first. with the present day option gone at the time they were going to do a word for word scene for scene remake from the book. PENDRAGON still has the rights but is taking forever to release the movie. BOBE is the speilberg one the same as this i havnt seen the speilberg preview yet but the pics at pendragon pictures show nothing of tom cruise and the story is definitely set in the right time period and country. now speilberghas it set in the present day again and in NY and NJ. wasnt there a movie back in 1996 that was a retelling of the war of the worlds? OH YEAH IT WAS INDEPENDANCE DAY! lets see alot of aliens show up and destroy the earth and a VIRUS winds up being the answer to stopping them. GIVE ME MY PERFECT BOOK TO SCREEN CONVERSION! for anyone who has read the book youll know what i mean. -
ive found if your downloading zero the best ones to download were subbed by ANBU they even added in nice credits of their own to the video that dont detract from the quality. you may have to start a few downloads to find it. alot of the bad engrish ones are online now too because of the bad boots. like in epi 5 where MAO becomes MAYOR? OK?

nice collection ranger. i still think your "survivor" CF is the best one overall but the rest of the kits show that even your early stuff had good quality and construction behind them. O.T. i have the same self units in my hobby room. sean

i have the dropship. i have to rebuild it though it didnt take well to being shipped across the atlantic. the thing is huge. its over 2 feet long. my only gripe is that the missile pod booms sag after a while even though they are made from a tougher resin and the landing gear struts werent metal. im going to look into making replacement struts with brass rod. the struts on the studio model and the 1/1 set dressing were taken from an avro vulcan bomber. i may also look for a 1/48 metal set of vulcan struts. i really want that monster. the 72 scale one would be better but i have no place to keep it.

Aircraft VS super thread!
HWR MKII replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
the V22 osprey basically is being retested from the beginning because they had to rip out and redesign the whole hydraulic system. guess the marines finally got tired of them falling out of the sky fully loaded. -

Macross Mecha Depicted in non-Macross Series
HWR MKII replied to wolframbane's topic in Movies and TV Series
no offense to any RT fans out there but if HG wants anyrespect here i hope they just choose to use their own brand new designs on this new show they supposedly are making. you want people to watch it then give them something new dont make quality anime into 60s and 70s quality kung fu dubs by ripping the visuals and trying to fit your own story. i have seen the VF-1 design used in so many places i cant count. i keep an eye out on other anime to see its cameo. one place i saw alot of macross mecha cameos was in the old show exo suad. they were always in the background for uick shots. the toys were even repackaged tomahawks and defenders and the enemy character toys were repackaged mospeda toys. -
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! (sound of running footsteps) SPLAT!!! head hits wall. i have seen some disgusting things in my time but this takes the cake. its worse than Basara's head on Fei's body.

with all the good work being done on this site we should flood the fine scale modellers magazine site with submissions. lets show them that there are more models out there than sherman and tiger tanks, ME-109s, and aircraft carriers. i dont know how many more "how to weather your tank" articles i can read. hell i think theres enough talent on this one site alone to warrant our own publication. we could have WM be the editor.

Macross Mecha Depicted in non-Macross Series
HWR MKII replied to wolframbane's topic in Movies and TV Series
WTF!? isnt that emblem copyright protected? its the version used on the destroids. in macross the red kite in the white circle its for the UN ARMY. the mecha its on isnt even macross related -
ever heard "putting brownies in the oven"?
-
i like the blue. its bright without hurting the eyes.

jessee your a prince among men, and then some. my wife is pulling her hair out wondering where i will put these things. good thing she loves macross as well. she didnt object to the purchase either. its a better deal than the 1/48 UD VF-1 strike. i eagerly await reciept and will probably post a build up thread. ill have a better camera for pics too. can we still get decals from the same place referred to earlier in the thread or will the kits come with them?
-
NICE!!! it gives me ideas on how to "fix" the paint job on my 1/48 UD strike. i wanted to go for the same effect you have achieved here.

Could anyone recommend a good 1:72 scale F-14 kit?
HWR MKII replied to GunnerX's topic in The Workshop!
actually italeri, tamiya and revell are sourcing out to DML/dragon for their kits. a good company for large scale armor and acft is trumpeter. i have their 1/35 scale MI-24 hind v and its much better than anything tamiya offers, and their 1/32 A-10 is excellent. -

HWR MKII replied to GunnerX's topic in The Workshop!
academy used to be attached to minicraft and usually reissued older tamiya kits at half the cost but now they tool their own new kits(I.E. tiger 1 with full interior). normally anything by academy is good. model rectifier is a merging of italeri, tamiya, minicraft, academy and a few other companies that share alot of molds and issue kits with different markings but are usually all the same kit(I.E. academy 1/35 scale blackhawk/italeri 1/35 scale black hawk) the mig is one of the better kits offered by academy. -
i just realised while building my 1/72 YF-19. the 19 makes a VF-1 look like a midget. my 1/48 scale F-15E makes my 1/48VF-1 look like a midget. how small will my VF-1 or my 15E look compared to these huge things. i did some rough calculations and the 19 itself is longer than the 15E. i might need bigger shelves.

you can get the gel in arts and crafts stores like michaels. its in the acrylic paint seaction in a tub and sometimes tube. get a small tub at first and see if you got the right type sometimes they dry opaque. the paste will be either clear or milky white kind of like thick white glue. you tint it by adding small amounts of acrylic paint into it. my prototype wont have a wooden base on it just yet i still need to get it but the foam will be cut to shape and the proper dimensions so when i get the wood all i have to do is glue it to it. i may do a knocked out stone or concrete bridge that has a steel temporary one attached to span it like ones that were blown up in bosnia. i have plenty of reference pics of that. im also looking at recent tank developments to see how i can modify the standard 1980s 105 mm abrams to make it look like the UNARMY has been using it. some kind of external overtech upgrade. i may replace the barrel with some twin railgun looking thing with cables and conduit on the turret.

hey Grayson ive only seen the pic of yours in the collections thread and it was small so i couldnt make out much detail but it looked good from what i could tell. it was next to what appeared to be an early bradly fighting vehicle. if you look at the pic at the top of the page you can see the wide soft brush i use for all my drybrushing next to its foot. ok the idea i have for the river scene will be with the abrams and hummer gaurding the road across the bridge with the defender walking by squishing its foot into the stream bed and sloshong water about. im going to use acrylic gel medium in layers to build up the water and keep its clarity and sculpt the slosh effect into it. the hummers have their doors open so i cant do a mobile scene but a defensive action is good too with some people milling about. i may have them watching it go by like its the first time they have seen it. i came upon thr gel medium idea because resins have a tendancy to yellow tamiya paints when they warm up as they cure. i should have a prototype ready this weekend at least a rough cut one. im still deciding on a concrete bridge or steel frame one. it would have to support the weight of an abrams. im suprised at how well the markings came out. yes they are all hand painted some are airbrushed and some are with a brush.the G3 on the shoulders is done by hand while the light grey marks on the legs are airbrushed.

thank you IDO and JARDANN my wife actually found my first macross model for me after seeing DYRL? it was the hase elintseeker. i still have it it just needs some fixing after moving to england. i like the rivercrossing idea. i could use a clear resin to do the water and still show off the defenders feet.HMMMMM i also have some foam around that i could cut into the base ground before i cover it. i think ill go with it. thank you sean

WM you have been doing that work with a single action!? wow now im more impressed than before. i use a double action as standard and i still feel i have a little way to go compared to your work. although armor and acft are 2 different animals. still i love the work you do. sean O.T. there are alot of sean/shawns on this site huh
