EXO all i have to say is OMFG!!!!! -
ill have to check my references but the defender doesnt look like that. ill scan the image tomorrow and edit this post with it. the defender , clutch and phantom all have 3 wings but the defender is larger behind the ball section. they are all variations of a theme and easily confused. look in the vehicles and vessels book for the EU line art and the defender is in there.
-
that isnt the tie defender. it has 3 "wings" i guess like the tie defender but it isnt.
-
talk about balls to the walls.

BXZ93A is the number hard to miss on a 10ft x 5ft screen im suprised i never noticed that seen in epi 24 when misato is staring at shingi's door.

PEN2 or pen squared depending on how you take it. or were you referring to the fine print above it?
-
finally a thread as funny if not funnier than the engrish thread i also own a ball and a monster that i play with. alot of you have seen my monster grow up.
-
ok last one. this one is without te backpack so you can see how far down the wings are placed in case anyone wants to use this idea. the wings are just glued in place but thats ok since with the missiles on there the wings wont be able to fold anyway. to use the wings just snap the pivots off the fighter mode kit wings and glue the wings in place below the pivot mount for the battroid mode wings. this also allows me to have the formation lights on the wings. the kit wings didnt allow that.
-
front right. again the change is not too noticeable from the front. especially with the missile pods on the wing.
-
ok heres the solution front left with no missile pods. there will be though you can see how i lowered the wings just enough that it doesnt interfere with the shoulder. this was inspired by the anime magic of DYRL? i just didnt go as low as the animation did it looked too weird.
-
try using lighter grey artists pastels around the panel lines then seal with your favorite topcoat and do the black wash over that. or you could postshade/highlight with a similar lighter grey around the lines.
-
thanks noyhauser that was my only real gripe about the kit besides fit problems stated in the other thread. other than that i wouldnt mind building a squadron full of battroids. or would that be a company of battroids...... or platoon? oh and missile problem solved without resorting to kit threatening surgery.
-
WM Cheng i wasnt too concerned with the exact pose i just wanted to be able to have the arms raised period. with the kit wings as they were it was impossible. the soft plastic hase used also led to a shoulder pin breaking. fixed now and i have a good pose that i like with fully loaded wings. the person who did the figure pictured above also lowered the wings a little even though it wasnt needed in the end with the way he made the shoulders. i wasnt bashing hase in its entirety just simply posting my opinions on the kit. all other hasegawa kits thus far i have had no real problems with. they are the best macross kits around and i am appreciative for the work they put into the execution of their overall product . sean
-
i have no real problem with hasegawa either i was just a little suprised and p!ssed that they didnt put a little more thought into the shoulders of the battroid kit. i was also suprised at the inconsistent quality between the battroid and the strike options. i normally expect good quality from hase but i got a little less this time. as far as the acft kits i could care less about panel lines on the acft kits as long as the shape is right ,which it is. theres my 2 cents sean
-
well i looked at the options available and i went with the "anime magic" one. i lowered the wings just enough toward the waist to allow the shoulders to pivot . the only thing now is that with the strike armor on the arms i cant put the arms straight down. i dont mind that since the battroid looks more dynamic with arms raised with a gunpod in hand. this change i made isnt really noticeable with the backpack on with the fast packs and you probablu wouldnt know if i didnt say anything. ill post a pic tomorrow after work of the pre detail/decal model.

when i get the one you sent me jessee im going to actually try to stretch form some clear acetate over the part to make a clear replacement. carve out the solid part and put some sensor "bits" behind it. paint the clear pieces on the inside with clear red and attach. that should result in the proper looking sensor. i just hope the mail system gets me the kits quickly. im also going to use some clear green sprue from a gundam kit to fabricate the green thingey thats behind isamu's head in M+ sean

actually they are clear red sensors like on the VF-0.
