Seams or no seams if you can build a model and make it look good regardless of seam lines then kudos to you. its all about the effort we all have our own tastes.

The landing gear looks ok to me i think we are used to seeing it compressed for carrier launching or up while in flight. I compared it to the TV series (project boobyduck) and the DYRL? hangar scenes and it looks like it gets taller when the fastpacks are installed. I know the legs get lowered to a different angle as well. Neova the problem with the fit on the fuselage is the seam where the cockpit section meets the "chest" plate there is a 1/16 to 1/8 inch step between the 2 pieces . Personally i dont mind it too much since the plate is supposed to slide over the cockpit a bit and deploy the heat shield so it seems like its "supposed" to be there.. Jade do you have anymore pics for us to see ? I would like to see more in progress stuff.

actually on some models (if you dont care about seam lines ) its better to paint on the sprue and then assemble the parts afterward. you just have to touch up the marks where the part was on the sprue. i care about seam lines so i only paint single objects that wont require sanding or filling after it helps alot on small things like 1/35 scale rifles and such.

look up the Xuron corporation they specialize in plastic and photoetch snipping tools.

Hey Jade. I finally recieved my second yes everybody second UD strike. i checked the legs out and i dont have the problem you had some slight warping yes but no length issues and nothing some hot water and rubberbands cant fix. I also discovered to my amazement that my first one was an actual club M origional . I have to say that although being the same exact kit that the Gsystem kit is far superior in quality.(ducks thrown manfei) the resin has a rougher less greasy texture. The model shows nowhere near the same amount of shrinkage, the UUM pods on my other appeared sucked in on the sides. My canopy rails arent warped at all and the overall casting seems sharper than the other. The decal sheet includes markings that were not in the other kit it has the acft ID color stripes for the characters. The only drawback i can see so far is the sheet isnt as extensive as the other one i had and has no stenciling or other markings like the little skull squadron markings behind the canopy. Ill be using the leftover parts from this kit on my other valk to rebuild it in a more exposed mechanical way. AAAHHH superglue debonder the resin modellers friend. Anyway back to your build my friend. sean

I use the Revell germany dual action internal mix airbrush . it seems to use alot of common parts with a pasche airbrush so im looking into getting interchangable needle and tip parts for it . my compressor is the good metal testors one that allows you to control your air pressure settings. Aztec airbrushes are good for 2 things 1 its good for beginners and is disposable 2 its cood for keeping when the nozzels are shot for dusting models. why waste money on canned air.

Star Wars Episode 3 Spoilers Thread
HWR MKII replied to zeo-mare's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Grevious is a reptillian alien whose planet was ignored by the Jedi when they were asked to help. His planet wound up getting slaughtered by a neighboring system thus his hatred of the jedi. Yes his arms will be featured when he has his final fight. OT side note to the other thread: anyone who goes onto a thread titled Episode 3 pics and whines about spoilers should really check themselves. -
actually mechwolf the powerloader was designed by James Cameron and was a fiberglass shell with a stunt man inside operating it with Sigourney Weaver riding on him. im in the air force and we have tested no such device as a power loader. theres nothing we could use it on. I work in acft weapons and most acft sit too low to use that to load it and cargo acft are so big that it wouldnt be efficient to use it to load the acft. The loader in the movie was supported from the sound stage with wires taking the load off the frame of it and allowing the stuntman to move it. Although its a guy in a suit considering the way bipedal robotics are going and advancements in tech it could be possible . I also read that Cameron wanted to do a scene in the film with Ripley working outside in space in a loader to show the fact there wer e strong magnets in the feet . i think those would keep it from tipping over under some loads. plus since when is animated film not magic? lol.

When working with metallic paints its always safest to give it an acrylic clear coat.

The power loader from Aliens seems most plausable. The design speaks for itself.

Actually could you post a list or the kits, parts and recources used on this project if possible?

His shift may still be something to dread we just dont know yet. Sure we may not like the actor but if pulled off right we could be looking at the best thing on screen since the frist SW in 77. Chrono i also agree with you that models have a visual weight and depth that CG models just dont get right . Aside from that ILM still uses models in its space pattles they only used CG in the large closeup beauty shots where you might make out the details of the pilot. Example of bad CG. X-Men when Wolverine cuts the shotgun in half in canada the actor holding it isnt holding anything look at his hands they are open and the shotgun is stuck onto his palm. Physical prop would have been quicker and easier.

I didnt have as much of a problem although i did true up alot of the mateing surfaces before i assembled them. i also cut off some of the locator pegs on the parts to fiddle them into place a bit more.

(Bump) sorry guys just keeping it alive until the decals arrive. ooo I made a Rhyme.

Is it me or is Ewan starting to look more like Alec Guiness? Weird considering that he is related to Dennis "Wedge Antillies" Lawson.

A little joke for you.....
HWR MKII replied to 1st Border Red Devil's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Im glad i wasnt in country for the freedom fries crap. i mean really honestly who thinks that crap up. Being in england right now i have to say that alot of the french people i have met through my neighbors are wonderfully decent people. But i still have to say it was a good joke. -
Lets see tanks hmmmm. how does a full option Tiger 1 with metal tracks sound, or the King Tiger, and a heavily upgraded bandai Sturmgeschutz IV with metal tracks and dual motor drive? all in all about 2 grand worth of tanks (had to get a bandai Panzer IV for a lower hull on the stug) ANYWAY! back on topic. Fernando any more pics of the paint job or will you keep us waiting in suspense?
-
Any ideas yet on the color scheme you are going to use? im still thinking of a DYRL? Max S for mine maybe the DYRL? Hikaru A. im going to strip and redo my old one once i get the new one completed to refinish it . sean

you could have your pressure up too high as well so its causing the paint to atomize and dry a little before it hits the model. a lower pressure should allow for a wetter coat with better coverage. Normally tamiya paints are ok right out of the bottle i usually add just a little water for help but most times its straight out and i have no trouble.
-
if thats what it takes. you are looking at someone who has dished out that on a 1/16 scale tank and has 2 UD strike valk kits
-
if anyone else has that 1/72 monster and is willing to sell ill pay well for it. Excellent work fernando. Your work is inspiring yet again.

If you want full articulation in the road wheels, 360 degree turret rotation and good detail then you want a 1/16 scale tank . Those are a little out of the stated budget though. I voted for Xmods. I bought the supra and skyline back in october of 2003 with the body kits with motor , suspension, bearings, and all wheel drive upgrade. Aside from needing a perfctly flat surface in a large area to run them they are great. The speds are comparable to some of the larger scale kits on the market. Definitely worth the money you pay. The upgrade kits are relatively inexpensive running 19 to 25 dollars for an upgrade.

Macross Live Action definitely do-able
HWR MKII replied to Kamion's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
EVA live action should be vaporware. Just because the effects company that did LOTR is attached they think its going to suceed. Macross live action though could have a better chance than EVA at working because the story itself can be easily told and sold to a wider audience. Anyone who has not sen all of EVA in its animated form would be lost to say the least if they tried to watch the live action one.
