Working on the 1/32 scale A-10 N/AW from trumpeter. Also picked up the new DML P-51D. It is packed with detail and only has 2 faults. FAULT 1= The kit comes with FULL gun bays in both wings, BUT BOTH WINGS ACCESS COVERS ARE MOLDED CLOSED! This is small since on the underside of the wing you can see where the area for the access covers is thinner to allow you to cut them over. FAULT 2= Although you CAN cut these covers open THERE IS NO PROVIDED DETAIL FOR THE COVERS THEMSELVES. No PE parts or anything to replicate the detailing on the insides of these covers. The kit is good and will allow some really nice detailing possibilities. Im just a little disappointed in DML, after their new 1/35 tank kits that are PACKED with all the little details you can think of. this just seems like a smack to the face. You would think if they knew they were putting a full gunbay in each wing they would have made the covers as seperate pieces and detailed on both sides. This reminds me of something TRUMPETER would do. Trumpeter is well known for ALL the gimmicks that this kit has. Clear engine cover panels. Full detailed parts that get hidden once the kit is completed, and many other little things. The kit also has a weird texture to the skin of the acft which looks like it will make it very difficult to get a good polished aliminum shine out of it. Heres some pics of the gunbay parts i have already cut open and the instructions for the steps involved. NOWHERE does it say or even point out that the gunbays can be cut open. Again this is very unexpected from DML. I wouldnt be suprised if this were actually a project that trumpeter dropped.

Thats weird steve since the last 1/48 i ordered from them was the same exact price as the first one i ordered 3 years before but came in a G system box. The first one came in a reproduction ClubM box. The only difference was some of the part breakdown, and metal landing gear on the second one. BUT both were ordered through Hobby Fan.

the HF recast IS the Gsys one.

i hope my monster makes it through its trans atlantic move well. it is disassembled and all pieces are individually wrapped but i know it got tumbled when it was being loaded.

There was a standard fighter variant sold at a WF BUT the kit does come with the parts to make either the Fighter, Super or Strike Versions in either A or S configuration. If one was crafty enough with magnets and pins the kit could be made interchangeable between versions.

Actually Geert it has the options for a VF-1A or VF-1S in it. No 1/48 J exists outside the toy world. The Gsystem kit IS the club M kit. Some refinements have been made to it. Some parts were preassembled and cast and details were sharpened up. If you use the search function you will see there are actually quite a few posts on here about the Gsys kit. I have built 2 myself.

The 1/72 project will not be started until february. It will also not be mentioned until complete.

Working on the 1/6 crew for my Leopard tank. These have custom made heads to give the crew the correct headgear. This headgear is not available through commercial means. The head is cast with a blank where the face goes. You have to slice the face off another 1/6 dragon figure head and then trim that, fit it and paint the rest of the head.

Hase Battroid Super/Strike Armor same as the Hase Varlkyrie Armor?
HWR MKII replied to Dax415's topic in Model kits
No they arent. Well at least the Leg armor isnt. There are length and height issues between the battroid and fighter models. The same could go for the arms. The boosters could possibly be swapped though. -

weird double post with one click

Guys you know John didnt have to master these destroids at all. To me it looks like a destroid tomahawk. Its better than the injection molded ones and has better detailing. Thats all i ask for. Could you do better? I know i couldnt. Thank you John for taking the time to master these kits for us. We all know there are other subjects you would rather be working on.

Pics or circled parts on instructions usually help to better and more quiclky replace the part in question.
-
That isnt as much a macross cannon replacement as it is 4 zentradi command ships strapped to a central hull. its one of the things i didnt like about M2
-
Or ask on SSM there used to be a list on the main site of different products and their names in different countries.

I have NEVER had to thin Future. If its too thick it means you left the bottle open.

Just like the monster nooe really showed interest until the first images of parts arrived. Seeing how you have a wing of the 19 done already id continue with that. Also the 19 is a simpler subject to master compared to the detail hog that the macross wil be. I say just pick the one that wont kill you to make. We all remember how sick you got during construction of the monster.
