Whats Lying on your Workbench MKIII
HWR MKII replied to HWR MKII's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Keep it coming Kenny. The ed of the project is near. If kylwell can do a spindly SV-51 up in a splinter scheme you can do this one easy. -
Looking good. I just hope you didnt compromise its ability to stand. The feet are wide but i think the model still leans forward a little at times. Be sure you firmly reattach the toes with brass or aluminum tube so if it does lean forward it can take the weight. For the missile arm covers you may need to flatten out the area on the backside of where the 3 holes are to get the backing plate to sit flush. For the arm seams where everything joins i used automotive grade bondo on all of them. Not that the fit was bad but i wanted something that could take the flex and weight bus still be scribed. For the smoke dischargers you will have to make your own. Off the shelf units from 1/72 tank kits are too small. Man all this is making me want to strip mine down and redo some things on it now.

As to 1. Yes i just discovered that. I wet to the source file at photobucket. For some reason the forums wouldnt allow me to see the size. For this i apologize. On point 2 could you unlock the thread for me please so i can make a comment that it will be a WIP seperate from teh "official" thread? The "official thread is just way too big for me to get info on the kit well. So if anyone has any pointers from their experience that could help me in my build it would be great if they could post there. This way i will actually see their info and thers can follow along in my build. Nobody has doe a straight build of one of these yet ad what im doing could be informative. WM Cheng has done a build but his was partly started before hand.

2 things ticked me off today. 1 i get a PM saying my avatar is too big. It is animated but it fits within the 128X128 parameters set and its gif size is well under the 200. Yet i get a PM telling me its too large. I double checked the thing MONTHS ago before i even attempted to upload it. I know if the avatar is beyond the set limits it will not allow you to link to it or upload it. I play by the rules here so i dont have to get BS PMs like this and have threads locked. 2 A thread i made for an upcoming WIP thread is locked. Nobody asked or commented just up and locked. What is going on here. I dont spam. Usually if i start a thread its going to amount to something. Who is the new mod in the models section? Or does someone just have a grudge agaist me. I dont normally start trouble here.

It was going to be a WORK IN PROGRESS THREAD. Not just another question thread. Who the frack is going nuts here. We got someone new to the job as a mod in the model section?

Just ordered this kit from Starship Modeler. Order was confirmed today so i should have the kit in my hands by thursday. Having followed up with the Badai thread i believe there are no big issues with it. If anyone else has input before i dig into it let me know. Im also going to try usig WM Chengs magnet tricks to tighten things up a bit. Im not a fan of bandai Kits in all honestly. But i like Valks and the Ozma one was the only one available. All teh Alto variants are sold out. Even though the reviews of the VF-25 kits have been nice overall there are some areas i may feel inclined to detail up more.

I say go with a paint scheme similar to what the YF-23 prototype had. -
Ah but if you were to sandwich the 3 parts before you shape it you would be machining them all level ad there wouldnt be more seams than on a hasegawa injection canopyif any at all . Those are easy to polish out. Also a person of Johns skill should be able to machine something perfectly suitable.

A 3 part plug would work. Make it in 3 longitudinal slices. when the form is pulled over it just remove the mliddle slice and the 2 outer ones will have wiggle room to get removed from the part. the end result will be a very nice defined bubble shape

ZOMBIE!!!!!!! Great work o the 22. I like the stiffening plate along the wing root. That actually makes sense especially cosidering the wing can fold downward at that point for high speed manuvers. -
Good work. Id add the Dadelus and Promethius in the harbor too. I think there was a shot or 2 showing them anchored there. Its how they wound up in space with the SDF-1 in the first palce.

Thats basically it Petar. Part of why it took so long to master it was because there were so many variations in detail. I just said forget it and asked a group of people do they want a particular accurate rex or a model that captures the overalllook and feel. The majority concensus went for the "looks like rex" option. Once that was settled it went very quickly. -

The line art is very inconsistent. So are the game representations. Between MGS1, Twin snakes and MGS4s non damaged areas of rex there are MAJOR shape and detail differences. With mine i did make it a little more stylised. More like the graphic novels. Also the pick a pose option made me make some compromises. If the railgun anr radar were closer to the body it would have cuased posing issues. The stylized look does help give it a more animated feel i believe and the overall look "feels" right. In the end i made this kit for myself honestly. Others expressed a great interest ing it so i decided to offer it up to others. Which at its heart is the true reason the GK industry existed in the first place. Thanks to those who appreciate my efforts. -
In the end theres nothing to 100% prove it. A flanker part is a flanker part. There are small indicators that they copied however. But since there was no official license for it held by Chris there not much for him in going against them. Unlike Michael Rinaldi and the E-100. Rinaldi created the original turret and details YEARS before trumpeter decided to do an E-100 Ausf B. He saw this and went after trumpeter. Now in the trumps E-100 there is a nice note on the front thanking Mike for his technical assistance.

WTF !?!?!? Recast. I mastered it and had it cast by another MW member myself. Recast is for when you copy something that has already been prodeced using the kit parts as a master. THIS my friend is ORIGINAL! -

HWR MKII replied to Valkyrie's topic in Model kits
Valk is casting them for someone else who will be selling them relatively soon. A certai Scifi website. -
For it to spray "Clear" it usually takes a full bottle of whatever thinners you are using. Their method still does not get it clean. theres always some left behind.

I know how much it will be but that is not necessarily what SSM will charge so it would be best to wait for them to post its availability. It will not be that expensive though -

I will have a test shot of this on my bench come monday. Starship modeler will have it in their store when it is fully ready. Heres a pic of all the parts in the kit. 71 Parts total. -
Thats because the hind rotor system was overdesigned. They tested it on a fully loaded MI-8 Hip during development. the rotor for the hind could structurally support 2 hinds with no problems. Also the Hind is a troop trasport/attack Helo so it does need a certain amount of extra lift and power.
-
Still doesnt mean they will get it right. BUT we will see. Maybe they will get a copy of johns kit and use it for measuremets similar to how Trumpeter got a copy of an intake correction set for their 1/32 flanker and copied it for the 2 seat release.

We need some sort of decal/sticker for the VF-25 instrument panel
HWR MKII replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Model kits
The testors sets work great. dont buy their sealer just give them an even coat of future from an airbrush. I used this process for some 1/1400 aztec saucer decals for a USS Enterprise and it came out perfectly.
