The Bandai 1/55 Valkyries are the "BOMB." Especially, the reissue Valkyries by Bandai. Features like prepainted decals and swapable heat shield. And yes all the reissues 1/55 Valkyries by Bandai have the swapable heat shield. Well, at least the last time I checked. However, I could not understand why Bandai did not include the missile clusters like the one from the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie. Or even better, I can not understand why Bandai did not reissue the following: 1. GBP VF-1S giftset 2. Strike Valk 3. Super Ostrich 4. Elint Seeker Or new ones like the Minmay VF-1S Strike Valk Guard, the VF-1D and so on. Never say never though because it could be in the making as we speak. Or its up to us as Macross fans to convince Bandai that there's a demand for it. For example, taking considerable amount of preorders to show Bandai that we'll support the project. But this move is just my idea though. Hmmm.....in fact, lets all try something new. How does everyone feel about taking a pole to see if Bandai should reissue the above Valkyries. Starting with me, that is one. So who's next ? Let see a show of hands for those who would like to see Bandai rerelease the above valkyries (No. 1-4). [/b]

The more and more I looked at the Minmay Strike Valk guard, the more I want to convert one of my Bandai reissue 1/55 to the Minmay Strike Valk guard. With that said, has anyone tried doing this? If so, I can sure use your help to convert one of my reissue 1/55 into one. Please provide pertintent information of what I need, material wise, in a step-by-step process. Also, does anyone have a reprint decal sheet for the Minmay Strike Valk guard? Thats all I have for now folks. Ryver- USN

I've been a Macross fan since the animation aired in '85 and I thought I know everything from head to toe. Just recently, I was contemplating about the GBP Armor and could not decode the acronym for "GBP." Kind of frustrated so I thought I would check in with everyone on that. Your help is greatly appreciated. Ryver- USN

What's up everyone. This may be old news, but as I checked out articles from www.cooljapanesetoys.com, I came across photos of Takatoku Toys prototype line-ups of the 1/55 Valkyries. In it, I saw the VF-1D and the VF-1J Max (TV Type). I must be dreaming or something. But it was real as diamonds. Takatoku Toys actually made the VF-1D and the VF-1J Max (TV Type). Personally, I don't understand why they did not make them for sale. Weird huh. If not Takatoku, Bandai could at least make them. At least we know they exist. All we can do is dream on... Okay, back to reality. Here's the URL: http://www.cooljapanesetoys.com/clubcjt/03...enjis_attic.cfm Ryver- USN

That sounds like a great idea! But even better if it comes w/ the box. Not just the box, but also the animation art work on the box too. Be sure to make the styrofoam for the Bandai reissues too. Too bad its in fighter mode though. Anyhow you have all my support on this project. I hope everyhting goes well!

Hey what's up everyone. I was just curious to see how big is everyones' collection on the1/55 Valkyries. This includes all the Takatoku, Bandai, custom made, and the reissues. Please post a few pictures of your personal collections. Just thought we can share what we have with other Macross fans of the 1/55 Valkyries.

Approximately two years ago, I paid $120 for the Max & Milia. It came from Hong Kong. In my opinion, they are worth some where around $100 each. However, the most recent value of the M&M Valkyrie 1/55 (from eBay auction) is much more. They both ended at $185. In mint unused condition and used for display. Here's the auction number: 1. VF-1J Valk 1/55 Max Item number: 5917917610 2. VF-1J Valk 1/55 Milia Item number: 5917918219 Now if I was to pay that price for them, I minus well get the original Takatoku. If Bandai only started off the reissues 1/55 with the M&M, i'm pretty sure it would sell well since they are popular and they are in pairs too. And if "HG" was the caused of the limited production of the M&M, they could have at least work something out w/ Bandai because obviously there are demands for the M&M Valk 1/55. Its like going out with a group of top-notch babes/chicks and if one of them don't give in, the rest will follow. Thanks alot there ahh...."HG" for messing up my game! I mean its not like a women where they come and go. Ryver-- U.S. Navy

I did not know Bandai place UV inhibitors on the reissues. If this is true, then i'm happy to have the Valk reissues 1/55. What is more important to me is exactly how do we contact Bandai?? And if only Bandai ask those questions: "In what order would you like to see the 1/55's reissued in?" This would be my list: 1. VF-1S Strike Valk 1/55 2. VT-1 Elintseeker 1/55 3. Super Ostrich 1/55 4. VF-1S Valk GBP set 1/55 Darn, it was just a dream! Oh well like the saying goes: "Wishful Thinking." On the other hand, I just can understand how such a good company like Bandai improved so much on the reissues 1/55, yet they did not produce the other Valkyries above.

From HK and S'pore to the U.S., shipping normally cost $20-$25. For example, around June03 I bought a vintage VF-1S Strike Valkyrie 1/55 from HK w/ shpping $425. This item was opened and in brand new condition! It was bone white and the misc. contents were sealed in their little baggie. At first, the seller accepted my offer of $300, than cancelled. So I offered him another $100 to closed the deal. Evidently, Noel sale what he feels is the value of the item. I must say it is one of the highest i've seen around. Then again, i'm pretty sure there are people willing to buy it. But if one have a choice to get it for less, where would you think one will choose? Don't get me wrong, Noel has the finest vintage Macross toys around and there may come a time that i'll buy one from him to complete my Bandai 1/55 "DYRL" Macross series. At the same token, i'll be on the look out for a less one too. The HCM's or the Macross 1/55 usually cost $20-$25 for shipping to the U.S.
-
Hi Graham; Yeah, I noticed that the prices from HK are expensive. For example, "Blackaces" offered me approx. $650 w/ shipping for a VF-1S Super Valkyrie (MIB unused) 1/55 by Takatoku. Approximately a week ago, it was $260 in eBay. According to the pictures, it was fabulous!! Blackaces is a wonderful guy, but his items are pretty expensive. But as far as the HCM's goes, if the time is right one can get it for a lower price.

Everyone has a good point. Much appreciation for the replies. Yeah, something is fishy about that town -- Paterson. Even my shipmates avoid that area. In case everyone is wondering whether "arafat209" is reading this forum, he is doing just that. So he knows exactly what's going on. At this point, I must say that i'm beginning to feel suspicious about his sudden moves. I think i'll have to abort this mission. Eventhough, I really wanted to catch the lies in the act. Someone mentioned that he uses multiple ID's. Well, this is true because I made contact with the buyer from one of his auctions, yet to no avail or reply. I mean that buyer only has 1 feedback. This shows suspicion! Hmmm....does anyone know how this topic came about because if memory serve me right, I asked the current market value of the originals 1980's Valkyries 1/55.

Hey what's up everyone! Thanks everyone for the positive replies and comments. Its very helpful comming from fans that share a common interest. In this reply, I would like to update my interactions with "Arafat209." But before I do I wanted to be clear and firm on a few things. First, I have not met with him yet. The purpose of my visit is to evaluate his conduct/ behavior regarding business and the sales. Secondly, I would not call it a promotion, but an interview. I wanted to check out the merchandise and confirm whether the conditions are accurate as described in his auction site. Think of it this way, i'm the agent who will investigate the so called cunning "arafat209." Please understand that i'm not doing this just for me. I'm doing this for all of us and i'll give you the up-to-date report. I dislike liars and deceptives people and I don't want anyone in "MW" to be a victim. I'm in the armed forced remember. My job is to shield you from harm! So let that be known my true Macross fans. With that said, here's what happen when I conversated with "arafat209." Approximately 1400, I called him and introduced myself. We talked and agreed to meet up at his place. Everything sounded normal and legit. The meeting is this Saturday, which is 4Sept04. Then at approximately 1600, I received a called stating that his boxed items are not available because it will be shipped to "AFA"(Action Figure Authority) for grading. Yet, I can still swing by and check out his other Macross merchandise. Hmmm.....do I sense something fishy here? Yes I do!! Again, i'm playing a patience predator waiting for the right moment to strike his prey. Why didn't he tell me that his boxed and sealed boxed are in route to be graded by "AFA." Why did he changed the date for meeting? Why did he cancelled the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie by Bandai 1/55 from eBay when I inquired about it? Hmmm....yeah this immediately raised an alert on my radar. But, I can't act impulsively. Not yet at least. I like to study my subject and learn from their behavior. No judgment or opinion, just the facts in the series of events. Documentation folks. So stay tune for the "why" part folks. As I mentioned earlier, i'll give you an up-to-date report. Remember, I have not meet up with him yet. Ryver- U.S. Navy

Personally, I would say approximately $175 on the average. And it varies on the conditions and the buyer to seller/ seller to buyer. Every situation is different, but statically, its around there.

I sense a lot of hate for this "arafat209." I must say that reading some of the comments about him is funny and hiliarous too! So funny that i'm getting six packs on my tummy. But just for the record, I want to make it clear that i'm not on anyone side. I'm just going about my business. Just like in the Navy's SEAL mission: Aproach, strike, and abort! Well, according to "arafat209" pictures, it looks fabulous!! Now, I got to see it with my own eyes. It's amazing what one can do. Simply knowing someone powerful with authority. Ryver- U.S. Navy

I'm always open to constructive critism or as they say: "Judgment and Evaluation." For the record, i'm nothing like "arafat209." Nor do I have the intention to be like him. A gentlemen like me with high standards in ethical matters is no where near "arafat209." I come clean folks, just doing what is best and honest. On the other hand, I do feel your speculations. If it makes anyone safer, you are more than welcome to check out my feedbacks from eBay: "agent-ghq." I'll guarantee you that you'll be most impress with my feedbacks and credibility! So again, a U.S. Navy sailor has nothing to hide or gain from deceptive and cunning acts. Believe me, I was well brought up into the world with standards and morals. With that said, I hope you learn some qualities about me as your Macross pal. Until then, i'll keep everyone posted on my visit to "arafat209" world.

What's up Macross fans! Much appreciation for your feedbacks on "Arafat209." As I mentioned earlier, I have not dealt with this seller, so I can't reach a decision whether he's a crook or a legitimate seller. All I can do is keep my radar on 24/7 just incase of unusual and peculiar activities. In fact, he's got a VF-1S Strike Valkyrie 1/55 by Bandai up for auction. Go to eBay and type in "Takatoku" in the search box. It looks brand new!! But his asking price or "Buy-it-Now" is $400. P.S. Luckily for me i'm stationed in NWS Earle in New Jersey and I made arragement to stop by his place and he will show me all the Macross merchandise. I'll keep you guys/gals posted. Sincerely, Ryver-

Hello everyone! Thanks for the warning about "ARAFAT209." This seller seems to have created a disturbance among "MW" user. Despite what was said about him, I checked out his feedback in eBay and I noticed only 1 negative feedback within 12 months. I checked out the feedbecks from buyers and the majority are stated "Fast arrival", Smooth transactions, an asset to eBay, and so forth. All of which are good and legitimate feedbacks. With that said, I can't really say that he's a bad seller in anyway. The only thing I did not like is the sticker price for that MISB Super Ostrich ($2,400). In fact, I have e-mailed him a few times and he responded and provided me with some pictures of the toy's description. Personally, I have not encounter any discrepancy with this seller. But i'll definitely keep my radar on 24/7 for unusual activity. Once again I would like to thank those who gave me the warning. Its always good to see another happy Macross fan and not getting ripped off.
-
The seller of the Super Ostrich is from Paterson, NJ. His eBay user ID is "arafat209." He has tremandous wealth of original Macross toys 1/55. Anywhere from loose to MISB conditions. According to arafat209, his folks was in the service and stationed in Japan. That is were he got all his Macross valkyries. I do agree that $2,400 is way too much for the MISB Super Ostrich. Hopefully, Bandai will see the demand of the "DYRL" valkyries and reissue them. I sure wouldn't want to pay that kind of money on vintage toys.
-
Actually, let me rephrase my question. If you were to buy the above original Valkyries, how much would you pay for them?
-
What's up everyone! I would like your comments on what the original 1/55 series are worth. I don't know if this is just me, but it seems like the value of the original 1/55, from Takatoku and Bandai, are dropping. Obviously, the Bandai reissue affected its value. I mean even the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie is around $300-$200 MIB and unused. Just makes me wonder if Bandai has plans to re-release the Strike Valk, Elintseeker, and Super Ostrich. If Bandai offically remake them, the original will sure to drop in value drastically. I mean, why would anyone want to pay an arm and a leg when the reissue is identical w/ new features. Anyways, back to my original topic, I would like your feedback on what you think is the current market value for the following items. All from the 80's. This will help determine the average prices that fans would pay. Oh, assuming its MIB/ unused condition and complete. 1. Bandai VF-1S Strike Valkyrie 1/55 2. Bandai VE-1 Elintseeker 1/55 3. Bandai Super Ostrich 1/55 4. Bandai VF-1A h. Ichijo 1/55 5. Takatoku VF-1S Fokker/Ichijo 1/55 (blk/yllw stripe) 6. Takatoku VF-1J H. Ichijo 1/55 (red stripe) 7. Takatoku VF-1J Maximilian 1/55 (blue) 8. Takatoku VF-1J Miriya 1/55 (red) 9. Takatoku VF-1A Kakizaki 1/55 (brown) 10. Takatoku VF-1S GBP-1S gift set 1/55 11. Takatoku VF-1S Super Valkyrie 1/55 Please provided me some feedback and what you think the value are if there're discrepancies to the toy such as decals applied, missing bullets, armor, discoloration/yellowing, broken tabs and so forth. Your feedback will definitely help us as a whole to determine where the common and average prices one would pay. Thanks everyone. Until then, i'll talk to you later my fellow Macross fans. P.S. I happen to know a seller who's asking price for a "MISB" (that's right, Mint In Sealed Box) Super Ostrich for $2,400. Would you pay that much for it? If I was a celiberty status with lots of money, maybe I would. but as a common player, I think i'll pass on that.
-
That's awesome!! If I come across those Valkyries at that price, I would buy out the entire stock. Because i'm a kid in the 80's, I have to say that I love the 1/55. Even if I was a kid and exposed to the 1/55 and the 1/48 series, I would definitely choose the 1/55. I feel that everything about the 1/55 is just perfect. Yeah the 1/55 could add a few details, as mentioned, to spruce it up like the custome 1/55 Valkyries. Just imagine that. Speaking of custome, I have the following 1/55 reissues that I plan to customize and make it look like the Macross "DYRL" series. Super VF-1S x 8 VF-1A H. Ichijo x 4 VF-1A Kakizaki I'm just having trouble to match the colors of the armor as in the movie though. While i'm on the topic, does anyone know where I can get those exhaust funnel for the leg armor and the 1/55 "DYRL" decals? I must say, eventhough the 1/48 are high in details, the 1/55 is just right for me.
-
In my experience with Tamiya, the results are very good and stable. However, I aslo tried Gunze Sanyo. Something about Gunze Sanyo really shows superior results and in paint quality. Even though they are both from Japan, I personally like the Gunze. The results just feels right. Whatever paint you choose, be sure its airbrushed. Hope this help!
-
That 1/55 Tomahawk Destroid souds awesome. Do you happen to know where I can get a picture of it? Also, wouldn't the re-releases of the VF-1S Strike Valk, Super Ostrich, and Elint Seeker (1/55) sell like the other reissues? I'm pretty sure fans out there will pick a few of there own. Would anyone happen to know where we as Macross fans can persuade or convince Bandai to re-release the above Valkyries? Like a petition showing Bandai that fans are willing to buy if made. Kind of like a preorder thing that can be used as collateral. Ahh....the 1/55 Valkyries!
-
Hello everyone! Thanks so much for your feedback. It is sad to say that at this point, no confirmed rereleases of the Bandai 1/55 from the DYRL series. But yeah, since no one works for Bandai that can confirm the releases, i'll just keep on dreaming until that day come. Like the saying goes; "Wishful Thinking." I somehow feel that the reissue had a good sale. If only they started off with the Strike Valk, Super Ostrich, and Elintseeker. I'm pretty sure it will sale faster than a brush fire. Doesn't Bandai know that there's a demand for the old school 1/55 DYRL series. By the way, Graham are you the man in charge of MW? And where is this site located? Is it a small business or personal kind of gig? I was just curious. Thanks for your help.
