Fortunately, my squad does not go out on ships. Thank God for that. Life on the ship sucks. Especially working w/ what I like to call, bunch of "Thugs." We work strictly on shore. Just 2 more years to go and i'll be free like a bird. Hehe..So where are you stationed at?
-
Im stationed in the best place in the world (to me though): San Diego at Coronado Island. So you work w/ the FC huh, thats kool. I love those GQ drills. hehe. I have a shore duty working on HS-10.

I've always loved the 1/55 series. And when I learned about the 1/48 Yamatos', I was still very much in love w/ the 1/55 series. Yamato 1/48 still didn't cut it for me. But just recently, I bought my first set: VF-1S H. Ichijo and Super/Strike armor pack ($250 from chowser) for the purpose of evalutation and inspection. And I was curious so I got one just to see what it was like. Surprisingly, it did not take long until I fell in love w/ it. I was like damnnn....it was a lot better in person than from the pictures. The Yamato 1/48 has the latest and the greatest technology compared to the 1/55 series. I like the new sandy/ruff texture of the surface, the big 1/48 scale, the highly details from every components, the rubber tires, the removable hatches and covers, and the fact that the GU-11 can be installed under the belly in fighter mode!!! There's a lot more to it too. At this point, without a question, I can say that I love the Yamato 1/48 series as much as the 1/55 series. Wait, okay just a little bit more than the 1/55 series :-). I only wish the boxes for the 1/48 would look and feel like the old school Takatoku or Bandai though. Especially, the art works from the Takatoku and Bandai would be great too. So yeah, if you plan to invest in the 1/48 Yamato I say go for it man cuz you won't be disapointed. Ryver U.S. Navy

Thinking about getting this VF-1A H. Ichijo 1/48 Yamato. Its the 1st release. So I was just wondering if I should get it because there has been words on the 1st release that there are some flaws. If so, what exactly are the flaws or discrepancies that makes it bad. Please list the details. Thanks for your help. Ryver U.S. Navy

When painting the canopy, is it best to paint the exterior or the interior of the canaopy?
-
why? I remember we were all having trouble just getting people to recast clear canopies for the 1/55s, why go three steps back? EXO; Well, I kind of like the aburn. To me it adds a touch of definition than the clear one. And it looks plain versus the aburn canopy. I was just imagining what it would be like to do it though. Hehe...Then again its just my opinion though.

Hey guys! Just wanted to see a show of hands of who is going to bring what Macross items (or non-Macross items)to the MWcon5. If so, what are you guys bringing to sell or trade among eachother. Ryver

Has anyone painted the Yamato 1/48 canopy in aburn color like the 1/55 series. If so, would I used the clear-like aburn to give it the see-through effects exactly like the 1/55 series. And what is your opinion on subject in question. Is it a nah or a yeah? Ryver

In my case, I started collecting Macross back in '95. A High School buddy mentioned this import toy store (Kimono My House in Emeryville, CA) and so I was curious and checked it out. Upon my arrival, I was immediately in love with the Macross toys. I saw the following by Takatoku Toys 1/55: 1. VF-1S Super Valkyrie (H. Ichijo) 2. VF-1S Valkyrie (Fokker) 3. VF-1J Valk (H. Ichijo) 4. VF-1J Valk (M. Jenius) 5. VF-1J Valk (Miria) 6. VF-1A Valk (Kakizaki) It all went down hill from there and I became fascinated. I left the store w/ a vintage VF-1S Skull in my hand for $300!! All of this would not have started if I hadn't seen the "Robotech" when I borrowed it from a High School buddy back in '95. Then my addiction grew more and more as the internet became a common tool. I now have the following: 1. VF-1S Strike Valkyrie by Bandai 1/55 (Hi-Metal) X 5. They are all in NEW condition and unplayed/untransformed. I would grade this an over all C-8 to C-9. Two of them still have their instructions and accessories bag sealed. 2. VF-1A Valk 1/55 by Bandai (Hi-Metal) X 2. One is Factory Tape Sealed. And the other is open but in NEW condition and unplayed/untransformed. Over all grade is C-9. 3. VF-1A Valk 1/100 by Bandai. In new condition and unplayed/untransformed. Box is glossy. Over all a C-9. 4. VF-1S Valk 1/48 by Yamato Skull Leader New 5. VF-1S Valk 1/48 by Yamato Ichijo New 6. VF-1A Valk 1/48 by Yamato Jenius New 7. Super/Strike pack 1/48 by Yamato New 8. Two more Macross in transit. The VE-1 Elintseeker and VT-1 Superostrich by Bandai 1/55 '84!!! Just like many of our MWer, i'm addicted too!! Hmmm...this might lead to a Macross Thearpy os some thing like that. Ryver U.S. Navy

Hey, does anyone know how much this is worth?
-
Damn!! I'm speechless...What an amazing work on this LowViz. Anyhow, just a few questions on your custom: 1. Did you used primer? If so, what color primer was used? 2. Can you describe and explain how the "oil technique" is used? 3. What was done to the visor? 4. What type of paint was used (The brand)? 5. What was the name of the color paint used? I must say, your work really inspired me. Got to make one soon!

Thanks Glane21! That's right huh. The Elint Seeker and Super O had the smooth and silky texture compared to the VF-1S Strike Valk. And as you mentioned, perhaps the smooth and silky texture was the later released right long with the Elint Seeker and Super O. Possibly a production shift or something. Anyhow, just thought I advised everyone on my discovery. As for your question about the "What do you mean by Tastsunoko strike box?," its that tiny little gold sticker w/ the picture of a seahorse. This sticker is the Tatsunoko. Also, there's another tiny little blue sticker of "Bigwest." These stickers must be the authentication of the model.

What's up guys! Okay, I have a few questions so i'll address them accordingly: 1.) For close-up pictures, I can't show any because i'm not at home. I'm stationed like in the opposite coast. When I do post the pictures, it probably won't be up until around X-Mas '05 or so. I know, it sucks but staying alert and combating "Terrorism" is a priority at work. But will post them as stated. 2.) From Bobe-Patt, whoa, you have 10 strike valks? Are they all boxed? or just the last one you bought is boxed? Since you have that many strikes, does this mean you have extra parts for those strikes? I'm missing some parts that I need to complete mine. Let me know! Thanx! A.) Yes, I have about 10. Guess you can say i'm obssesed! B.) All boxed, except for one. This one has the box w/ styro only. C.) Yes, in fact I have extra parts. The box w/ styro as mentioned. Oh, let me see: the back-pack, 4 left calf cover w/ prongs, 2 set of leg armor, gun clip.
-
Ahh, yes. Takatoku has a sort fo wriggling worm lookign texture to their boxes, but how do I explain this to the Judge when my other VF-1S Strike Valk has that wriggling texture too. I mean I have like 10 VF-1S Strike Valk 1/55 by Bandai '84, but just my last one came in a box w/ the silky smooth texture with high gloss finish. They both look indentical w/ appropriate year, label, text etc. Besides, I have the original Takatoku too. Strange huh? By the way Solscud007, I can give it to you because its evidences for this discussion.

What's up everyone! Awhile back I won an auction of the Macross VF-1S Strike Valk 1/55 by Bandai '84. Upon scrunity, I learned that the texture of the box is silky smooth, not the commonly ruff texure. Is this normal or manufacturer error? Every thing looks the same except the silky smooth and glossy finish. It just doesn't have the rugged and durable feel though. On the box, it has the "Bigwest" and "Gold colored Tatsunoko" sticker on it too. I don't know? But does anyone have this kind of box for your Strike Valk?

I saw Macross DYRL a while back and I don't remember seeing the jet color for Kakizaki. For example, Fokker is the yellow stripe and Ichijo is the red stripe. So what is the color stripe for Kakizaki's jet. The models shows Kakizaki in green but is it really green? Can someone please confirm. Much appreciation!

It's interesting to hear everyones' unique story on the topic in question. Growing up from my childhood, I had a few old school toys of "Transformers." However, I never had any Macross toys of the 1/55 scale. "Macross" and "Transformers" are my favorite cartoon and their toys. Because I never owned a Macross toys, I don't think I can ever let them go. To me, my Macross toys are my love and joy (sort of speak) and its a part of my childhood too. Like someone mentioned before, this is our generation where we grew up with. So I don't feel the previous or the new generation will ever understand how much these toys mean to us (eventhough its just a toy). For example, my Mother seem to be dismay with my Macross and Transformers collection. And no matter how much I tried to explain to her, she doesn't seem to grasp. I mean, I don't expect anyone to agree with my hobby, but just to understand that it has a degree of value to me right. As for my Macross collection, it all started back when I was in High School. I was a Senior and the year was 1995. And when I first saw the VF-1S Valkyrie 1/55 by Takatoku, it just melt my heart. I was litterally in love or infatuated. At that time, the sticker price was $300- It was alot of money for a vintage Macross toy, but I saved up and bought it anyway. From that point on, i've been collecting nothing but Macross 1/55 and Transformers. Here's what I got as of today: Macross- 1.) VF-1S Strike Valkyrie 1/55 by Bandai X 5 (MIB Unused). 2.) Transformers Reissues No. 0-16 (Japanese book-style cover). So to address the question whether I can depart with my child toy collection: that's a NO. I worked to hard to get where i'm today and to let them go would be a mess. While i'm saving for a home, I plan to display my collection like in a museum.
