Don't I know it. Me, at 0300 on Mandarake last week, seeing another Max 1A pop up.... Unfortunately, that's me once again as I search for another strike parts set or two.

Hahaha! Doesn't feel nice. Still feels like I dropped the soap in prison. But, based on how late in the game I came in, there are definitely people who had to reach farther for the soap than I did, so there's that, I guess. The reality is, without the help of some of the folks on here (yourself included), I would have completely gotten the shaft instead of just the tip.

I just went manic and bought all 4 current variants in the last 3 weeks and paid right around $270 shipped for all except the 1J, which was....more (still hate myself for paying that much). It seemed to me that Mandarake had the best consistent prices but I had to go crackhead with my sleep deprivation while obsessively checking and jumping on them when they became available. There were a couple deals that I'm still pissed at myself for passing on that would have saved me a bunch of money (especially with the 1J), so the "deals" are out there, you just have to search for them and be ready to jump on them when they come up. The members of this forum are also amazing at having great prices when they put theirs up for sale in the For Sale section, so keep an eye on there as well. Just be aware that reasonably priced items go FAST, no matter where they are, so if you want a great decent deal, you have to be prepared to be dedicated/obsessed in finding it. The folks on this thread are very helpful with posting here whenever something pops up, as well. Hope that helps.

In my experience, shipping on items bought on Manarake's website is highly dependent on which location you buy from. Case in point, I've bought a couple DXs from them in the past month. I got a 1J from their Complex/Akihabara location a couple weeks ago (my inner idealist died a little that night) and shipping cost me 7,800. I just recently bought a Max 1A from their Nakano location and shipping was only 4,500. While it's true that the box for the 1J is slightly bigger to account for the stand, the boxes the two toys shipped in were the same size and I'm pretty sure the weight difference was negligible. Both shipped via DHL, which has been very fast....even early...with their deliveries, I might add. I've avoided any items from the Complex/Akihabara site and have been happy with the shipping rates on everything else (strike parts, missile sets, etc).

All these mecha look SO much better, in my opinion, with the panel lines darkened. I really wish these came like that. The Bandai's seem to be a bit deeper than the Yamato 1/48, which make them pop a bit more when they're undone, but, man.....these things are stunning when the panel lines are filled in. Nice job, Lolicon.

Oddly enough, it looks like the tread on the front, reworked ride armor tire is facing the wrong direction while the tread on the rear, yellowed ride armor tire is reversed. I'm guessing whoever assembles these just puts the tread on the same direction and isn't aware of the reverse patterns many motorcycle tires use.....or will use....in the future....on transforming motorcycle body armors....yeah.

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate it. That helps a lot. Anybody happen to know about what time (I'm PST) Mandarake posts new items to their website? They seem to do it at the same time but I haven't been able to nail down the exact time they do it. Also, I know somebody else mentioned this a page or so ago, but if anybody decides they don't need one of their Roy DX preorders, please let me know as I'd definitely be interested. Out of curiosity....anybody know what the shipping on this would come out to? I know it's already sold, but it would be good to know when I'm thinking about buying something, how much I could expect to be paying total. Their website wasn't too clear about what was available or the cost of what could be available.

I'm actually wishing you didn't get the word out as well as you did. If you hadn't, I'd be waiting on a shiny new (to me) 1S DX right now. By the way, thanks to everyone for the help, both information wise and heads up on possible available toys. I really do appreciate it.

Sorry, man. I actually thought I saw it on there for more and the thread I thought I saw it on actually said that they'd already lowered the price, it just wasn't a price I wanted to pay.....could be that I was either looking at a different ad or got two mixed up. Was not in any way trying to bag on a price, whatever I thought it was. I was more annoyed at myself because I stopped looking at a topic for a bit and missed a deal that I would have loved to jump on.

This is what I was worried about and why I refuse to pay crazy amounts for these toys. I'd rather wait and find a good price or not get one at all, sucky as that would be.

Damn! I'd seen that ad up but that is definitely NOT the price that was up when I saw it. That definitely ended up being a great deal. I've subscribed to that topic, but I guess changes to individual threads don't send alerts? If I'd have seen the price had changed to what it did, I would have picked it up for sure.
