    It looks great in high gloss. Try applying a smoke or charcoal grey dry brush on the joints and top coat with satin, joints and black areas only. Finish stark colors like yellow and pink with matte or satin matte. It’s looking great. FYI - I still have to finish the cockpit amongst other details. Not quite close to the finish line.

    For the pearlescent wings try using holographic cellophane. The effect is very striking and all you need to do is create template for the size of the wings you will cut out and apply.

    It could possibly be that the engineers are younger and appreciate an anorexic aesthetic versus or desire of a THICC Valkyrie. Just a thought.

    If Bandai was capable of makes the legs thicker on the YF-21. Why wouldn’t they have just reengineered the legs on VF-17? I get the whole “save money” mantra but this is pure laziness. When have we not purchased high end items? This is Macross, buying expensive toys and related items is all we do. Saving money is not an option. Put out something great…we will buy it without a second thought. C’mon Bandai, you can do a WHOLE LOT BETTER.

    Great, another remake worse than its predecessor. 🫤 Did Bandai just take all the cues from the VF-171 and paint it black. Super pass on the first batch. Waiting for these to hit bargain bins.

    There may have been a specific way in which these were acted but it might be difficult to say for sure. Most MIB examples have items individually wrapped while others have the twin antenna together with shield wrapped separately or some don’t have wrapping at all. Same for the Strike Valkyries. Aside from that the baggies they used were pretty inconsistent in feel, size, mil, and form of sealing. Would be an interesting note for sure. one person who has a very fine set of examples would be @Agent-GHQ. Hopefully his are still undisturbed.

    @sh9000simple yet effective. I went with using vinyl electrical tape in assorted colors. Having purchased a bunch of VF-1S Supers and VF-1A to make these customs tape makes it easy to create customs and keep from damaging paint, parts, or screws. Still your custom is very cool to say the least. The colors appear more than bright enough n the picture, but really are very close to the original paint. Keep those customs coming.
