Just want to provide a quick list of what was performed that you could definitely improve on for your project: - Extended boom tips. - Magnets in booms to close better during cruiser mode. - Extended booms. - Added PE parts for bridge array and PE antennae. - Cut out bridge for glow in the dark effects. - Reversed L to R elbow so screws would hide away cruiser mode. - Cut away elbows to attach via magnets with docks reshaped more like lineart. - A-Stance - Knees - Pivot in feet for side to side angles. - Daedelus and Prometheus reshaped hulls. - Added assimilated safety net poles and antennae with piano wire on Prometheus. - Panel lines Prometheus. - Added PE parts to Prometheus. - Cut and reshaped bridge on Daedelus. - Opened Daedelus hatch for “Daedalus Attack.” - Panel lines Daedelus. - Added glow in the dark effects throughout for dark time lighting. Effects last a few hours. - Custom Removable Yamato Stand Adapter for Fortress/Attack Mode. - Added vinyl decals to cover most of the screw holes. Kept: - Firing mechanisms. - Storage bays. - Landing gear. - Most pf the dimensions. I am pretty sure there were a few other simple mods, but I just don’t recollect them at this time. Hope this helps.

Hi Tekering, Now I remember why I opted for the Takatoku custom look versus the anime look. Everything needs to be highly modified. Many parts are too short, thin, or just plain incorrect. To get that truly awesome anime look, this should have been the first dimensions to begin with. I always noticed that the body was too thin and the chest did not protrude as much as needed and was the main reason why the bridge could never lay all the way back as it should in cruiser mode. Extending just the booms is what gave my custom that perfect balance for all modes so it didn’t feel like it had too much of a forced perspective and the arches and details would not be positioned too far towards the back. Apologies up front if I am being to forward. I am just remembering my thought process from more than ten years ago.

Your customs are really nice. They make my mouth water. I really should customize more.

Still on a NewAge, Magic Square, and Pocket Toys kick. My son and daughter are loving these as they are much easier to handle and transform versus our MP collection. We just received Ratchet, Ironhide, Jazz, Soundwave, Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. The plan is acquire more but given the current state of affairs we will hold off until all this Covid19 issue is resolved and we can buy more comfortably in the future. For now we have plenty to enjoy. Although more items are still in transit to arrive any day now.

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
nightmareB4macross replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
NewAge continues to deliver on mini marvel MP/Anime style 3P TFs. The light shinning off these guys is not an effect. The metal paint finish on the plastic parts shines brightly. Also the metal painted feet are ultra smooth an provide the needed weight to keep these three standing well. Gotta keep buying these as my son and daughter are loving them all.- 9146 replies

Strike a pose, anything goes!

Awesome poses everyone!! I just wanted to add these incredibly impressive set of NewAge Mini MP/Anime Style TF. The engineering, fit, and finish are amazing! -
Pengbuzz, great little build. I built that kit as well and considered making it transformable, but opted not to do so as I think it looks pretty good only in attacker mode. Rogueload, sent you a PM. I want to be sure to respect tekering’s thread and not hijack. Tekering, I like the direction you’re taking. The only thing I noticed is that the inconsistency between modes will become more apparent if you decide to extend the legs in attack mode. In cruiser mode, according to your overlay, the legs would dangle way out too far behind as you have not yet added the extension you planned for them on the toy. Hope that make sense.

You could use flat to begin with an add a clear coat of matte to seal and protect.

I would lightly sand it to remove the roughness left behind by the primer. You could use 2400 grit paper. Anything with a lower grain will gouge your surface.

Try the sing an inexpensive acrylic paint. If you take the head to Micheal’s there is a cheap paint that actually matches. I can’t remember the brand but it is there. I think it cost 1.00. Best way to use it is to prime your parts with light gray. Lightly sand. Thin paint down by water 60 parts and paint 40 parts. Apply thin coats with airbrush or hand brush. It will take about five light coats to achieve your desired color. Don’t apply heavy coats or you will have a ton of runs. Use matte coat to finish. Or you can leave as is if desired. Paint is actually pretty resilient.

Hey Tekering, That is looking pretty awesome. The base toy used is a Takatoku 1/3000 SDF-1. My approach to this was quite different as I used the size of the chest blocks to determine the size I wanted and try and maintain the 1/3000 scale as much possible so it could match the Yamato 1/3000. By using this method I only needed to extend the booms. But I did reshape quite a few parts like the Prometheus and Daedelus hulls. Reworked the elbows to release per TV and lineart capabilities (using magnets and metal parts). Provided an A-stance hip. Added knee joints with 1/55 VF-1 parts. Opened the Daedelus hatch, and added PE parts for the bridge amongst many other custom tweaks. My real goal was to produce a “what if old school modelers during the Takatoku era decided to customize this toy” type of custom. And so I met my goal quite nicely for me and in the process kept the firing mechanisms intact for pew-pew fun. I am really looking forward to another one of your awesome builds! If there is anything I can provide to help I would be happy to do so. Claude - Thank you. I really appreciate you kind acknowledgement.

Excellent color choice!

According to an MW member on here know as Major Tom said this is the prototype color palette that Hikaru was supposed to use. Because the colors did not look “hero” worthy this color combination was passed on and the grayish-white with red accent color combination was used instead. Hope Major Tom can chime in to validate or elaborate further on the story.

Whats Lying on your Workbench MK IV
nightmareB4macross replied to Urashiman's topic in The Workshop!
Working from home does afford some late night building. Time to work on the 1/8000 Zentradi Fleet. The Quedol-Magdomillia should have been printed in two parts instead of one. So, I will be doing some scratch building a bit on these. -
It would be awesome if they got PF treatments. also spotted on their site...they will be releasing the newer Arcadia Display Stand. will the fun never end?!?!

Definite Pass. If they release a VF-1A CF TV or DYRL then I would only purchase that as my last Bandai DX. Two seater might bring me back but seems highly unlikely they will get produced. The fact that Bandai is not addressing this is not giving me the confidence to support them. This is hard for me to state as I really do like purchasing VF-1(s).
