  1. I appreciate your feedback and don’t take your comments as confrontational. We’re all good. This thread is about the “1/55 Revisited” a somewhat official and unofficial history of the mold and what transpired from it. The reason for reminiscing on the pioneers and their championing was to further develop what transpired from the original Takatoku through out history from official through KO manufacturing and how the bridge kept the mold alive through the “dry spell.” This was a time when there were really no options to acquire an official mold without breaking the bank and so your recourse was to either acquire an expensive KO and customize it using various talented artists found here and elsewhere. Believe it or not, at one point a MIB Takatoku could run as high as 3K. A Jetfire could Run from dirt cheap to 1K. And those who wanted options sought out alternatives and that’s part of the history of the “1/55 Revisited.” I for one promote and support those who want to continue and support the mold. At one point I recasted many of the original molds and sold a few here when it was acceptable. I even recasted a VE-1 ElintSeeker Kit in Task3 which is very laborious and time consuming material. And was provided in color and natural. Those who have these kits can attest to their longevity and quality. It was done as a bridge and was never done to derail threads. As previously recommended, new “for sale” threads can be started. But there are other options to create interest as well... Starting your own WIP progress thread and develop a following of your work could promote your work and provide interested parties your a view to your talent, capability, and intent as you take them through your process. If you then see there is plenty of interest, then you can start a “for sale” thread. I am in no ways a mod, and do respect the work involved behind the responsibility. But I also respect others threads and try to maintain the course of the topic as that is the point of the thread. Does it deviate from time to time sure, but it is typically done without intent and then is brought back. This occurs by the actions of mid and yes many times from those who are interested in thread. Thanks for the feedback.
  2. Thanks Jenius.
  3. The item came in a box, in the box was a baggie holding the contents. The baggies was not a channel-lock type (ala Ziplock).
  4. Hot Damn!!! That’s NNNIIIIIICE!!!
  5. Your choice. Thank for sticking to the subject. It is much appreciated.
  6. I get what you guys are hoping to achieve with this, but those who are here are looking for history on the 1/55. Please post a link here and guide interested parties to your sales thread and you can realize your needs there. Let’s try not to inundate this thread with off topic discussion. It really defeats the purpose of what this thread was developed for. Thanks.
  7. Please move this to the for sale thread. I would like to keep this to the corresponding subject matter. Thanks.
  8. There were many greats, back in the day. Jung Chao - Beautiful custom 1/55 repaints. Rob Beers - Recasted Super, Strike, VE-1, VT-1, and a full 1/55 VF-1. Fulcy - The legendary 1/55 hip mods. Rosario Love - 1/55 Super Ostrich customs ad kits. Jason Pi (KidKorrupt) - An Arsenal of amazing. custom 1/55 VF-1. Tony Yao (xstoys) - Just insane engineering of the 1/55 Vf-1D. There were also a ton of great sites back in the days. Do You Remember...Valkyrie Hangar, VF1X, geocities sites. Valkyrie Dream Flight, and much more.
  9. Cool. The first set has the old white decals you would wrap around the red nosecone of Jetfire so you wouldn’t have to repaint. I think the decal makers of that time circa 2000 were, Jung Chao (aka: Jung), Jerry Tsai (aka: vf1x), Eric Mabrich (aka: Takatoys), and IIRC Jeremy (?) (aka: Skull Leader). Skull Leader was the creator of many incredible customs like the Max & Milia Marriage Set, Max & Kakyzky Vermillion Set, And Evil Jetfire. It was a group called AlphaTeam11. He would even provide signed COAs to guarantee the work and origin of the custom. I wonder how many are still out there to this day? Also there was another member, Rosario Love (aka: Rosario and then Redemption), I believe he made stickers as well. But only for an amazing Super Ostrich resin kit he used to provide. He was the creator of Valkyrie Dream Flight.
  10. Would you be interested in selling it as displayed in your picture?
  11. He did. He produced the SDF-1, Destroid Coversion Kit, and several other custom stickers. I wish I new who started the original decal sets for the VF-1S Super Valkyrie. It is a set of decals that captured the look of the blackout panel on the cockpit just like the custom found on the Takatoku VF-1S Super Valkyrie box panel on the back. Anyone know?
  12. It was in a baggie just like these.
  13. I think the was Erik Mabrich, aka: Takatoys. He was also responsible for the highly detailed VF-1 Nosecone with hinged canopy.
  14. VF-1D head was Chris Barretta. VF-1A DYRL type head came from Rob Beers. Wasn’t the originally reinforced GBP made by Rob Beers as well? I need a copy of this armor for my museum.
  15. There is a great KO from the 90’ based off the 1984 StrikeValkyrie VF-1S with 1990 SuperValkyrie VF-1S (the ugly one) and makes a pretty damn good stand in for the Movie color Strike Parts. There is a white and grey (pictured here) version of this available.
  16. Looking good!
  17. Not at all. I could be off on timing and might be a year ago or so. I appreciate you looking for it. Let me just continue to kick myself.
  18. I wouldn’t put past that perm-banned mod. If he didn’t plagerize or figure it out first then he feels it’s not real. Interesting. I will have to try this and if it works great if not we’ll then you got pretty lucky with some assemblyman being a bit stingy with glue.
  19. Same here. But I just can’t justify it for all the real estate play space it would eat up. Who knows maybe I’ll change my mind later on.
  20. One of my favorites. I am so happy to be a proud owner of this fantastic VTOL Jet. GI Joe from 1982 thru 1986 had some of the best vehicles, playsets, and figures. Now Inhave to break out the Terrordrome and GI Joe HQ so my son and I can war!! Yo Joe! Cobra!!!!!
  21. Wow! Great custom work!
  22. Well due to my trial and error method and OCD to get the perfect color I have two 48 x 30 inch shelves of rattle cans for any occasion set up as “Wh, Gr, Mtl, Blk, R, O, Y, G, B, I, V, Clr, Ntrl, and Misc” for tack sprays and other finishes. Here are my “Reds” Or “R.” Nice Strike packs on that low viz.
  23. I usually go to the auto parts store for paint matching first. Usually the cheaper selection of rattle cans may have the color that matches the M&Ms pretty well. If you want take your valk to a parts store and look for cheaper paints. They newer better paints have a brighter hue that just doesn’t work. Buy a few colors that could match and then spray them on a primed plastic card to get an idea of the final color. Don’t forget to buy a satin top coat to protect and preserve your work. Spray light. And always remember prep is key if you start right your results will be top notch and last for years to come.
  24. It could be that previous owners pulled the back plate away and wore out the two teeth that hold the chest and back plate together. You could rebuild the teeth by layering “Crazy Glue.” It takes time but it will increase the size of the teeth and hold better. Remember when transforming these 1/55, you always have to open the trap door on the back plate and press the retainer down to free it. Forcing it open always wears out the teeth prematurely. Hope this helps.
