  1. Here's what I found. Based on the title craft from Gerry Anderson's STARCRUISER story concept, as featured in "Look-In" magazine during the late 1970s. Airfix marketed a snap-together kit titled "Starcruiser 1" (No. 07170-9). Box artwork showed the craft in space with its engines firing. Kit was done in white styrene with clear windows and canopy. The assembled model may be separated into four independent units. The model was originally conceived as a die cast toy, but the manufacturing process presented many technical problems and though the prototype (displayed in the Blackpool exhibition for some years) was used for reference, inevitably many parts had to be changed to suit die casting requirements When the toy reverted to a model kit, these changes were transferred. Two crewmen are included, though interior detail is limited, but the instruction sheet is excellent with "Typical Mission Sequence" art and detailed background information concerning the craft. Also by Airfix is a snap-together, 1/32nd scale, kit of the STARCRUISER INTERCEPTOR (No.05174-5). Quality is high Especially noteworthy is the sheet of rub-on markings, a considerable improvement over adhesive paper ones. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With a few exceptions, models described in this article have long been out of production. Many of those which were made were marketed in limited areas of the world, inaccessible to many in Anderson fandom. None of the kits listed, and with which I am familiar, are 100% accurate representations.
  2. Oops, sorry. I think your right Exo, there are no differences between the two.
  3. Tons of difference...mainly the build quality. Gakken's are far more sturdy that the Toymani Alphas. Does anyone have any side-by-side pics?
  4. Hey Blaine, That's what I have going right now...the one room method. We have the items we collect together in one room of the house, and my mecha items are proudly displayed in another room of the house where I do customs and models. I understand my wifes concerns, in part it is because she is a purist and likes to keep the common collection morbid, that is why the room is called "the Nightmare Room". My own collection has plenty of room to thrive at my discretion and she occassionally asks how my guys are doing, which in turn let's me know she accepts there existence. Yang, why not try this method?
  5. Jolly Rogers, How about some pics?
  6. Jasonc Well spoken. That really only applies to GF status. Having a wife (soul-mate) is a whole different ballgame. Kudos!
  7. There is nothing to give up, just try to make her understand this is a big part of you and is what makes you whole. If she can't accept that then I would say you really have to think long and hard if this is the woman for you. As time progresses, it will either get worse or better, depending on what you decide and not what she decides. Make a stand, but always compromise. Remember you have to be able to sway, just DON'T BREAK!
  8. Yang, Compromise is the number one priority to any relationship. Believe me, my wife was a bit concerned when I rekindled my spark for collecting Macross. She was a bit worried it would change our common likes (other collecting habits). At first I went crazy and bought just about everything Macross in the 1/55, 1/60, 1/48 scales, which upset her. Then I proudly displayed them up in our "Nightmare Room" and she just frowned with having to see so many robots about the room. She asked me when it was all going to stop and I explained to her my resurged interest. Being that I grew up pretty much poor in Los Angeles, and was not really able to afford all the cool Taka items during my childhood. She began to understand that I never had much as a kid and now that I am an adult (I think) I am able to purchase these wonderful critters with ease. Being that she had been pretty much catered to as a child she did not really understand what I meant until she saw how trully devoted I was to my cause of living my childhood dream. In time she accepted my collection, eventhough it mostly resides out of site in a seprate part the house called the "Dungeon". Still, we compromised in the sense that she understood what it meant to me but, on occassion she does purchase a valkyrie for me every now and then. My wife is wonderful, I trully am lucky.
  9. ...An a paintchip on my Valkyrie!
  10. The only thing these grey and supposed Optimus Prime valkyries are good for is knee joints for the 1/55. I made a knee mod using the elbows on these and they work great. I think they are a cross between the 1/100 bootleg and the 1990 bandai super, only it was done as a 1/72 (I think). In the toy district of LA you can get tons of these for little to no money. Buyer beware, these are extremely crappy toys!!! But are perfect for the little valkaholics in training. NB4M.
  11. Hey DT and AO, Constructive feedback is greatly appreciated! Honestly though, if your main intent is to constructively critisize to make things better, then you failed. Why ask for the site to be shut down? Make suggestions instead, offer help, or just DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING. Build, customize, take on a new endeavor that is Macross based. No one is making anyone sound like anything, you do that on your own. I'm sure when the administration has time to play catch up, they will. Ease Up, It's Going To Be OK. NB4M
  12. Hurin, You hit the nail right on the head! NB4M ***What happened to your arm? Is that what happens when you suggest the site should be shut down?
  13. Hey, I've seen that before! I saw it a Big Lou's Collectibles. I can't remember the price, but it's pretty cool.
  14. AgentOne, I wouldn't say the admin does not care about this site. It is more about keeping your priorities in order. *Graham - Just had a little Graham *Shawn - Not sure, but he has his reasons. That is good enough for me. Also, If Shawn did not care about the site, he could have easily terminated this site at his own discretion at any time he wishes. People have other things to do as well, besides MW. If Graham says Shawn will return in late December, let's just wait and see what happens. Also, if Graham needs time with the new addition, so be it. All in all, it is their site. NB4M,
  15. Duke, One more thing, it is Shawn's site to do as he sees fit. SHAWN & GRAHAM...Where do I send my subscription to this site? NB4M ***HOW THE HELL CAN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING FREE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU BENEFIT FROM IT? UNF***ING, BELIEVABLE.
  16. Duke, Like I said before, it is still a great site for referencing. Many people who come across this site learn tons of new things, meet new members, begin friendships, discuss their common likes and dislikes pertaining to Macross. Once in a while, we do tend to hit a drought, but just because it is dry it does not mean there will always be a drought. Think of the days when nothing new was really being produced, times were slow, all you would do is search forum, after forum to look for that rare item that not one person really knew about. But here you can ask and get a response to most anyting Macross, (ei: wwwwmmwwww or Blackaces, those guys know about true obscure items. Eventhough you think there is nothing new to speak of, there always is. For instance: 1/48 GBP, Customs, Rare Resin Kits, WF Events and Pieces, etc...and tons of other stuff. Don't think that just because the site is not updated it means that it should be put out of it's misery. On the contrary, lend a hand stop your bitchin'. If you are helping with this site, than more than anyone here you have a reason to complain. But if not, then just say shad-up and offer yourself as means to a solution and not a factor of the problem. Plus, many of us have lives to tend to and must continue to live outside of MacrossWorld. Think about it... NB4M ***TO ALL MW MEMBERS: I appreciate the hardwork and dedication of all who participate here. Thanks.
  17. Majestic, If that is your first airbrush custom, I can't hardly wait to see what you submit in the future. Excellent Job!!! NB4M What is your set up like?
  18. While it may be true, this site does go through some stagnant stages, it does not mean it should be shut down. There is so much reference data here that it would be a sin to remove it all. Not to mention all the hard work and effort of Shawn & Graham, the fans, the customizers, the modelers, the lookie-loos, Duke Togo and so on...to make this possible and available to everyone out there to enjoy. Think about it, would you really want to loose this place? I for one would not. NB4M
  19. Awesome Collection!!! I wish I had at least one of those M-Club Strike Valkyries. (sigh) NB4M
  20. Roy is still the GREATEST ever!! I like the way he is inviting the pod in front for a fight, while he is ready to pull the trigger on the officer behind him. Sweet!!!
  21. Those deleter dolls are an excellent source for the basis of your kits, would you also consider an SDF-1 Version? Oh by the way, a bit off topic, but your gals better watch out for this guy, he is the one in the first picture furthest to the right. NB4M
  22. ROBOTECH = Really Obsessive Buyers Or Typical E-bay Crap Hoarding. MACROSS = MACROSS. 'nuff said, NB4M
