What if someone was to contact HLJ and place a large group buy order for replacement shoulders? I'm in for this. Also, I know some of you would rather have original replacements than my recasts, but they are still going to become available should the Yammie replacement become difficult to obtain. Still working on the color match. I keep getting lighter then darker renditions of the color. The first is still holding strong. I'm almost there.

Looks like it going to be released with wing armaments.

Anyone attempt a VF-0S with a 1/48 VF-1S head?
nightmareB4macross replied to bravo5's topic in The Workshop!
Looks weird. The gerwalk reminds me of the Taka/Bandai 1/55s. The head sat really low and not tucked into the fuselage. Nice attempt, but change it back. -
***HERE'S WHAT I TRIED AND DISCOVERED:
-
Only working on the upper arms. The donor VF-0A I recieved has been repaired, at the elbow, with remarkably great success. The break was caused due to improper handling by the owner. Sorry, Kirith, there's no other way to say this. The upper arms are still holding strong. I'm still trying to get the color match right. I won't be supplying the rubber cap inside. Again, the problem is not caused by the actual shoulder, but the seem line on the shoulder ball joint. Color matching is such a pain. AAARRGHHHH!!!!
-
It's not really the shoulder that's causing the problem. It's the shoulder ball-joint with the large parting line. I don't know if it was intended to be this way, but I can, without a doubt, say this is the actual piece at fault. If the parting line was flush with the ball joint, you would only have to increase the size of the rubber cap located in the shoulder. It would make a tight and uniform fit. The way it works now is, the parting line causes the circular cavity in the arm to expand and attempt to accomodate by stretching...then viola, you either get stress marks or broken shoulders.

I'm testing the strength of the resin. It seems to be holding fine, so far. Only time will tell. But what worries me is getting this grey color right. It's a special blend. I'm still working on it.

I love GI Joe and all, but these don't look so nice. What's up with Stormshadow wearing flip-flops, Duke with the out of propotion limbs and extremities, and Scarlett with beyond skinny torso and knees? I'll have to pass on these.

I wish my waife was here to see this. She really wants me to buy this. Hopefully, she'll allow me to buy a few of Ivanov's and Nora's versions. ***Edit: Looks like it won't need a stand afterall.

I wouldn't say the scale, just the size. If they were promoting the 1/60 scale, Yamato would have not mentioned anything about more 1/48 re-issues or repaints.
-
Smaller doesn't always mean cheaper. In order for these to be worth what Yamato wants for these they would have to come with some heavy articulation, opening hatches, cockpits, missles, pilot, removable armour, and some very nice detailaing. 1/48 is really the way to go. This would keep in line with the size that Yamato is currently promoting and not necessarily the 1/60 scale.

Still waiting for warmer weather. The parts are set and ready to create the molds. My material is pretty cold and not as viscous as it should be. I've tried two other pours and they came out terrible. Come on, warmer days! Come on!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS.............. Among others: 1. The General with bash-your-face-into-a-bloody-pulp-action. This would be a set with his counterpart. 2. The General with the half Joker grin. 3. The little girl in her dark green, Alice in Wonderland outfit. 4. The root. 5. The stick insect. 6. The Toad. I really like the characters. Pan is very intruiging to look at.

I'm very familiar with Rob's stuff. I still have a few of his 1J heads. Really great stuff. I think you missed my point about accuracy and longer head lasers. If you want them accurate you would do them to precisely to scale. But if you just make them accurate, but longer, well then they wouldn't be accurate. It's one or the other. Producing the head lasers in rubber is just a another world of trouble. Resin is a fine medium and must be treated as such, without over exerting its limitations.

No, the pegs on the shiel will tweak the alignment of the arms. Thus, resulting in a crooked mounted gunpod. There are several things than need to be done to make this work properly. The shield's right arm peg needs to be shave from the rear, while the mounting pegs on the arms both need to be reshaped. And lastly, the cavity where the gunpod rests needs to be opened a bit more from the rear of the right arm. It's not as much work as it sounds, but it will allow you to mount the gun on either arm without resulting Peyronis' disease.
-
Longer or (more?) accurate? You can't have both. If these were to be done in resin, just like plastic, it has it's limitations.

This has to be on e of the best movies this year. I hope some toy company out there, namely Medicom or Jun Planning, pick up the license to make these characters into figures. They would be awesome!!!

Well at least the cars are made by a well known car customizer. Barris Kustoms. -

This reminds me of M.A.S.K (Mobile Armoured Strike Kommand). Only this is live action. -
It seems very likely now that Version 3 of the GBP-1S is soon to hit the street. The colors and style selected are definitely Enigma worthy. And a valkyrie of the same scheme would be awsome.

How can you not like the battroid (pope) mode??? Chicks DIG IT!!! My wife actually said, I should buy it (maybe more), if Yamato ever makes it. She thinks it's one of the most sinister and menacing designs ever offered by a mecha toy company. And my wife doesn't like robots or mecha of any kind. That right there says a lot!
-
It's still in works. There have to be a lot of alterations done before this can happen.

They might actually be reading all our posts, but you know that ignorance is sometimes bliss.

WOW Only one thing looks off on this. The rear section that connects to the Macross, seems slighlty misaligned. It might be the pictures playing tricks on me (mainly the pics displaying the hull up). Excellent job. Now on to details!!!

You really should get at least one to see if you like it. Then of course, you will buy a set, or series. I'm not saying there great, but you can't go wrong with the size and fun factor.
