Good point. Hell, Supes has been in live action far too many times. I like Supes, but some other hero needs to take a shot in the (live action) spotlight that hasn't been re-done to death.

Since that page didn't seem to have what "V" stood for, I'll post it here. "V" became the Navy/USMC designation for fixed wing aircraft. (They couldn't use "F" or "FW" because it would probably cause confusion, especially since "F" was already taken!) The other letters (again from the site) designated what type of A/C (i.e. F = Fighter, A = Attack). Very true. Just FYI, the real VF-1 wasn't featured in "Top Gun." At least not its insignia. The insignia in the movie was from a propeller driven E-2 Hawkeye squadron! Unfortunately, the real VF-1 Wolfpack flew into the sunset eleven years ago during the Drawdown of the nineties.

(In regards to the Tomcat and Intruder. . .) Great pics of GRUMMAN birds at a BOEING site!

Thanks for posting the pic! I remember the Mospeada (and for that matter, all the anime toys) sold here stateside had all firing mechanisms removed from the weapons at the time (mid 80's. I guess toy companies were still in the wake of the Battlestar Galactica Viper toy that killed a four-year-old when he fired a projectile into his mouth a few years back) whether they were in a "Robotech" box or original Japanese line box. I had that Mospeada 21 Bike. Me and my brother took apart some of the weapons and saw space for a spring and other related firing mechanism components. I think the projectiles were glued permaneantly in their "chambers" if I remember correctly.

Looks like Anne Marie Martin (or Eddie Benton as she was known until 1981) still looks good!

I'm bummed now! I love his movie themes (my personal fave is Star Trek: First Contact) He will be sorely missed.

AAAAAA************!!!!!! You got me drooling on this one! 1/350 scale? Big for a starship? Anyways that'll go well with my Tamiya (contemporary days) Enterprise. -
Brent Spiner to guest on Enterprise
USMCBebop replied to bandit29's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's why the timeline has been distorted, because all of the Enterprises keep traveling in time! Otherwise the tech in the new show wouldn't seem so advanced than Kirk's crew and the Klingons wouldn't have the turtle shell foreheads! Yeah, the new Star Trek show, bombs. I tried to get into the action of the last season from the season premeire, but I drifted away. I'm a big Trek fan, but I'll admit, it's running its course now. -
Thank you, I was going to ask whether in the original series and DYRL if they use Naval ranks or Marine Corps/Army/Air Force ranks. The DYRL DVD that I possess, the ones doing the subtitling in English use Naval ranks. Maybe they [subtitlers] were going off this chart: And assumed that since they're on a ship, it was the Naval side of ranks.

What is that resin or plastic? (I ask if it's resin because that's the usual color of most resin kits I've seen.) Looks nice, too.

Hey, that's not politically correct! Whatever! In the nineties, that USN squadron and one USMC squadron (F/A-18) had to drop the playboy bunny because of PC (BOOOOOO!) especially after 1991. I think Vandy A/C has just recently started painting the playboy bunny on her tomcats again .

I seriously need to get back into the hobby!

Damn! Really breathtaking model! I haven't built a model in six years and seeing these new Macross releases (new to me anyways!) makes me want to get back into the hobby!

Jolly Rogers Super Hornets, pics!

No problem! -
Thanks. I don't mind 1/72. It's just that for years, all I've been seeing is 1/72 Valkyries by Arii, Bandai and (with of course the same molds as the previous two) Revell. I built them when I was young. I only heard of the great Hasegawa kits last year. I like the idea of building the Valk's with the flaps deployed too. One of these days. . . I bet that resin 1/48 Valk must cost an arm and a leg!
-
dyowelb I took a look at it again, GOSHDARN! I can't get over what I'm seeing there!
-
Well I was hoping for injection molded, but YOU GOT ME DROOLING on what I saw in the link you gave! Thanks!

Maybe I missed something (or missed IT if and when it came out), but how come I haven't seen a 1/48 scale Valkyrie model kit out there? Sure there are great 1/48 "toys" like the one in the photo below. But what about something we can build? (Transformable or not, I don't care.) What do you all think? (Or again, did I miss the coming of some great 1/48 scale kit in the last 22 years?) 148VF1AH_f2.jpe

Jolly Rogers Super Hornets, pics!
USMCBebop replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
To black tail or not to black tail. Hell, I remember back in '92 when the VF-31 Tomcatters first came to Miramar, the pilots told me that some admiral didn't even like black lettering on gray air planes. Someone said the gray tactical camo is practical and that's a no s****er (for combat anyways). But "When in Rome" show off those colors! -

FYI It's Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17). Not the "17th Wing" (someone would think that's Air Force). -
Yeah, even as a fourteen year watching the movie when it first came out, I was stumped at that, too. But I figure he [Jester] meant the A-4 was fast at maneuverability. What do you think? I know if the Tomcat and the Scooter were in an air race, there's no doubt who would win.
