That's pretty cool, but I think he looks fat in ride armor mode.
-
Okay, just making everyone aware that pulling the toes forward on mine definitely stressed the thin plastic sides of the slide joint. There are now white stress marks visible, so be careful. It also didn't really help the balance at all on mine (or at least from what I could tell).
-
I think it'll probably run around $60. If you consider how things have gone, you have to assume that Beagle is watching and reading the responses of the Mospeada fans. Most fans think that $60 is about the right price for Ride Armors, so they may be trying to completely take over the market by debuting a nice, well built, affordable toy. Honestly, how many people wouldn't get one for that price assuming there aren't glaring QC issues.

Anyone know what the scans in the Kaiyodo Revoltech thread says about the Gurren Lagann figures and the drill bits/wings version?
-
I'm an experienced model builder and I hated these kits with a passion. They are very flimsy (or at least the original ones were, don't know about the re-issues). Mine fell apart all the time and the bike was floppy and loose. I wouldn't spend money on these. Also know that these are glue kits, so unless you feel comfortable with glue, then don't get them. The old ones I have aren't molded in correct shades/colors either, so painting is pretty much required.
-
Anyone wanna translate the major points of those scans for us that can't read them? I really want to know about the Gurren Lagann with the drills and wings (whether it's a second version coming out or just an upgrade set). And that Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann isn't painted yet, correct?
-
Let's all hope that Beagle put a little bit of time into the QC of these toys. Bad QC issues on such a nice looking representation of a cyclone would suck...
-
Okay, so what's the breakage count so far on the MH ones? I really only remember reading two main people having issues out of all the people that got them.
-
Wow, that's almost scary timing. I hope the dollar does regain some ground on the Yen...
-
Just a thought, why is the Yen suddenly leaping so high compared to the US dollar? I just went to pay for the Starscream and Rodimus Revoltech's and decided to hold off a few days b/c the yn was only 97 to the dollar. That's a horrible exchange rate.

But really, it wasn't Toynami's screw up, it was BBTS's screw up (and from what I understand they generally honor their pre-order prices when they mess up). It clearly states in the e-mail Joel sent everyone that the catalog had "$79.99 minimum". BBTS just assumed minimum meant exactly and popped them up as quickly as possible to draw pre-orders. They took a risk and now are saying they want no share of the blame for the screw up and pre-order customers don't even get a small discount for their mistake to make up for it. Even if I buy a Beta, it sure as hell won't be from BBTS unless they are cheaper or offer pre-order customers a discount of some kind. In all honesty, I still think the toy isn't worth more than $100 MAX, especially if Toynami goes the smart route and makes most of it hollow (b/c who really wants really heavy parts that serve no purpose other than to stress joints???).
-
By the same respect, BBTS posted the price knowing it could be wrong as it was the "minimum" price, but failed to tell customers that information until after they changed the price. Also, there isn't any reason the Beta couldn't have been $80 other than Toynami wanting to milk the cash cow. I honestly thought Toynami figured out how to sell a ton of them for a decent price instead of over-charging. And again, I think BBTS and Toynami should "meet in the middle" to come up with a price for pre-order customers that ordered for the incorrect price. So, which sellers will probably have the lowest cost Beta? I'd be interested in finding one as cheap as possible. Thanks in advance.
-
B/c BBTS knew the price might not be $79.99 but put that out as quickly as possible to draw as much business as possible. If you read BBTS's reply, it says $79.99 minimum, which means that's the cheapest. They didn't even note this on their page. I actually suggested to them that they may want to contact Toynami and see if they can come to some kind of agreement on an in-between price for pre-order customers since it's kind of both BBTS's and Toynami's faults. That way, neither company should lose any money, but neither will make a substantial profit off the pre-orders so far. That way, they both take responsibility for a mistake in judgement/business.
-
I actually e-mailed BBTS saying pretty much the same thing. We'll see if they do anything about it b/c it's BS that they changed the price, even if it was only partially their fault. I think a store takes a chance when they assume the price is something instead of inquiring first. BBTS just wanted to put out the pre-order first to get as many people as possible. If the price changes, then they should have to eat the cost difference for putting it out before the price was finalized...
-
Correction as of today...the Beta will be an overpriced POS toy. j/k Anyway, I feel your pain with hating Toynami. Everything they put out has silly QC issues that could have easily been fixed but weren't.
-
Yep, cancelled mine too. Toynami can say whatever they want, but that toy shouldn't be more than $100 at the most. It lacks elements to justify a higher cost (complexity, guaranteed QC issues, etc). Maybe they really will see how many people cancel their pre-orders and decide to make it reasonably priced.
-
I won't get one for that much. And even if Toynami is saying that it's going to be $150, we may end up seeing $80 b/c the guy said that Toynami doesn't know the price and told businesses in a printed document that it would be $80, now a word of mouth person from Toynami says that's wrong. In reality, even Toynami doesn't know how much it's gonna cost, so until the official price hike, I'll keep my pre-order (and complain to BBTS after that for listing it this early and then hiking the price that much to see what they'll do about it since their policy is "keep the pre-order price" for most items b/c maybe they'll sell them almost at cost to pre-order customers). I will not pay $150 for something I know will have problems right out of the box.

Beagle prototype looks okay. The top half is nice, but the legs are too dang skinny. They'd be good legs for Hoquet, but not for the guys. They need to beef them up before release (and it's not like beefing up the legs would cause problems with transformation).
-
I agree. Thinking about it, the toy likely has very few "complex" parts. The transformation scheme isn't that complex. The toy is most likely going to be hollow for the most part with few diecast parts, which it doesn't need b/c it'll have a hard enough time with weight stressed joints as is. The only reason the Alpha was expensive was because it was complex and full of diecast. If they did that with the Beta, it wouldn't be able to hold a pose with those tiny joints. I also think BBTS is still a bunch of ***** for not honoring their mistake if it comes down to it. Any clue about what Twin Moons Anime's policy is on that kind of thing??? And if BBTS does post a pre-order early without any VALID pricing info simply b/c they want people to jump on their pre-order band wagon, then they should eat the cost for any difference b/c they lied to their customers.
-
I want to know this too (the Twin Moons Anime part)!
-
Warning! Possibly go buy a sweater b/c hell might just freeze over in April... http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail Now if I can find somewhere to buy the Max one separate...
-
Been a long time since I pre-ordered from them. I forget, do they always honor pre-order prices or can they change them now? Also, I think the Beta looks GREAT, and for $80, I don't care if it has some QC issues, it's a dream come true at a fairly cheap price. Also, the Toynami Ride Armor looks pretty cool too, it's just a matter of how much of a perfect transformation it is and how many QC issues/annoying things are wrong with it. If not much is wrong with it, it'll probably be bought by me at least. I want those fast packs dang-it, but I only want Max's, so I guess I'll have to ebay it or find someone who's selling them separate.
-
You may want to contact HLJ customer service, they may be able to help you contact the company about the missing piece.
-
I don't remember them being boxed. I also don't remember ever seeing the Toynami version of the GBP armor before these photos.
-
Hmm...the more I think about it, the more I'm fairly certain that nobody could have any type of legitimate information b/c not even Toynami knows when they'll release these...
