Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.
protostar8 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If you guys were talking about Gundam Battle Universe, it comes out the 17th (this Thursday). -
Well, I was about right on finding them about $5 cheaper than what I paid if I waited (isn't that how things go though....if you don't wait you'll find it cheaper soon after but when you do wait the price will only go up). If anyone wants to get a set of the armors by themselves, this guy has them pretty cheap ($18.40 shipped w/ insurance, $4.25 cheaper than what I paid). I've bought stuff from him before and never had problems. Heh, it's kind of comical how I always seem to turn up stuff cheaper after I order it... http://cgi.ebay.com/ROBOTECH-MACROSS-VF-1J...1QQcmdZViewItem I kinda want to make a set of Super Ostrich and Elintseeker in Max's colors for mine...anyone seen any customs of these armors yet for the Toynami 1/100's?

Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP.

My PSP is an old Phat PSP. I've actually thought about buying the little d-pad to thumbstick custom set I've seen from time to time that makes the d-pad into another thumbstick wtih a simple thing that slides over the top of the buttons for improved comfort. Either way, the game will be fun and I'll put up with the sore fingers b/c it's the Gundam Battle team making the thing and the Gundam Battle games are pretty fun (event he demo for the one that releases on the 17th is really fun and it's only two levels and you're forced to use the d-pad to move....or else I just couldn't figure out how to change the controls which is very possible). -

So 30 pilots, 40 valkyries....has anyone confirmed how many "different" valkyries will be present. In other words, how many of the 40 are simply skins or minor differences like heads? Oh, and for all those wanting to hear certain pieces of music in the game, there are ways to do that if you have a modded psp and the game files if you have enough skill (I don't, but I've read where people have custom music in their games or where people actually take out music to make the game size smaller for putting more games on a memory card). And I just read that transformation will handled with the analog stick, meaning that maneuvering will have to be done with the d-pad......I hope they have an option to invert that b/c it'd make so much more sense to use the d-pad for mode change and the analog stick for MOVEMENT as that's what it's there for. After playing Katamari for 20 minutes using the d-pad, my fingers on that side of the PSP hurt, so I really hate using the d-pad for extended periods. -
My point is that this seems very much like a knock-off of something that already happened on the show and is very cliche. Deaths are being so over-used in the anime industry that to me, they've lost their original value and now just kinda tick me off. From season one, I'd say that Shirley was the love interest. She was his sole link to real life, and had she survived until the end, could have been the one to pull him back to reality and out of a possibly endless life of misery as Zero. But that can't happen now and there aren't really any other girls to fit that role now that she's been killed off. Unless of course she's brought back later on b/c something about the "Don't Die" command makes me wonder if she's really going to stay dead. I mean, for all we know one of the little Geass people may have some sort of "healing" geass or something with the way this show goes. Either way, I don't think Shirley had to die, heck, she could have just been nearly killed and went into a coma like state (so she could appear at the end of the show out of the blue) and the effect would have been almost the same.
-
You know, I honestly get tired of the cliche deaths. A death can be meaningful, but when they start getting rid of characters b/c they aren't going to be used anymore, they don't have to kill them. They could actually try being creative and come up with ways to get them out of the show for awhile, like maybe having Shirley be captured by the knight of one or something and that would make for a pretty climactic final few episodes and let Lelouch's love story continue instead of being a knock off of last season's Euphie death. This episode made me lose respect and some interest in the show, kinda like the episode of Death Note where L dies. IMO, I think it'll be much more boring now. Overall, I give this episode a 2 out of 10 b/c the writers in Japan have gotten in the trend of killing everyone b/c it's more meaningful...

Well, I live in GA and it cost me $22.55 shipped for a Max armor set from Kirin Anime. In the end, I decided not to argue over the $5 I might be able to save if I waited for other sellers, but I still think it was expensive due to high shipping and handling and insurance.
-
Okay, but do you actually have the movie set in hand or does their website just say it's in the set still? I haven't seen anyone mention having this set and most retailers have changed their websites saying that it's only a set of 3 now instead of that set of 4. BBTS can be really bad about changing info on toy, especially images.
-
So, talking about Megahouse and Toynami, would it be cheaper to order Yellow's cyclone from Japan or buy from a shop selling the Toynami release? Just saw the CM yellow....still looks like a cheap toy and I don't think it'll be worth more than $20.
-
BBTS is slow to update. Toynami didn't release the movie fast packs, so that's why the other retailers are saying 3. Which means the set of 3 should be $30 plus $7-12 shipping depending on the retailer. That's why I'm having a little bit of a mental problem paying $22 for a singer one shipped.
-
So, are these Fast Packs worth $22 or should I keep looking? That's how much it'd cost me to get the Max set from someone and that's almost more than I paid for the figure! The set was actually under $13, but the shipping is $9, so I'm debating just waiting it out to try to find a cheaper price b/c that seems pretty high considering the set of 3 from TMPanime is only $27 before shipping. Heck, I've thought about buying a set of 3 from them and selling the other two packs (Ichigo and Milia) if I knew two people that wanted them for sure.
-
Which doesn't seem like high quality ABS either b/c of things like the shoulder joint (on mine at least) being broken right out of the box.
-
http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...st&p=565068 Looking at that old photo, at least something has fast packs...
-
I still want a Max Weapon Set in case anyone has an extra one they don't want or need.

So, a person could just about buy 3 model kits for the price of one of the toys. Neither come with armor, though the toy might have an add-on armor set later. Hmmm....but the model kits will likely have kit-bashed or custom made armor unless armored versions are released.... Decisions are hard to make sometimes, but I gotta say I'm leaning towards the models on this one. Any real reason the toys would be better (other than the slight size difference)? And Image Anime is and has been overpriced in my opinion. I can probably get the kit shipped for the same price as their pre-shipped price. Definitely cheaper than their $60 price.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
protostar8 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That looks like a resin model. Resin models aren't exactly known for being great indicators of the final product. This is Bandai we're talking about here, they know how to make great model kits. I'd really be shocked if the model ended up being as floppy looking as the resin one they are showing. To me, I don't think it looks all that bad and it will probably cost 1/3-1/2 of what the toy will cost, so I think it'll be a good end product for what I expect the price to be. So has it been confirmed that there are going to be some non-transforming models too (not that I'm interested in them, just curious)? -

So, will the models have attachable armor at some point or is that for the toys only? Also, is the transformation going to be some parts swapping or will they be "perfect" more or less? -
Son of a $&*%%*---my ebay account was hacked!
protostar8 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Hey, I had the same thing happen about 2 years ago. It occured during a time when I hadn't accessed my account in about a month (and the hacker somehow mysteriously figured out my password, which would have been really hard). I honestly think Ebay isn't secure and has inside leaks. Either way, they restored my account too after a lengthy live help session. Just for your knowledge, the person was sending spam from my account in various languages too, so it might be the same group that got mine. -
I don't think detachable armor would be that hard to make (how many thousands of other toys have detachable armor or pieces). So I just don't see that happening on any toy that Bandai produces other than a model kit (I know some of the gundam kits that have armor don't transform like the FAZZ kit). Even the cheap Banpresto toys had removable armor and I think the one I bought was under $10, so if it can be done on a $10 toy, there's no excuse why a more expensive one couldn't have detachable armor.
-
That's kind of disappointing that a Bandai product will possibly be very expensive. I was hoping to be able to get one for less than $100, but now I'm guessing it will be more than that. Though I'd gladly settle for a non-perfect transformation palm sized one.
-
Umm...Original MP Starscream was awesomer! I really just hope the 1/60's turn out well. Might be the first semi-expensive Macross toys I've bought in years. I really like the look of the fighters, especially with the armors. I haven't visited the thread in awhile, so what price range are we looking at on these?
-
Okay, any word on all the little drill bits we saw (at least I think I remember seeing a picture of the revoltech version covered in drill bits)?
-
Thanks for the pics. So any clue if the previous rumor about the wings coming with other figures in the Gurren Lagann Revoltech line are true then?
-
They look cool, but still not $300 cool.
-
So, did anyone ever get any info on the gurren lagann with wings and drill bits all over it?
